Sorry for talking so much. I never have to do that again. We never have to speak of this.

But if you DO feel compelled to talk about it, I promise I won't run away from any of your comments.

I wanted to make this bonus episode for, well, all the reasons I said in the episode. It took longer than I anticipated and wound up being longer than I wanted. But I hope it was at the very least interesting, and hopefully comforting to anybody who needed that comfort.

(Oh, and as for Victor's pronouns, I don't think the character has any desire to really confront something like that. I always use he/him for Victor because I think of he/him as more gender neutral, and I think that's how Victor sees it. But I know lots of people don't think that way. So you can use they/them if you think that feels right for Victor. Since he's in most scenes, pronouns don't really come up until later, and I've been experimenting with certain characters only using he/him for Victor and others using they/them).

This is still a horror-comedy. And it still updates every other Friday, so you'll have a regular episode of the comic next Friday!

As always, I am deeply appreciative of everyone who engages with this comic. See you next week. <3

People definitely do emphasize romance stories with queer characters, but stories about queer character without the romance being central -- which explore friendship, vulnerability, trust, identity, supporting one another, and so on -- are vitally important too! And people DO want to read those stories.

What I mean is, don't knock your story for including queer characters but not centering on romance! It doesn't make that part of your characters meaningless or unimportant. Queer people just existing, going about life, figuring out who they are, seeking connection and community, etc. is still pretty damn radical. Our existence is a victory in and of itself.

And aside from that, you as an artist and storyteller are processing your experiences and exploring what's possible through your creativity -- despite the fears and doubts you may have -- which takes real guts. That's incredibly meaningful too.

Sorry to write so much, I just feel strongly that this does in fact matter a lot. Keep doing your thing, for as long as it suits you! I hope you have a great Pride month as well!

If the dead are supposed to rest in peace, then why won’t the living leave Victor Entrails alone?

Of all the Cursed Creatures in the mysterious town of Pleasant Oaks, Victor is undoubtedly the last one that wants to be bothered. Yet, he can't keep his name out of the paper, and his weird mad scientist neighbor, Frank, won’t stop showing up at his porch. But thankfully, he's managed to stay out of trouble by keeping the horrors of Pleasant Oaks on the other side of the door.

But when a good-hearted, young outsider crash lands into Pleasant Oaks and shows up at Victor's doorstep, Victor finds himself making the deadliest mistake of all...caring.

The Monster At My Door is a supernatural-horror-comedy about the funny and uncomfortable nature of life, death, and friendship.

It contains depictions of cartoonish blood, violence, and disturbing situations. Viewer discretion is advised for readers under 13.
