Well you have to understand the fairy, freedom! She needed to enjoy it and fly away. And well, I understand the witch thinking right away that she was abandoned. Later the witch breaks the bottle as a way to express her gratitude and that she won't do it again... hopefully.
That panel of freedom should be shinnier, all white except where the witch was left, to add happiness and desperation to that same panel, now I know for future story telling.
