For the rest of the morning, everyone maintains their chemistry and soon enough Flynt starts gathering books from his study while Briar sleeps the rest of the day away. He has incredible focus when he isn't driving Ignatius crazy, who is out gathering his master basic supplies from the forest and scanning the perimeter for any uninvited guests. Flynt plops himself down at his desk and flips through multiple books at once, taking in all the information that he possibly could. His brows pinched together after a few hours of intense studying, his familiar almost seemed to sense it and came in through the window bearing supplies at just the right time. Grateful for the brief escape he hops to his feet and anxiously chewed on his nails "Did you get everything?" His voice is low as if he is afraid of someone overhearing their conversation. "All that you asked for, Sir." Ignatius replied coolly, flicking his head to the side and listening for even the slightest discouraging noise before meeting the worked-up Warlock's gaze. "Nobody is listening, I can assure you. Briar is asleep and we are alone here, you know that." His master stubbornly shook his head, not satisfied, "You said you saw a trespasser, that could become a problem." Ignatius set down the basket of materials and took his place on the windowsill, digging his talons into it when he raised his voice, "They barely entered the area, it's simply my job to report back to you on any findings no matter how small they seem. It's hardly worth all this panicking that you seem so intent on doing, it was one time."
He stretched out a wing and signaled outdoors. "Nobody is coming out this far, you hermit." For once the roles almost seemed reversed, Ignatius brushing off a potential problem and Flynt stressing out over it. "You're probably right… But I want you to keep a closer eye on our borders. End of discussion." Flynt muttered, snatching up the basket that held the restocks he needed and going to store them away. He was very tense, haphazardly sorting his things then returned to his desk, burying his nose in the closest book, and sat back in his seat. Ignatius knew he couldn't do much with Flynt having such a headstrong mind, especially when he was distressed and so, he simply did as he was told, soaring out the window without a sound while his master cooled off to check the forest's border again. Flynt waited a few minutes before getting up and shutting the window and locking it up. He lay in his bed and drew a few deep breaths, honing his energies, entering a sort of meditative state as he was suddenly surpassing treetops, seeing through Ignatius' eyes. He trusted him but had to see for himself that he wasn't taking any detours out of frustration with him and it made him feel a lot better knowing his exact whereabouts.
He spent a lot of time like that until he felt it, a heaviness on his chest, it startled him and his heart began to pound. He couldn’t help his racing thoughts as he disengaged with his familiar and gradually came to with his vessel Everything was locked, what got in? Why now?.. His eyes slowly opened, he felt dizzy and his breaths were short from the pressure that was being put on him. When he finally looked at the being that managed to put all its weight on him he let out a stressed sigh. "Briar… What the hell are you doing?" She quietly blinked and cocked her head to the side, "I woke up and you wouldn't respond when I knocked at the entryway, so I entered then you weren't responding to my voice projection… I was making sure you were not lost to this world." Her mouth had turned down into a grim expression as she climbed off of him, allowing her master to catch his breath. Sitting with her head down and hands in her lap, Briar spoke courteously. "My sincere apologies." Flynt could not look at her, he felt guilty for something that was supposed to only be his guardian, though he could not deny his quick attachment to the girl and hated seeing her upset. "You were just looking out for me, I just couldn't tell it was you and got startled. Don't be sorry for doing your job, I'm glad you are so considerate of my well-being. Bring it in." He outstretched his arm, opening up his side to Briar which she quickly moved into and accepted being held there, Flynt's simple kindness consoled her worried mind.
The dizziness subsided after about an hour of quiet, Flynt retrieved his arm and set himself up to get out of bed. "Briar, it's about time for us to start studying for the day, don't you think?" Briar's eyes lit up in the purest wonder, being very new to the world she had a lot to learn about and she was intrigued by all of it, quickly getting to her feet to reach the desk. Not only did she have to be fluent in the English language, but also retain some basic knowledge of human behavior and history. She must also take note of information involving the black arts and anything that falls into the range of the occult to assist her creator. This includes knowing different potions, incantations, and rituals, she will have to be just as capable as an apprentice in the case of an emergency. He thoroughly runs through these things with her every day to be sure they don't miss a thing and luckily Briar is usually an eager student aside from the occasional frustration overload when she hits a wall.
After many long hours of reading being done and several questions being asked to bring some clarity to the lengthy passages they encountered, Flynt was drained and felt they made good progress. Briar was insisting on continuing, she was able to retain a lot, making her start to butt heads with her master over the matter of him teaching her everything there was to know. Briar growled, rising to her feet, "I can handle it, I understand everything, why should I have to wait?" She bared her teeth at the warlock, but he simply brushed it off. “I’m not holding back with you, I just want you to let the information sink in. Plus, I'm tapped out, we'll continue tomorrow.” Flynt was firm, rubbing his temples before he rose to his feet, stretching out his back. The girl delicately ran her fingertips over the pages of an open book before shutting it and returning it to the shelf, clearly bummed out. "Yes, Sir." She slinked out of the room, dragging her heavy feet across the floor as she went to her post outside of their home. She climbed up onto the railing, her clawed feet clutching it as she crouched down, her body was completely immune to the dropping temperatures. Briar’s muscles stilled, taut with tension as she assumed her role, eyes unblinking, her breaths shallow and kept at a minimum. Her cool-toned skin grew so thick it would be nearly impossible to pierce while she assumed her controlled state. She waits like this until the night is gone then rushes indoors just before the sun’s rays can touch her, she cannot be exposed to the light without becoming inanimate, so she is nocturnal by default. Fall and Winter months are more to her kind’s liking due to the shorter days and longer nights, giving them more time to thrive amongst people.
