Looking forward, I see the rock moving. How? Leaping up, I push I back. Nothing can come in here.
“No!” Layla calls. “It could be someone!”
I stare at her. No-one out there should have stayed. We heard them running. There is no conceivable way that a sane person would have found us. And even if it was someone, as soon as she moves that rock then not only will they be dead, but us to. It is dangerous. We have been living here for five weeks, has she been oblivious to everything that has happened? We had already been killed more than once. All because of her!
“Please…” she whispers, “I want to see someone, I need to.”
Pitiful. I swear, this is why all of us are weak. We think that we need other people, we hope for love and happiness. This is not two months ago. This is now. This place is not your childhood, which is all gone. They died! You saw them die with your own eyes. Never less, I must. Because these crazy personalities will kill itself too. Opening the rock door is see the bloody face of another human. Our eyes connect for a second and she passes out. Cursing slightly, I drag the girl into the corner. She has several scratches and a deep gnash on her forehead. She’ll die soon. What fun. More trauma for us I guess. She’s wet and filthy, her clothes ripped, her hair torn. How unlucky. I sit her up and start wrapping her up with the little bandages we bothered scavenging. Starting the fire for the 5th time I wait. When she wakes up she’ll be surprised. I hope there is no one else. This place is already to much of a nightmare, I fi have to keep bringing in more people, I will just end up shoving them all out. These people are just dead weight. Useless. Unhelpful. Bait. Nothing of use. If only all of us could figure out that we need to be away from people to survive. Idiots. I sit back, the fire crackling growing higher by the moment, as if it is trying to devour all of us. I wait, slightly closing my eyes. The rain continues, refusing to die down. Tonight is going to be a long night.
