"Ergh... What is happening," I muttered opening one of my eyes.
"Hey there sleepyhead," Lucas' green eyes lit up as he smiled down at me.
"Oh....uh..... hi. Sorry about the cuddling. It's just.... you're really warm," I muttered out, my voice deep and thick due to still being a bit tired.
"I'm not complaining. It was actually nice having someone to cuddle up to. So what do you want to do today?"
"Well. I need clothes, hygiene stuff and some food that I like so we should probably go shopping. I have a bit of money left."
"Too bad, you won't get to spend it. Save your money. From what I make at the auto shop, and mom and dad's life insurance policies I have more money than I could ever need. They'd be proud that I'm using it to help you and get Jace through college. Just don't ever tell him that I paid for it. He thinks his scholarship is paying for his first year. It doesn't start 'til next year," he smiled at me again.
I sat up and stretched a bit then looked at Lucas, "If you're sure. I feel bad. Like a charity case."
"Don't! I figured you wouldn't want to wear only my clothes forever."
"Well as much as I like them, they really aren't my style."
"Addi. When we met you wearing a white button-up, black jeans, and a blazer. I figured we don't have the same 'style'," he laughed, climbing out of bed, "I'm gonna take Crowley out to go to the bathroom. Why don't you shower and throw on some clothes and we will head to the store?"
"Yeah sounds good," I smiled again and patted Crowley on his head before heading off to the bathroom.
A few minutes later, I hopped out of the shower and headed to my room to change. Looking through the clothes I couldn't stop myself from laughing a bit. The clothes were a mix of plaid, old band t-shirts, and tight-fitting jeans.
I picked out a red flannel, one of the black shirts, and a pair of black jeans. I turned and couldn't stop laughing at my reflection in the mirror imagining Lucas wearing the same outfit in high school. Throwing on a pair of socks, I finally walked downstairs to the kitchen. Lucas came walking back inside at the same moment and let out a laugh when he saw me.
"You look so cute Addi!"
"Shut up Luca! I feel like I look weird."
"You're adorable now, hush," Lucas walked over to me, twirling a finger into my hair.
My heart fluttered as I stared up at his face.
"Can I ask you a question?" Lucas kept his tone uncharacteristically soft.
"Okay."
"When we are in public do you think I could hold your hand?"
"As long as I get to kiss you," I flirted a little, smirking at him.
"Does this mean that you are my... ya know... significant other?"
I looked down at the ground, "'Significant other'?" I muttered out, my throat dry.
"Ya know.... my boyfriend...," Lucas looked down at his shoes.
Why would you want me?
To be with me?
You don't even know me... you don't know what I've done.
But I want... your warmth.
Your kindness.
Your joy.
So...
"Well it's only been one night, but sure.... why not. You know if people find out how quick this happened they are going to judge us."
"Oh um Addi. I only have Shana, Joelle, and Dex. Jace and his boyfriend have already been together for a year and Jace moved out of his dorm and in with Gabe 3 days after they started dating. They spent a year getting to know each other because... well reasons. So no. The people on my end don't care. They just want me to finally be happy. I’ve been alone for a long time. What about you?" Lucas started walking toward the stairs.
