LU JOAKER: Selene-Alpha

Howl

Howl

May 25, 2022

“Brother – the Aerens. Their scents are strong.” The youngest whined, the blue wolf whirled on the youngest with a snarl and a snap of his jaws, the blue wolf questioned. “What does it matter?”
The second wolf stepped forward, looking at the eldest brother for answers.
Even though the agitation of the eldest brother bled off him, he could not resist the need to come closer and question him with the need to know.
This elder litter mate had always been the one who guided them. The one that had promised to share a mate!
To protect her!
Before retrieving their memories, they just knew that they wanted to share a mate to better protect both her and their pups, but with the memories, they knew why.
Their beloved, she… he could not even finish the thought, only questioning his brother softly as if he would give him hope. “So what of our life now? What are we, then?” His fur was scarlet in color, eyes a beautiful green-veined in silver. The second born wolf only felt that his world was suddenly very bleak. He is a mature male wolf but looking at the blue coated eldest brother, he felt that he had all the answers, that he was a pup again yet to mature. Yes, this eldest litter mate would assist him.
It is just… he did not expect his reaction.
“Enough!” the eldest roared. His ivory fangs bared while looking down at the younger litter mate. His blue fur rippled, the six pawed, twin-tailed wolf froze, eyes widening at the next memory.
The form of the beast flashed and meshed with one he knew all too well. The she-wolf from their pack from that life. Borne to the Selene-alpha and the Alpha at that time. He had considered so much.
The wolf brothers had thought many times of the female going into heat and claiming her in order. Even if they had to share her and might have pups who were of mixed species and worse; unable to pass on their bloodline.
One must be aware that wolves had scarce females, in that life and world, not due to birth but because they tended to die from their heat. The chosen male they mate with cannot bear her demanding heat, but they were so territorial they rather her die in agony than to share her with another. Upon finding her who smelled of she-wolf but was much more beautiful, powerful and unique in form, the four had decided that she was worthy.
The blue wolf felt his hearts stutter at what happened next.
Back then, it had been five triple moon cycles following her.
How had they felt at that time?
What was the use? She is no longer alive, their efforts... worthless! The blue male felt that he had been a failure. As an inherent Alpha, it is his duty to protect his female, but he failed. There she was—dead. He could not... the howl of mourning was torn from his throat. The world trembled beneath him. The sky became clouded, as if expressing his pain. It echoed far and wide. Those who heard and understood wolf-speak knew that a beloved had died. The three joined in song and those who heard howled in a distance as if to help shoulder the grief of the three males.
Standing on all six paws, the three males lowered their heads before throwing them back and howling in pain once more. This feeling, it is not a feeling that they would expect. As though they were already true mates with this female. Even though they had failed countless times to have her.
Their minds seemed to be breaking down at their loss once again.
The eldest among them roared a howl. He silently pleaded with the wolf deity for a miracle. Howled it.
The bodies of the Aerens that were scattered around them still unnoticed. Even the lone Formel who had instigated it had also yet to be discovered.
Not too far away, a shadow watched them. Her three eyes squinted, the eyes; two, vertical on the side of her head, while a horizontal one was located directly above her crimson-red beak. The eyes, once a clear glacial blue, bled scarlet filled with unreconciled madness. The once beautiful golden plumes looked dull, void of health and life—nothing like how they looked before, in her prime. The sharp claws, which dug into the ground, left deep gouges.
She was not reconciled!
Her Yuwl had fallen. The mother had fallen into madness, forcing the prey to stampede the pigs who were on a hunt. She had waited for the young Sow to appear once again with a pelt similar in color to her plumes, only to have it continue to hide for several suns cycles.
She had thought that if she led the hungry Aerens of her Yuwl, they would both feed on a few of the piglets and chase her out. How was she to know they would go mad from bloodlust and slaughter the entire Kur of piglets?
The wolves and Löwe had always protected the pigs. Had always guarded them strictly until this time.
The pigs brought luck to their world, keeping it in balance, but were they not also worthy?
The Koi who dwelled in the ancient rivers also brought luck, assisting the souls on their journey to the afterlife. They were considered the true luck, but what about them?
The young Sow, she came to know, held true value after the elders of her Yuwl informed her that she is a rare pig—once in every thousand suns cycles.
She admits, she cared, her Yuwl had fallen after all, the mother had—she just wanted to see her again! The screech built in her throat, but she held it back.
She thought that, if she could only see her, they would have a better life. That it would all change.
She will never see her Yuwl again.
Never be able to huddle with her Yuwl again.
The young Formel released a low call, unique to her own kind. Soon after, her entire body fell to the ground.
She did not regret killing them. It was all for the good of the Yuwl, the Kur… but with the death of the being she had thought would become their saviour, there was no need to continue living.
Upon her death, a lone tear escaped, expressing her sorrow.
~
The three wolves, on the other hand, were still lost in their grief. An insignificant Formel is unworthy of their presence.
Again!
Again!
It kept on repeating.
So close, but never close enough.
The eldest felt that no matter how much power he used it was futile.
[Do you wish to save her?]
“Yes.” He roared without hesitation, ignoring the sad howls of his siblings.
[Her power is unstable. She needs anchor mates to keep her sane. You remember your first life with her, yes?]
“I do.” The eldest of the wolves shed his beast form and exposed his weakest form. The form of the two-legged, furless one.
The cold hit him immediately. Barely, he waited for the voice in his mind to continue speaking.
So what, if he was probably going mad? If it gives him hope, he will take it!
He will never give up, not after so many failed times.
She is theirs! As they are hers!
Once again, the voice spoke.
[In total, her mates will not be you three brothers alone, but more. You may not remember after this life, but you must accept this if you wish for her to become your beloved in every sense.]
“We accept!” the sound of the younger brother echoed in his ears, “Yes, we accept.” The eldest said in a solemn tone. Blood was already beginning to creep up his throat. He knew he was dying. His will to survive was only strong enough for him to answer this voice and try to be with her in all sense, when they met again.
[Save the young boar and prepare.]
Confused, the eldest looked around, but the third brother bounded forward and lifted a tiny, mangled form in his jaws.
You can see that before their arrival this young boar had attempted to shield her and failed.
The young boar is sturdy in this weak half form; two hooved feet and clawed hands. His skin was pitch black, tuft of his ears and along his arms, but his features were delicate. The now scattered ‘head tuft’ of fur was long, wavy and scattered, filled with silver streaks within.
The wolf looked away from his younger litter mate with a sneer, a boar to share his female. He wished to lunge forward and tear him apart, but the voice had informed him and spoke once more.
[Half the luck from the luck child has been passed to you and shared between you four. You may not be the only four, but this all depends on how stable you can keep… my daughter. The life after this will be difficult. She will not hold memory of either of you and, though the core of your being
may possess the second tier Wolf guardian, you may be something else entirely.]
In a blink there was a sound of breaking, a flash of light, roaring in his ears and suddenly, darkness.
~
The world slowly fell apart. All life was absorbed, stored in a small ball until it hovered in the darkness of space.
A few sparks escaped, floating away just before the ball filled with life was devoured.
The balls floated and floated. A world came into view, many star years away, drawing them into different realms within it. The world core dwelling within released a sigh. In this world, life formed, expanding until it flourished in each realm.
The sparks of life which had escaped the world blended well, forgetting their purpose. Time continued to flow before the next life unfolded and a small life was birthed.
The world, which had a few realms expanded, attracting several types of powerful beings.
Why is that?
This world’s world core was in fact a universal core. The realms? They were compact galaxies able to house powerful beings who can later create pocket realms. All of this, though, is not important. What is, though, is that the world changed at a rapid pace and the guardian who had been tortured was released to be reborn once more.
Who knew the pig, luck child and guardian had an issue? A she-wolf who was somewhat broken was birthed. Upon her birth the now tortured World core known as Gaia had a clarity. The sky was clear, and the world healed but, alas, it was too late.
Too many events occurred before her birth.
What also was an issue is that an enemy also was drawn by the young she-wolf.
