Twilight's Journal Entry: Restoration Magic
"Restoration magic is a small subsection of magic that is mainly used in healing wounds both small and large. Unlike defensive magic, healing magic can only be used by those with a natural affinity for it. While I myself can use it, I find that Fluttershy (see corresponding personnel entry) has a far more natural ability to use it, as higher tier healing spells seem to be easier for her to cast.
Base level restorative magicks consists of mainly one spell: Cure, which is a simple healing of minor wounds. However, once that it mastered, this simple spell can branch out into a variety of mid-to-high level spells including Cura, Curaga, Healing Guard, Curing wind, Antidote, Full Heal, etc.
All of these skills require either the mastery of the Cure spell, or the the mastery of a second ability and the skill to combine them with Cure. Even Master Luna doesn't have complete command over every variation."
