Wanna clarify that I DON'T agree with everything Evie says. She's defending imperialism! But I think a lot about how people in history felt, and how they justified their actions. My grandparents were Taiwanese, but supported the Japanese Empire during World War II. (They were culturally closer to Japanese, and even taught my mom Japanese instead of Chinese! I often wonder about their motivations.) So it was important to me that Evie has this conflict of being a colonial but siding with the empire.
I read many first-hand accounts of life in the early 20th century, and even decent people don't always have modern beliefs. There is no character in RWFC who believes the same things I do. They're all messed up people doing their best!
Royal Witches Flying Corps is a historical fantasy comic about magic and aviation.
Evie is a young witch fighting for the Atlantic-English Empire. On the mysterious '8th Continent', she crosses paths with Martin, a pilot in the partisan resistance. The tumultuous events of the early 20th century make them unlikely allies. Updates every Monday and Thursday!
