Present day
She looked to her right, where the knifes blade was halfway through the wooden flooring beneath the carpet. She took short breaths as she watched him get up and walk away, his hands fixed on his forehead.
"Where did you get these?" She said, picking the photos.
"10 years ago, when Mi Ran was an intern at TN News, she started digging into the corporation. There were rumors that my father had embezzled funds and that he killed himself because of it. Mi Ran had been tailing my mother since there were rumors that she was involved too", he wiped his tears on the sleeves of the shirt he had rolled back down.
"That day I was in the car in front of my mother's, I saw your car pull up but my housekeeper didn't stop the car. My mom had told him not to".
"I'm sorry So Woon. No, Taejin Moon", she said. He looked at her in surprise. His actual name was something he had given up a long time ago.
"You should meet your mother", she said getting up while holding her stomach. The pain from earlier only got worse.
"She's alive?" he exclaimed. She explained what had happened, to him.
"Even if she went back with the will, your grandfather had enough power to invalidate her claims. She wanted to stay silently here; she didn't care as long as you were safe. And she told me everyday that she knew that her son was safe. She didn't tell me it was you, for your safety I suppose. Anyway, let's go", she said heading out.

She drove through the muddy road into a narrower road that would fit just one car. The moon shone bright up in the sky, as it followed them. Driving past the sparse forest, they got onto a road that was wider and out in the open. They drove through hills for an hour before pulling up at a tiny house atop the hill with a sheep farm next to it. Not far from it, there were other houses dotted along the lake nearby.
She got out of the car. So Woon nervously sat in the car, taking deep breaths. She smiled and headed towards the house.
"You here?" she asked. The door barged open and the woman rushed out, a lot of her front hair had turned grey. Ye Ri ran to her and ran her hands across her face.
"Sam, I heard the news. You are okay right?" she asked anxiously. Sam nodded and said, "there's someone else you should be more concerned about!" and looked back at the car. So Woon stepped out, his shoulders hunched and his hands clutching the rim of his shirt.
"Mom", he said. Ye Ri covered her mouth with her hands as tears fell from her eyes. She ran to him embracing him.
Sam looked at the both of them as smiled until she was distracted by the alarm that was going off in her pocket. Her eyebrows formed a frown. She looked back at them. It was the cabin's security system.
"So Woon, talk to Mi Ran alright", he said. He nodded.
"I gotta go check on something so I'll leave you two now", she smiled reassuringly and walked back to the car.
"Is it something dangerous?", So Woon asked stepping forward.
"No, I can handle it. You just met your mom; you guys should catch up", she laughed.
"Stay safe Sam", Ye Ri said. "Come back safe", she said her concerns showing on her face. She nodded and turned to So Woon.
"Take care of your mom", she said to So Woon. He nodded. She smiled, a certain sadness in it. Like this could be the last time. He didn't like it.
"You better come back safe", he said pulling up the sleeves of his other arm, revealing the bracelet. "I couldn't bring myself to throw it", he shouted. She smiled and open the car, getting in.
They watched as she reversed and drove out of the place.
"You two are a thing? No wonder she was all gigglier than usual the last time I saw her", Ye Ri smiled and headed back in.
He watched the leaving car, smiling.
"Are you going to stand there all night?" she asked from inside the house. He headed in.
She drove back to the cabin to find it ravaged. The photos was cracked and the fridge upturned. Everything was destroyed. She sighed and headed back to the car. Dialing Akin, the radio screen showed.
"Yeah, did you check the file I sent?" she asked leaning forward so her chin was on the steering wheel.
"Yeah, the Chairman having his wife's lawyer killed, stabbing you and attempting to kill his daughter -in-law?"
"Duh, yes. If all goes well, he could be locked up for quite some time. What do you say about working on this together?"
"Well, doesn't seem like a bad idea", he said hesitantly.
"I'm going to meet Hane. They will probably beat me up for the will. Show the footage I sent to Mi Ran. So Woon will explain the situation to her. Release the footage online, to some reporters and bring the prosecutors to his house in an hour. Cool?"
"An hour? Isn't that too much?" he asked
"If they gotta catch him red handed, they need a reason don't they? Also, pretty sure we'll be down the garage".
"Whatever" he scoffed and hung up.
She sighed and thought about the humongous risk she was taking by trusting Akin. But there wasn't anyone she trusted. Or anyone she would deliberately put in a dangerous situation. Both were fine with Akin. She rested her face in her hands clearing her mind. She touched the necklace and ran her fingers along it. She blinked rapidly to prevent the tears in her eyes from flowing. Putting the necklace behind her shirt, she changed the gear, reversing the car from the cabin.

The gate was open, the usual parade of Mercedes was non existent. She drove her car in and stopped at the entrance; getting out and walking in. David was next to the Chairman in his study which was far bigger than last time. There now was an extra large table, a bar at the side and the fireplace was lit.
"Any luck with the search.." she asked stopping at the table, "..for me?" she finished her sentence. David turned around and ran to her, twisting her arm and pushing her down to her knees.
"Easy, it's not like you chased me down or anything yeah?" she scoffed.
"You still looking for that will, old man?"
"You still have some balls coming back to this room. You don't think you can escape did you?" the Chairman asked getting up and walking around the table to stand in front of her. She smirked.
She looked at the clock on the cement wall in the empty garage. It had been 20 minutes since the call.
*If Akin did as said, it should be on air by now* Her hands were tied behind the chair she was sitting on. Her face now covered in two layers of blood. In the distance she watched David rummaging through the tools on the table, deciding what to try next.
*At least someone is having the best time of his life*
"You watch news?", she asked and spit out the blood in her mouth. "Maybe you should check it out now. Try searching your name", Hane's smile faded away. David pulled out his phone and typed into it. She waited, hoping her fears don't end up true.
"Oh, you are referring to the video you sent to Akin!" Hane exclaimed. She shifted in the chair, letting out a gasp of air with a smirk on her face.
"You both find out you were long lost brothers or something? Met at a blind date?" she laughed masking her anxiety. She narrowed her eyes and lowered her face; she looked at the blood oozing out of the wound on her thigh from when David had decided to bury a pocket knife into it.
"Knowing Akin, you should have expected him to fold if I offered him one of my real estate companies. Didn't see that coming?", Hane laughed.
She looked at the clock.
*It had been 45 minutes and how much time had passed was useless now that the situation had changed*
The Chairman's laugh faded again as David shoved the screen inches away from his face. She noticed their toughened faces and asked, "Something happen?"
"That son of a bitch", Hane cursed and gestured David to get out.
*Akin can forget that he logged in as a guest and played two epic ranked matches but he wouldn't forget how Hane had turned his life upside down*
As soon as the doors opened, a bunch of people rushed in cuffing David and shoving some paper that looked elaborately legal. Hane pulled the knife from the table on his side and rushed to Samairah, holding it against her neck. By then, the police had rushed in, some pointing taser guns and the others pointing guns.
"I'll kill her if you come close", he held the knife with one hand and removed the ropes on her hands. He pulled her up. She slowly brought her hands up, so she could grab his arm away but officers entering from the main entrance behind them distracted both of them. He turned, the knife still on her throat. She pushed him away as he turned and fell on her knees. She heard three shots and watched as he succumbed to the ground.
Earlier
"I told you she is going to be fine. The police and prosecutors are on their way there", Akin said to So Woon who fidgeted by scratching the leather cover on the car seat. Ye Ri was in the back seat.
"Can you stop that? It's kinda expensive", Akin said with an awkward expression on his face.
"She didn't tell me any of it except to tell Mi Ran about what happened back then. I didn't think she would go meet him", So Woon spoke almost out of breath.
"Pretty sure your mother here, knew", Akin said glancing back for a second. So Woon turned back and sighed.
"I just didn't want you to worry. She said we could have what was given to us and that you wont have to live with a fake identity anymore. I am selfish when it comes to you, so I don't care about the cost Taejin!"
"MOM!" he shouted, the tears in his eyes almost falling down his cheeks.

Akin walked into the room. "Oh no, I'm late to the party", he said looking at Hane lying a few feet away, his shirt soaked in blood. The officers rushed to check his pulse. Samairah was facing Hane and the officers and turned to Akin.
"Oh you aren't dead? The usual", he laughed. She blinked and she didn't really hear him. She watched as So Woon and Ye Ri entered the room behind him. She wanted to run to him, hug him for as long as she could, but she felt stuck to the ground. She felt the warmth of blood rolling down her collarbone beneath the top. She brought her hand up to her neck to feel the thin slice on the skin. She looked back at So Woon who was smiling and walking to her. She felt dizzy, falling to the side as her vision slowly faded away.
He stopped a feet away from her, noticing her hands and the blood on it. He knelt down keeping her head on his lap and pressing on the wound on her neck.
"Sam! Sam!" he called out. Akin rushed to him followed by Ye Ri.
