Platinum hair. Purple mixed with platinum eyes. All features of myself that I was seeing for the first time as I looked into the mirror in my mother's room.
I guess you could say I was going through the “Becoming Self Aware” phase of my childhood.
I was dressed in elegant baby attire. The black and amber-which is a theme that is getting old pretty quickly-onesie was a little much for my taste without even considering the family crest that was stitched where my heart is located.
I am currently close to 18 months old by this point. I would love to say it has been eventful but I’ve just been carrying out the same repetitive schedule.
Wake Up.
Eat.
Be bathed and dressed.
Learn more about this world.
Nap.
Play along with my family and act as any child would.
Nap.
Read some more.
Sleep.
As I said… repetitive.
Anyway, throughout my boredom, I did develop an idea.
The books I read described Orbs and Star Mana akin to what I used to call chakras. Additionally, our Orbs-although invisible even to advanced machinery-have been estimated to be around the location of the Solar Plexus. So naturally-as all babies would-I began to try to develop ways to expedite the process of developing attributes.
So at first, I thought meditation would work. It didn’t.
I eventually found out while Orbs and Star Mana are more spiritual and mental related, attributes seemed to be more cosmically connected.
What does this mean? Well. I don’t know. Yet. However, I know that I can figure it out, after all, it’s as the quote goes.
The Universal Law is that knowledge, that awareness, that all living things, that all life has that vitality, that strength, to attain all things necessary to find growth and prosperity.
Or something like that anyway. I was never one who deluged into philosophy very much.
Regardless, I will discover it, I have to.

“Evani,” my father began as he started to tell me and my restless siblings a bedtime story, “The great Rigel of Highstar Aphelion.”
Eliana and my other sister Iris-she was an eight-year-old with beautiful blue eyes and with hair color similar to mine wrapped in two pigtails-watched intensely on the floor just feet from where my father sat. His back was to the fireplace as he sat on an old-but unsurprisingly fancy-wooden chair.
Laying on my mother's lap on one of the three extravagant sofas I only left one ear open as I battled my drowsiness.
“Your sister trained hard every day,” father started back, “By the age of eight she had defeated multiple redcaps with the same type of weapon she possesses today… a Kusarigama.”
A weapon that is basically a scythe on a chain. Not the typical weapon you’d expect an eight-year-old to be carrying but what can you do?
“But you see, Evani was just a mere girl when she developed her first attribute of Storm,” my father continued proudly, “It all started when she ran away from home-again-and caught a transport ship to the newly established colony of Pluta.”
My father took a dramatic pause and looked around the room before continuing, “There she would track down the nest of a furious beast called,” again another dramatic pause, “A Wyvern.”
The word of that beast even attracted the attention of my eldest brother Iker. He was of the humble age of 11 and was dressed as you would picture a typical stuck-up noble… with the traditional amber and black of course. His silver hair and eyes matched that of his father, in fact, he looked exactly like him, granted with a babyface.
Knowing he had the attention of everyone in the room he continued dramatically, “Of course, this wasn’t no ordinary Wyvern either oh no,” he said with a twinkle in his eye, “This Wyvern had been nesting in the home of a fallen star.”
A comet. Probably a massive one at that to fit a Wyvern. Granted Wyverns aren’t as big or strong as dragons, or so the books have told me.
“The deleterious Wyvern had even developed an ice attribute.”
Wait.
“Even as skilled as she was, Evani knew she was outmatched by a Tier-3 threat beast WITH an attribute.”
How did it develop an attribute though?
“Fighting evasively against the mighty opponent, your sister devised an ingenious plan to fight against the beast that had been terrorizing local civilians.”
Iker had now moved to the floor with his sisters.
“Although she was slower, she had the advantage of being chased,” my father explained, “You see, she used her smaller size to her advantage and led the Wyvern back into its nest.”
Ahhhh, I see where this is going. Still though, about this attribute… I’m clearly missing something.
“Being confined by its surroundings, the serpent's greatest advantage was now its weakness.”
I do have to admit, my father can tell a story.
“A gruesome fight followed, your sister dodged and weaved attacks from her foe’s massive tail, she maneuvered her kusarigama to pierce the exposed flesh not fully protected from the massive scales,” father’s attitude of excitement changed abruptly as he went into a more serious tone, “But it wasn’t enough.”
My father stopped for a long moment, scanning his children’s faces-including mine-before continuing.
“At the time, your sister simply did not have enough strength to bring down the beast by brute force alone, so instead she remained calm and used a warrior's most powerful weapon… ingenuity.”
“Manipulating the serpent’s attacks, she allowed herself to be grazed while the brunt of the attacks stuck the walls of the fallen star.”
Comet.
“Eventually the Fallen Star’s integrity began to collapse and your sister knew exactly what to do.”
My siblings continued to gaze at my father, probably envisioning the scene.
“Not wanting to give the Wyvern time to escape, she harassed and annoyed the poor snake, putting it into a fit of rage where it didn’t even recognize the crumbling landscape around it.”
My father shot up from his seat, “As the ceiling began to fully collapse upon itself, your sister made a mad dash towards the exit, dodging falling debris as she ran.”
“With not a minute to spare, your sister slid through the small remaining crack and turned around just in time for the Fallen Star to cave in.”
The starry-eyed children gazed intently as my father finished, “Before passing out your sister grabbed a piece of that fallen meteor, the one she still wears imbued into a bracelet to this day, and when she woke up surrounded by a group of colonists… she felt different.”
“That’s right, at the young age of 8, younger than anyone else in known history to accomplish such a feat, your sister developed her first attribute of Storm.”
That’s it. I know how to develop an attribute.
My thoughts drowned out the sounds of my siblings questioning my father.
The signal common factor when it comes to developing attributes quicker seems to be the introduction of a cosmical relic. The Wyvern developed an Ice attribute after living in the meteor-probably-and my sister developed her first attribute by fighting in that same cosmic entity.
Regular exposure to the cosmos was probably what aided people to develop attributes “naturally”. Pretty anticlimactic I know, but at least now I have a plan.
With my family being who they are, it shouldn't be too difficult to acquire a relic. However, I doubt an infant asking for a cosmic relic would be considered normal.
So I would have to wait. But for how long?
