White lights were the first thing that Levi saw when he came to, and he saw people in uniforms around him. He tensed up, not knowing who the people were, and trying to get away.
That was when he realized his arms were being held down by more of the uniformed people, making him panic even further. He was in terrible pain, his arms burning and his entire being longed for comfort, but none of these people who had a hold on him would bring it.
"I need you to calm down, sir," one of the men said, pressing on his chest gently to keep him from shaking and pushing them away. "We're going to give you a sedative so we can stitch up your wounds."
Levi shook his head, tears leaking from his eyes as he tried to see past the haze over his eyes. He didn't want to go to sleep; he didn't know what would happen to him if he was asleep. The fog in his mind was so heavy that he didn't know what was going on or where he was.
"Don't," Levi said, his voice scratchy.
The people ignored him and began to speak to each other and Levi couldn't pick up their words. His mind went fuzzy and he tried to sit up, but every part of his body felt too heavy. Before he could tell them to stop whatever they were doing, he'd fallen back asleep.
•••
Echoed voices dragging Levi's mind from his rest, his whole body sore and he his eyelids felt heavy. He could hear shouting and it made him fight the haze and open his eyes to find that he was alone in the room.
A clock on the wall told him it was seven in the morning, which explained his exhaustion. Looking down at his arms, he saw thick bandages covering his forearms, and his mind rushed back to the previous night.
The embarrassment, the guilt, his anger and depression, the cutting, and finally, calling Greyson.
The yelling from outside the door made his eyes widen and body tense, as he recognized the voice.
"What do you mean we can't go in?!" Elijah shouted, and Levi heard a thudding sound, most likely someone hitting a wall. "He's our boyfriend and you said he's stable, so we deserve to go in!"
Levi's heart raced as he realized that Elijah and Greyson were outside his door. In fact, his heart rate skyrocketed to the point where the heart monitor went off and the nurse outside the door rushed into the room.
She ran over to the IV that was attached to Levi's arm and he panicked.
"Don't give me another sedative!" he shouted, his heart longing to see Elijah and Greyson, no matter how mad they may be.
They'd probably hate him. He couldn't believe that he thought they'd relish in the pain he caused himself. All he could hear was the heavy tone the both Greyson and Elijah had as they pleaded him to stay awake, promising they were on their way.
"I won't," the nurse said, looking at the screen that displayed his vitals. "I'm just checking the vitals because usually heart rates don't randomly leap like that."
Levi bit his bottom lip. "I heard my boyfriends in the hallway," he said, realizing he couldn't play with his fingers because his arms were wrapped and too weak to move. "I want to see them."
The nurse didn't look too sure. "I'm not sure-"
"Let me see them!" Levi yelled, his anger overflowing. "You told them I was stable so let me see them now!"
"The doctor will see you soon," the nurse said, opening the door. "You can come in, gentlemen."
Elijah and Greyson shoved past the nurse and sat each one rushed to one of Levi's side. They all were silent for a few seconds, Greyson covering Levi's bandaged arms when he caught Elijah staring at them with a sad expression.
"I... I'm sorry," Levi eventually said, neither of the two looking him in the eyes. "I didn't mean..." He trailed off, not knowing what to say.
Elijah turned around and punched the wall, leaving a crack in it where his fist landed. "I should've known," he growled, sitting down in one of the chairs and glaring at the floor. "Is this because I tried to kiss you? Did I make you feel insecure or scared? I swear I didn't ever mean to, and I'm so sorry that I did this to you."
Levi shook his head. "You didn't," he said, not accustomed to Elijah having angry outbursts but he didn't say anything, especially because he could tell that he felt at fault. "I've cut myself for a while now... I just didn't think I was going to go that deep."
"Why did you do it?" Greyson asked, sitting beside Elijah and grabbing his hand.
Levi looked down at his lap. "I... I had to punish myself," he said in a hushed voice. "To make up for rejecting you."
Elijah looked about to yell, but the doctor entered the room with a cheesy smile and walked over to stand beside Levi's bedside opposite Elijah and Greyson.
"Good morning, I'm Dr. Crothe. How are you feeling?" the doctor asked.
Levi scoffed. "Pretty good for someone who just failed to kill themself," he said, making the doctor's expression fall from his smile to a more serious look. "Were you expecting another reaction? Can you just say I'm stable and I'll promise to go to therapy so I can leave?"
Dr. Crothe sighed. "I have a few options for counselors to come in here as well as a few mental hospitals-"
"No," Levi said, and there was no persuading him. "You can give me the list of names but I am not talking to anyone here and I'm not going to a mental hospital."
Dr. Crothe opened his mouth to convince him otherwise, but Greyson stopped him.
"He said he doesn't want to see one here or be shipped off, so leave him alone," he said, knowing he had to get the doctor to leave Levi alone before Elijah decided to get involved. "We'll take him home and keep an eye on him and once he fully recovers we'll discuss getting someone else involved."
The doctor didn't look pleased. “We have to keep him on 24 hour watch because he attempted suicide.”
Greyson grabbed the doctor by his neck, his eyes beginning to glow as he put the doctor under a trance. “He did not attempt suicide,” he said lowly, the doctor slowly repeating the words. “He will leave with us and be under close watch. Understood?”
Dr. Crothe nodded dumbly and began to move to take the IV out of Levi’s arm.
"Do you have clothes that aren't a hospital gown?" Levi asked the two demons, blushing when he saw the angry stare the Elijah was directing at the doctor's back as he touched Levi's chest to remove the monitors.
"Elijah, go get the clothes from the car so I can pay the bills," Greyson ordered, and Elijah huffed, stomping away.
Levi shook his head. "I can p-"
Greyson shot him a look that shut Levi up as he pulled out his checkbook and followed the doctor from the room so he could get the final bill.
Levi was alone in the room with a trembling bottom lip only trying to compose himself when Elijah reentered the room with a backpack and a pair of tennis shoes.
"I brought you a really big sweatshirt," Elijah mumbled, glancing at the blanket covering Levi's bandages. "But I can find a short sleeve if you prefer it."
Levi could tell that Elijah didn't want to see the bandages, so for his sake Levi accepted the sweatshirt. That, and he was really cold so he didn't mind the warmth of something big and fluffy that would probably smell like one of his two soulmates.
"Elijah?" Levi asked, climbing out of the bed.
"Yes?" Elijah asked, avoiding looking at his arms and maintaining eye contact. "What's wrong?"
Levi ground his teeth together. "I know you don't want to see my arms... but I can't get the sweatshirt on by myself," he said, lowering his head so his eyes were fixed on Elijah's feet.
Elijah grabbed the sweatshirt from the bag and helped Levi out of the hospital gown, licking his lips at the sight of Levi's naked torso. He forced himself to focus on the matter at hand, though every part of him wanted to pin Levi down and have his way with him.
"Stop staring," Levi whined, seeing the lust in Elijah's eyes. "You're supposed to be jealous, not lustful!"
Elijah huffed once again and helped Levi into the dark green sweatshirt and a pair of shorts, before forcing Levi to sit down so Elijah could put on his shoes and socks.
"Demons are really sexual," Elijah said, tying the shoes and sitting beside Levi. "Lust, I mean Lexi, is just more sexual and horny than the rest of us."
Levi nodded in understanding, wishing he could hold Elijah's hand, but his hand was also partially covered in bandage and he didn't want to upset Elijah. After all, he caused the horrible pain in his arms as well as the one in Greyson and Elijah's hearts.
"What's wrong?" Elijah asked, seeing the pain in his beloved's eyes.
"I... can I hold your hand?" Levi asked, blushing. "If you don't want to because of the bandages I get it-"
Elijah grabbed his hand, lacing their fingers and avoiding pressing on his forearm. "I don't hate the bandages because I'm mad at you," he said, using his other hand to pull Levi's head onto his shoulder. "I just hate that they're causing you pain."
Levi's heart jumped, guilt eating him up from the inside. "I'm sorry," he said once again, closing his eyes to keep from crying.
"Stop apologizing," Elijah said, rubbing his hand over the back of Levi's covered hand. "There's something hurting you and I'm going to find out what it is."
That made Levi's heart race even faster. "I don't want to talk about it, Elijah," he said, his hands shaking.
The door to the room opened and Greyson entered, his face softening at the sight of his two soulmates as he grabbed the backpack.
"Time to go," he said, grabbing Levi's other hand, careful not to press on his forearms. "And I heard the end of your conversation, and unless you want to talk to a therapist, Elijah and I need to know what's going on."
Levi huffed as he got into the car, Elijah driving this time while Greyson climbed in the backseat with Levi, wrapping his arm around Levi's waist.
"Are you taking me home?" Levi asked, not comfortable with asking if he could stay with Elijah and Greyson, even though he wanted to.
Greyson scoffed. "No. You're staying with us," he growled, tightening his grip on Levi's waist. "Might as well sell your damn apartment."
"Greyson, your demon is showing," Elijah scolded, glaring in the rear view mirror at Greyson. "But he's right, Levi. We don't know what broke you but we want to help you, and neither of us are going to let you be alone in a house for a while."
Levi sighed and laid his head on Greyson's shoulder, closing his eyes. He knew he'd be expected to talk later, so he was going to get as much rest as he could.
