When I got home, my family was ready. It was ten minutes before one. We technically don’t arrive until about 1:20 for our speech at 1:35. I went inside and changed into the clothes Axton had given me early this morning. It looked like a preppy college boy outfit, something I wasn’t used to. I typically wore a button up and some blue jeans. This is how I knew that Axel planned the outfit. He was the one that would wear this type of clothing. I got dressed and went back downstairs. “Welcome back, son,” my dad said, placing his hands on my shoulders. His breath smelt like alcohol and it was so strong that it nearly made me gag. “We should get going but first I should brush my teeth,” he said again with the alcohol smell punching me in the face again. He walked away shortly after I exhaled. “Please do. You’re about to take my man Ash out. Damn, your poker face must be great, kid,” I heard Brandon say. I pulled out my phone and sent Glitch, “Thanks. I try.”
I left the house and got in the car. I sat next to Axel in the middle row. I punched him in the arm. “Ow- what the-” he said. “That’s for being a dork,” I said. “Asshole,” he said, rolling his eyes. The car was somewhat loud. Axton was talking about his relationship with Miranda and Axel was talking about his next movie.
We first stopped at the hospital to get my cast off. They replaced it with a brace. However, they let me keep the cast. We left at about 1:15 and started to go to school. I just look out the window, waiting for the orientation to start. When we got there, the school looked packed with newcomers. “Just let me out here. I’ll walk,” I said. The driver stopped and I got out. “See you inside,” my dad said. “Yeah, sure,” I muttered, nodding my head. I rushed into the building.
I went to the janitor’s closet, waiting for Robyn. “Fuck what should I do? Should I give them flowers… chocolate?” I asked, pacing back and forward in the closet. “Wow, you are hopeless in love,” Brandon said. “I’m gonna give them flowers,” I said, grabbing some flowers out of nowhere. “Great, I did it! I did that!” I said, jumping up and down. “Calm the fuck down,” I heard Brandon say. A minute or two passed and the door opened. It was Robyn in a long flowing red dress. Their hair was curled.
“Woah,” I said, feeling my face heat up. Robyn stepped into the closet and closed the door. They reached up and turned on the light. “Were you standing here in the dark all this time?” they asked. “I-uh-flowers,” I said, handing the flowers to them. They grabbed my hand and moved close to me. They started to kiss me and grabbed the back of my neck. I dropped the flowers and grabbed their hips. I felt them smile against my lips as they pulled away. “Maybe we should continue after the party,” Robyn said. “Fuck that party,” I groaned. They laughed as I grabbed their flowers. “Here’s your fucking flowers,” I said, handing the flowers to them again. I was slightly annoyed now but they accepted the roses. “Red. My favorite,” they said, smiling.
