Chapter 16: My bias’ rest day
After dinner, the members of HELIOS and my mother properly introduced themselves to each other.
It was an awkward exchange but my mom seemed relieved to finally meet them.
My future father, then, quickly rushed his coworkers to go home and pushed them out of the front door.
My mother, perplexed about her boyfriend’s reaction, asked him why he suddenly rushed his friends to go home.
Hifumi Tooru, taken aback by her asking, nervously answered her.
Even though he did his best at staying calm, he still looked very suspicious so I quickly intervened and asked my mom for a favor that I actually didn’t need.
As my mother was preoccupied with my made up request, she seemed to have completely forgotten about the matter since she simply went to bed after she took her bath.
That night, my bias and I precisely planned our story by text so that my mom won’t feel suspicious of us anymore.
The morning came and we all started the day like usual.
I prepared breakfast and my lunch box with my mom. Hifumi Tooru stayed in bed since he didn’t have any work.
My mom and I enjoyed breakfast together and left a portion to my future dad. We both walked out of the apartment together and separated at the bus stop.
I arrived at my high school and time passed by quickly.
All my classes were over and as I was leaving the school, I received a call from my bias on my phone.
I immediately accepted it, wondering why he was calling me now, and he asked me if school was over.
I said yes and he told me to come to the nearest park and to find his car.
I didn’t question him much and lightly jogged to the place he was telling me to go.
When I got near the park, Hifumi Tooru said that he could see me.
I then stopped running and searched for his car.
When his car appeared in my field of vision, I crossed the street and rushed into the passenger seat.
I put my school bag on the back seat and immediately put on my seat belt.
My future dad asked me about my day and I told him that my classmates really believed that I missed school yesterday because I got a cold.
He proudly bragged that it was all because of his influence while he started his car.
I slightly got a heart attack from seeing this rare side of him.
I then asked him why he suddenly decided to pick me up and he told me his parents kept their promise.
It didn’t take long for me to understand that I was going to officially meet my future grand-parents and I suddenly got nervous and had a mental breakdown since I wasn’t prepared to meet them yet.
My mother, my bias and I all expected to meet them next week and I, thinking I had enough time to brace my heart, had to think about what I should say to them in less than a few hours.
As I was mentally panicking, Hifumi Tooru explained that we were going to pick my mom first before going to his parents’ place.
I somehow was more calm than I thought and was able to hear what he said and replied to him.
He seemed worried about me and tried to calm me down by reassuring me that everything will be alright.
I felt touched by his effort to make me feel better and began to think more rationally by planning what I should say to my future grand-parents.
I first thanked my bias for his comforting words and told him I’ll definitely won’t mess up the meeting by practicing my greetings.
He wished me luck and I promptly wrote what I should say on my phone.
