"Hmmmm, a real pickle you're in... but I may just have an answer for you."
Janette blinked a few times but asked anyways. "H-how? I mean isn't he..."
"Dead and a demon? Yep! But it's possible. Although it comes with some "side effects"."
"... And what kind are they?" Janette hesitantly asked.
"As in, in the long run, you'll have a longer life and youth, but you'll end up as a demon in Hell." Arabella bluntly explained at point blank.
Janette's eyes grew to the size of dinner plates and Alastor in the next room thought he would plotz.
"Can-can you elaborate on what this plan of yours is?" Janette tried to keep her voice even, but it was clearly evident that she was shocked.
"Well... one... if you're dead set on dating Alastor and wanting a future with him, you can sign up for receiving the "Magne's Blessing"." Arabella casually said.
"And... what is that? And what's a Magne?" Janette asked, confused.
"Magne is the royal family's last name in Hell." Alastor replied from behind her.
Janette jumped three feet in the air while sitting. "Alastor!.... Did.... How long have you been listening...?"
"The entire time sweetheart. Isn't that right Al~" Arabella taunted.
"Yes indeedy..." He leaned close to Janette's ear. "My dear~"
Janette blushed bright red and hid her face in her hands in embarrassment.
"Where do you plan on getting one of the royal family anyway? Lucifer and I aren't exactly on the best of terms right now." Alastor commented as if that never happened. He was dying internally due to his boldness on the matter though.
Arabella smirked and rolled her eyes. "Well first off let me explain to your possible future wife on how the process goes. And secondly, if you plan on receiving one, first you have to date for a while. The royals, though pushy at times, can be sticklers about the use of time depending on the person. So naturally in your case maybe... two or three years would be standard enough?
And thirdly, if you plan on getting one even after that. Then one of you will have to propose to each other and have the matrimony. And afterwards THAT'S when you get the blessing of longer life and youth. But the repercussions aren't meant to be laughed at. Ultimately, when you marry a demon and you receive the blessings of Hell, you go to Hell, and become a demon. If you die in Hell there's a good chance you'll end up in the abyss of purgatory. Then it'll be up to the Heavens if you or they choose for you to be reborn again. As what? I have no idea. It's pretty random."
Janette didn't know what to think so far, but Arabella continued.
"And if you decide on breaking up BEFORE even thinking of proposing, your so-called application for the blessing will be denied. And after that you will probably have to go to church for a while in order for you to "purify" your soul for Heaven to receive you when you pass on. But that's an "IF". I'm just laying down the facts of the whole thing before you go and do something stupid." Arabella explained.
Arabella then smirked at Alastor. "And I DO believe that you know a Magne that can help in this situation. And that SHE owes you a favor~."
Alastor hummed. "I suppose now would be as good a time as any. You DO know that she'll bring EVERYONE here though, correct?" That was the part Alastor didn't like. Surrounding Janette with a bunch of demons was not supposed to be a part of today's agenda.
"Well... it doesn't have to be now... and though I have these feelings for you Al, I still..." Janette thought hard for a few minutes about her soul's safety. But then remembered that her grandma would've told her to go where her heart led her to. But to also use her head when making the right choices. And if it ended with her where her very being was at stake. Then so be it. Her grandma was headstrong like that. One of the reasons why her stubborn ass grandfather loved her so much was that he overlooked the difference of their ideals.
Alastor was starting to get worried about Janette's silence. Was she second guessing herself? Then she piped up with a smile. "You know what? I'll... give it a shot... if it means that I'll be with you longer, even after death... Then I wouldn't have it any other way." She smiled warmly.
"Janette dear..." Alastor blushed and he didn't bother to hide it since it was all out in the open now. "You've just made a demon very happy~" He circled his arms around her waist, pulling her close. He leaned in for a kiss-
"Holy Hell." A record scratch sounded as Alastor quickly located the source, a familiar white and pink spider demon, staring wide eyed and in shock.
Janette tilted her head in confusion. "Al... who is this...?" She said with apprehension as she subconsciously grabbed her cross. Putting an energy barrier with her intentions of protection.
"Wait until Charlie hears this, HEY CHARLIE!" The demon called. "Strawberry pimp's got a girlfriend!"
"Angeldust... if you know what's good for you... you'll start running." Alastor seethed, pissed that he ruined their moment.
"O-Oh shit-" Angeldust was ready to run too, but everyone else from the hotel was blocking his exit.
Alastor heavily sighed. "Now it's completely lost... what are you all doing here?"
"We were looking for you. You've been gone for quite awhile... What was Angeldust saying about you having a girlfriend?" A blonde haired, ghostly white skinned, yellow eyed, cheerful demon asked.
"I- Well, this is rather new to me as well, but I do believe we are a couple?" He looked to Janette for confirmation.
Janette looked at the group of colorful demons. Besides the two aforementioned demons there was Nifty who gave a cheerful wave to her. To which she smiled and waved back. There was a grey skinned woman that had a pink "x" over her left eye and had long white hair. She appeared to be a moth demon based on her color palette. And the last one was a black and white grumpy looking cat with red wings that had poker symbols on them. He had big red and puffy eyebrows, wore a top hat, and had yellow eyes.
Janette finally looked to Alastor, still seeming lost and confused as ever. But when she processed his question. She slowly shook her head in confirmation.
Arabella then piped in from where she laid on the couch. "I~ might've sent them an anonymous tip that you were currently residing here and that Nifty knew where to look~ Kinda figured that your friends shouldn't be left in the dark on where you were for so~ long~. There's also the fact that you need that favor from the Princess there~" she sung out casually.
Alastor sighed again. "Wonderful. Just what I wasn't ready for.." He grumbled the last part to himself before deciding to get introductions over with and perked up to his usual smile and stance. "Well Then! I shall introduce you all! Janette, this is Charlie Magne, the one we were speaking about earlier and the Princess of Hell! Beside her is her girlfriend and staff manager, Vaggie, she's just a doll." To that he got a glare, which he ignored. "You already know Nifty, and then there is the front desk man, Husker. Finally there is Hell's pornstar, Angeldust."
There was a series of greetings from the demons, ranging from Charlie's excitable "Hello!" to Angeldust's "Please don't let him kill me!"
"Guys, this is my girlfriend, Janette." Alastor wrapped an arm around her waist.
"It's nice to meet you all. I wanted to meet you sometime soon after Alastor told me about you guys and the hotel. Which I think is fantastic. I... was hoping that I--- we could ask you a favor?" Janette tentatively asked.
"A... favor?" Charlie asked.
"Please don't tell me you made a deal with him.." Vaggie stared at Charlie, who nervously laughed.
"Oh, no! No! It's nothing like that... I was actually hoping to receive or "apply" for something that your family does..." Janette asked shyly.
"You want... a "Magne's Blessing"? Why?" Charlie could see her cross. She was on the right path, why would she want to steer off it? It went against her beliefs.
"Well... you see... I believe in lasting relationships. And even though dating a demon doesn't exactly qualify a free ticket to the Heavenly Gates... I want to be with him even after I pass on. My friend on the couch explained what may happen if I do this. But... have you ever loved someone that you would go to the ends of the Earth to do something. Romantic or not."
Charlie smiled. "I have."
"Do you even KNOW him? That... Radio Demon? What he does?" Vaggie asked, not so easily convinced as she seethed out his name in venom.
"No, I don't know what he has done in his previous life or what he has done in Hell. But that's what dating is supposed to be. To find out if the relationship will work out. Plus.... Despite what most "people" think of him... he's actually quite sweet and protective... when he wants to be... on the other hand, I know that he can be a smartass and a bit of a dick. But... I've been through worse." Janette cringed thinking about her family.
"I... will take that as a compliment." Alastor chuckled. He knew it was true. He knew that he was both an asshole and a dick, and he was rather proud of it.
Janette chuckled and rolled her eyes while shaking her head. "I also know that, with the right methods, I can reign him in if he gets too cheeky or tries to do something stupid. Along with his shadow friends. Isn't that right?" She pointedly said to Alastor's shadow reaching out and trying to strangle Angel. To which AD jumped back with a squeak. She then pointedly glared at Alastor and tapped her foot impatiently.
"Fine, fine. I apologize and I will leave Angel alone... for now." Alastor apologized immediately, not wanting her to be mad at him. "In Hell is a different story though... Angeldust."
Angeldust nervously chuckled and hid behind Vaggie who only rolled her eye.
"Well...? Do you think that I could apply?" Janette nervously asked.
All the demons were staring between Alastor and Janette. That... had been admittedly impressive.
"Yes, you can apply." Charlie finally agreed.
Janette smiled in both relief and excitement. "You hear that SB? We're official!" Janette squealed as she pecked him on his smiling cheek.
Alastor laughed, picking her up and twirling her around before putting her down and hugging her. "That's wonderful, darling! Truly splendid!" He wasn't sure he was ready to kiss in front of others quite yet. He was surprisingly self conscious about it, actually.
Janette giggled at his antics. Arabella "awwwed" at the sweet moment. She finally got up and decided to join in the occasion. It wasn't till she was in view that Angel finally recognized her and fanboyed screamed. Leaving the entire room surprised, especially his friends as they looked terribly confused.
"Holy Hell, your Pop Rox! I'm a huge fan of your work! My name's Angeldust!" Fear temporarily forgotten, he went to shake hands with the succubus.
She smiled and shook his hands. "It's nice to meet one of my fans and that my reputation still precedes me. And you're the porn star that works for ol Val, correct~?"
"Yes ma'am!" Angeldust was unbelievably happy that she knew his work too..
"Of course they'd know each other.." Al sighed.
Janette chuckled. "So, um, are you guys planning on staying for the night or something? If so, then can I ask that you wouldn't do anything inappropriate here? We have children probably eavesdropping on us..."
"AH- SHE KNEW LIAL! RETREAT!"
"I, uh, t-told you this was, um, a bad idea Ben!"
Angeldust looked at the two younger kids then looked at Al and Janette raising a curious brow along with the other crew.
Alastor sighed. "They are residents here. They died here." Alastor turned to the boys. "Come along gentlemen, it isn't polite to listen in, unless you want to be cast down to Hell yourselves!" Alastor warned playfully, leading them out of the room and up the stairs.
Vaggie's mouth dropped at the semi gentle display for the children. And Charlie wanted to both cry and hug them at the same time. Nifty was wondering if there was anything she could do in terms of helping out. Husk had snuck into the kitchen and found the wine collection on the shelves and helped himself. While Angel also seemed to be confused about the whole situation.
"WHAT THE HELL!?" Vaggie screamed out.
"Was... that really just Alastor just now or am I in some weird dream?" Angeldust questioned.
"They are so cute! But it's sad that they died so young... I wonder what happened?" Charlie concluded.
"I wouldn't know. I myself have only been here for a short time and have only met a small handful of the spirits here." This piqued Vaggie's interest.
"A handful? How many are here?" Vaggie asked, curious.
"Well according to what Al has told me... not counting him and Arabella... 20. Sometimes more since the house is on a layline..."
Angel made a confused face. "A lay...what?"
"A layline is basically like a general transportation system for the lost and restless spirits. And this house is basically their pitstop..." Janette sighed.
"Yes, that is quite correct. Good afternoon, mistress Janette." Rosaline was back, though she was admittedly worried about being around so many demons.
"Hey Rosaline. I'm going to set up the living room for our guests. Can you tell me where the sheets and such are? And are they clean?" Janette asked politely.
"Master Alastor washes the sheets weekly due to Madam Arabella's... activities. They are in the closet down the hall to the right, be weary, Anna likes to scare people away from her closet... Mistress... how long are the demons staying..?" She asked hesitantly.
