She had escaped from hearing Annabelle's vicious flirting and had made it to the gym doors. She cringed when she opened the door to the sound of squeaking shoes. The sound nearly made her want to throw up right then and there. She hated how severe her misophonia was.
She looked up to see the girls basketball team running the last of their drills, a coach yelling at a pair of girls from across the court.
The coach clapped her hands loudly. "Taylor! Ria! What have I told about hogging the ball? If you keep playing like this, I'll demote you to junior varsity!"
Two girls rolled their eyes, but shouted "yes ma'am"s across the court.
The one she assumed was Taylor shot Georgia a confused look. She handed the ball in her hands to her friend and jogged over to her.
"You look lost, Blondie. Volleyball practice is next week."
"So you're funny, huh?" Georgia sighed. "I actually came looking for you."
Taylor smiled. "Oh? To what do I owe the pleasure of meeting you?"
Georgia's eyes wandered over Taylor's frame. Her toned arms were glistening with what Georgia could only assume was sweat. Her chest was rising rapidly as she was clearly out of breath from practice. If the first words out of her mouth weren't stereotyping her, and if she wasn't into Theo, Georgia might've been interested in her.
"You gonna keep checking me out or are you going to tell me what you want?" She blinked at her. "I don't swing that way, anyways."
Georgia chuckled. She did not like this girl.
"I wanted to ask about Theodora. Do you remember her?"
Taylor pulled a face. "That crybaby? What about her?"
"How did her mom die?" Georgia cut to the chase. The less she had to talk to this girl, the better.
Taylor breathed and placed her hand on her hip. "Killed herself. Apparently, Theo found her. Gun in her hand and everything. Blood everywhere, the whole shebang." Taylor groaned. "God, she sulked for forever. I get it, she missed her, but to cry about it everyday for a whole year? She made her trauma her whole personality. Couldn't stand it, so I ditched." She shrugged. "I don't know how Yana put up with her."
Georgia had stayed silent. A mistake that lead Taylor to talking.
"Why are you asking me anyways? If you know her, shouldn't she have told you?" She smirked as realization washed over her. "Oh... She wouldn't tell you, huh?"
Again, Georgia was quiet.
"Why would you want me to tell you what she doesn't want you to know?"
Annabelle leaned over the game controllers separating her and Sonny. She tucked a few stray hairs behind Sonny's ear and watched as he became a flushed mess.
"You're single, right?" Annabelle whispered as her eyes trailed down to his lips.
Sonny nodded quickly. "Yep. Yep, so single. So single it hurts."
Annabelle pulled away, laughing. "You are so frigging adorable! 'So single it hurts', what is that?"
Sonny punched her and hollered. "Stop! Don't tease me so much. You're so embarrassing!"
Annabelle cupped his face as her laughter died. "Fine, fine, no more teasing." Belle hesitated as she looked him in his eyes. "Can I kiss you?"
Sonny smiled. "Do you really have to ask?" Sonny moved slightly forward, peppering Annabelle's lips with kisses. "I wanted to kiss you at the party, but I couldn't tell if you were straight or not. And I didn't know if you were dating someone-"
Annabelle cut her off by matching their lips together.
"Definitely not dating anyone." She smiled into the kiss.
Sonny jumped away from Annabelle when her door swung open.
"Anna! What did dad say about shutting your door when you have girls over!" A small kid stood at the door with his hands on his hips. His mouth was wide and he was missing two teeth on the top row, from when he had tripped while skating.
Annabelle got off her bed and waltzed over to her brother, smacking him in the head. "First off, at least knock before you swing open my door. Who knows what you'd walk in on. Secondly, he's not a girl." She took hold of her little brother and guided him towards Sonny.
"So, apologize to him."
He looked up to the older boy, giving a look of disbelief, but he apologized anyways. "Sorry, mister. Dad just doesn't like it when Anna brings home kids her age. Unless it's Georgia. Cause he knows Anna doesn't like Georgia like that."
Annabelle quickly turned her brother around and pushed him towards the door. "You talk to much, Leo. Go outside and play with Joseph or something."
Leo groaned. "I don't wanna play with him! I don't want a brother who picks his nose!"
Annabelle grew irritated. "Then go play with one of your other six brothers! You've got plenty to choose from!"
Leo frowned and stopped at the door, turning back to face Sonny. "You know what she doesn't want you to know, mister?" He stated, stomping his foot. "Annabelle's had so many girls and guys over, and they always get super loud at night!"
He puffed angrily before he left, stomping down the hall.
Belle turned back to face Sonny, her eyes wide with horror. "He's just a kid, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I promise, none of my past relationships have ever been serious."
Sonny picked at his lips. "Well, did you want this to be?"
A part of her told her that Sonny already knew the answer, but he had asked anyways.
"I'm not sure I'll ever want anything serious. With anyone." Annabelle answered. Something bubbled in her chest with the look Sonny had gave her, along with the churning dishonesty.
Well, what did he expect? They had met at a party nearly two weeks ago, and then, suddenly they were in her room, making out. It all just looked like a casual hookup. It should have been obvious.
"Alright." Sonny nodded. "That's fine." He grabbed his bag and slowly slid it onto his shoulders.
"If you expected something different, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give you that impression." Annabelle mumbled as Sonny had stepped closer.
Sonny pulled a smile before kissing her. He made the kiss last, hoping it wouldn't be the last time. Even if she didn't want him, Sonny couldn't give up the taste of her.
"Nah, you're cool. I always do this, I always misunderstand. I'm not yours, you're not mine." Sonny traced her cheek. "Can I still kiss you, though?"
I have a joke for you, dear reader.
What do you get when two idiots who see each other as amusing, yet annoying toys use each other to benefit in their own ways, only to end up falling head over heels for one another?
An idiotic "enemies" to lovers story.
Funny joke, right?
Georgia wants to be less boring, Theodora just wants to graduate and disappear.
