Smiling, Lucas reached over and took my hand in his own, "Ya know, I'm glad you blundered into my life."
"Oh shut up Luca! That was an accident. A happy one but still I claim accident," I laughed loudly, squeezing his hand.
A few moments later we pulled into the parking lot of a large store. Climbing out of the Mustang, we both locked and slammed the doors at the same time.
"Well, that was weird," I giggled.
"Come on Addi! Let's go shopping," Lucas grabbed a cart, jumped on the back of it, and pushed off sliding towards the store.
My face lit up, watching him act childish. He was mature and grown, but he wasn't afraid to show his silly side.
"Okay first clothes," I headed off to the men's department. After trying on several different styles, I decided button-up shirts and tight-fitting jeans were still the best looks for me. It was engrained in me from my parents... and James.
Lucas finally returned, carrying 2 pairs of loafers in his arms, one brown, and the other black.
"You dress like an old man," Lucas joked.
"And you dress like a delinquent."
"That's just rude. You seemed to like it when we met ya know?"
"Well, I dress better than you at least," I pointed at Lucas' jeans.
They were covered in paint and had holes ripped across the knees and his right thigh.
"Hey! These are the most comfortable pants I have ever owned," he huffed at me, pouting.
I moved closer and stood on my tiptoes to softly kiss his cheek, "Calm down, I'm just kidding," I smiled, grabbed the cart from Lucas, and headed off to the hygiene area.
Grabbing all the necessities, I ended up near the hairdryers.
"Oh god. You don't need one of those do you?" Lucas asked patronizingly.
"No smart ass, just a brush. But if it bothers you THAT much I will buy one," I reached past Lucas to grab the best brush I could.
"Yeah, yeah okay," Lucas grabbed me, his eyes burning.
I wanted nothing more than to have him kiss me like last night in the kitchen, but I realized where we were.
"Luca. Public. No make-out sessions."
"Ugh fine," he softly kissed me on the nose and then let me go.
Putting the brush in the cart, we headed off to the grocery section where Lucas made crude jokes about everything I put in the cart. Smiling the whole time, I kept having to remind him that there were children present. Finishing up, we finally checked out and headed for the car.
Being in public like this, usually peaked my anxiety, but somehow, being with Lucas kept me calm.
"Well we certainly did good," Lucas started loading the bags into the car.
"Lucas, seriously you didn't have to do this."
"Hush you know that I wanted to do this. You needed it," Lucas let us both in the car and pulled out of the parking lot. Sitting in silence I was smiling looking out the windows, a sense of calmness falling between us.
Pulling into the driveway, Lucas sighed happily, "Come on let's get inside," he hopped out of the car, grabbing as many bags as he could carry. His muscles tightened under his shirt and I bit my lip.
Taking a deep breath, I hummed happily and gathered up the rest following Lucas inside, "I'll put things away if you want to go get Crowley," I started sorting the bags that were on the dining table.
"Okay, Mr. Bossy. Acting like you own the house," Lucas joked, grabbing my butt.
His hands were strong, but they didn't hurt. Just a cheeky amount of pressure.
"Hey now!" I yelled out jumping into the air.
Before I could retaliate, Lucas ran out of the door giggling.
I sighed happily and finished putting away all the groceries and headed upstairs to the bathroom. I had to reorganize the bathroom cabinets, move Lucas' stuff up, and put all my stuff on the lower shelf.
Am I doing too much?
Will he be upset?
No...
Fight those thoughts down.
He keeps telling you he wants you here.
I was snapped from my intrusive thoughts by the little furry ball that is Crowley running into the bathroom and trying to climb my leg.
"Silly boy. You're a puppy, not a kitty," I kneeled on the ground and let Crowley lick at my face. Lucas came up the stairs and leaned against the door frame.
"That is adorable," he laughed.
I was rolling around on the floor, Crowley licking at my face and wiggling on top of me, "Okay, okay Crowley enough," I cried out breathlessly, trying to command the dog between giggles. Crowley finally got off me, but still kept trying to lick at my face.
"Crowley! Downstairs now," Lucas firmly commanded. The pup turned and looked at Lucas, then ran off down the stairs.
I stood up and turned to Lucas, my cheeks heating up as I saw how much he was smiling.
So beautiful.
"Well, I certainly feel loved," I started laughing, gathering the bags of clothes off the floor.
I quickly shoved all the bags into Lucas’ arms and yelled out, "Race you to my room!", taking off at a full sprint down the hallway before Lucas had a chance to properly react. I laughed as hard as I could as I ran, throwing myself into my bedroom.
"What the hell! You're too fast!" I heard Lucas laugh, and I could hear him trying to catch up but giving up when he realized that I had already made it to the room before he had even begun running.
Taking a seat on the bed, Lucas watched me fondly as I folded all the clothes and placed them in the drawers next to the ones he had given me.
"Ya know, you can take my clothes out if you don't want to wear them," Lucas shrugged.
But I like your clothes...
I finished putting away my new clothes before answering Lucas, "I want your clothes in the drawer. They.... uh.... they smell like you. I like the smell. That's weird, right? I feel like that’s a weird thing to admit," I looked to the floor, my cheeks burning.
"No, not weird. That is one the most adorable things I have ever heard," he whispered getting off the bed and coming over to me. He gently placed his hands on either side of my face and kissed me roughly, deeper than he had before.
I want to stop him.
His outward affection scares me.
It makes my heart race, a knot form in my stomach, and my knees feel weak.
I fought down all my thought of stopping and gave into him. He was too warm. His rough kiss was still gentle, just enough pressure to show how much he wanted me. I pressed myself against Lucas, kissing him just as roughly. His moans came from deep in his throat and made my spine shiver. He pulled away and pressed his forehead to mine.
"Before this goes too far. Are you sure this is okay?" His words came out husky, laced with need.
"Yes, Lucas. I'm ready for whatever."
A gentle moan escaped Lucas' lips again as he pressed them back against mine hungrily. We were frozen here, enjoying feeling the pressure of each other's lips and I didn't want this feeling to end.
But life doesn't work like that does it?
My phone ringing crashed through our moment.
"Who the fuck!" I shouted out grabbing my phone from the dresser behind me and answering before checking the caller ID, "Hello?" I yelled angrily into the phone looking down to the floor to settle my heart.
Why didn't I check the ID?
"I told you, Adrian, you can’t hide from me," a gravelly voice on the other end of the line answered me.
No not this voice. Not him, please.
Why didn't I check the ID?
"James....," I choked out, a sense of fear and panic hitting me in the stomach, taking the last of the air from me.
WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T I CHECK THE GODDAMN ID?!
