Janette woke up early as the sun peeked out from her curtains. She tried to get up. But something held her down. She was confused at first till she saw a sleeping Alastor tangled in the sheets with their legs intertwined. She was about to yell in surprise until she remembered last night.
'Right, me and Alastor just slept together.' she flushed at the thought. But then she thought of something devious. She saw his peaceful sleeping face. Even while he slept he still smiled. But it was more relaxed and less forced. She had one chance. Might as well take it! She gently rubbed his relaxed ear tufts. 'They're so soft!!!!' She internally squealed.
He groaned a little, leaning into the touch.
She then saw how his deer tail was wagging and she wanted to squeal with delight with how the cute red, black and white tail was flicking back and forth. She reached down and gently felt the butt fluff. She was on cloud nine. Until she heard a purr within a voice.
“Enjoying your exploration, my dear~?” Alastor asked, grinning his usual grin and eyes half lidded.
"Eep!..... How long have you been awake…?" She asked tentatively.
He yawned, sitting up a little. “Since you touched my ear tufts. Soft, are they not?”
She flushed with embarrassment. ".... Sorry…. And good morning?" She asked with a cute and awkward smile.
He laughed jovially. “It’s quite alright! I didn’t mind at all! And good morning to you as well, My Doe.”
She flushed at the nickname but smiled. "Good morning My Buck." She then leaned down and kissed him long and sweetly.
He flushed at the nickname and the kiss. Then he kissed back. “When did you start calling me that?” He asked curiously.
"Last night before I fell asleep…. I… do you remember what I told you before I drifted off…?"
“I remember you saying that you loved me, to which I replied back… and good night. Which I’d also responded back to.” He replied after a moment of trying to recall.
"..."
She was about to remind him… until there was record scratch sound in the room. Yep he remembered.
He flushed, unsure if he should be excited or hide. It was the last thing he was expecting from his Janette, but perhaps it was to be expected?
"... Alastor…? Like I said. We can wait until everything settles down and your friends leave. I don't want to make you uncomfortable." She said softly as she kissed his chest.
“... Not at all, my dear, you’ve just caught me off guard is all. I am waiting for you, Janette, I want you to be comfortable before we take that step.” He replied in a slightly serious tone.
She smiled at him. "I am. I wouldn't have said anything if I wasn't ready. I love you Al, and I know that you were very touchy about others touching you without permission. So I just want to make sure that I didn't put you off or anything?"
“You aren’t just anybody…” He kissed her deeply. “Besides, you seem to be the same way with spirits.”
She kissed back with a little more force. "I, admittedly, am. But that's years of my very "in tuned" grandmother teaching me the ways of how to protect myself after hearing those stories of exorcisms and such." She weakly smiled at him as she nuzzled his chest.
He chuckled quietly, kissing the crown of her hair. “She was a wise woman, you should protect yourself from others.” He hugged her close, humming a quiet tune, “Object of my Affection” by the Boswell Sisters.

It was then that her alarm was starting to beep louder and louder. That was until Alastor turned it off. "That's my cue to get dressed. Do you mind?" She gestured to the door.
“If I must..” He mock sighed in defeat. He left for her to do her thing, still humming the tune.
After she was done freshening herself in her bathroom, she changed into a blue bra, blue flowy flower pattern shirt, blue lacy panties, and mid length black skirt. She then slipped some comfortable black flats and then brushed out her brown hair and put it in a casual low ponytail.
She then knocked on the door, indicating that she was done.
Alastor was back in his usual red and black uniform, with an iris in hand. “I thought My Doe could use a flower~” He tucked it in her hair. “Stunning!” There was applause in the background.
She blushed and playfully swatted him in the chest with an amused smile. "You snake charmer you~" she giggled as she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a peck to his lips as her and his foreheads touched each other as they stared into each other's eyes.
“I can charm more than snakes…” He started sniffing and kissing her neck. “My Doe~”
She blushed and giggled like a schoolgirl. She kissed him on the cheek. "Okay my Smiley Buckeroo~ we gotta wake up the others before the reno people come."
“Yes, we probably should.. Would you like to make breakfast, or shall I?” Alastor offered as he went to her door.
"I think I'll make some french toast strips with a fruit salad. How does that sound? And you wake up everyone?"
“That sounds divine~” He purred. “Yes, I’ll get the others. Shall I have Rosaline gather everyone’s attachment objects while we are busy?” Alastor asked.
"Yes. And just put them in my room since I'm saving it for last." She said as she came into the living room where everyone still slept soundly.
Alastor summoned his cane, smirking devilishly. “Hello, hello. Is this thing on?”
The cane replied. “I’m wide awake and ready to serve!”
“Good, good! I want you to broadcast that one meme the humans are using nowadays… I believe it’s on that Tiktok thingy.”
“Freaks, m’lord?”
“Ah yes! That’s the one!” And thus “Freaks” by Timmy Trumpet played at its highest volume, scaring everyone awake.
Janette already had her ears covered and was trying to stifle her laughter at all the scattered and freaked out demons clutching their blankets and chests. Angeldust in particular came to the realization and was rightly pissed.
“Don’t look at me that way dear friend! Don’t forget… your time is still limited.” Alastor chirped before promptly turning around and going to Rosaline’s room. Not before giving his little Doe a kiss on the lips, once again humming that tune.
She blushed and then made her way towards the kitchen to get started with breakfast.
As time flew by, everyone was up and ready and sitting at the table for breakfast.
"Alright everyone~ French Toast Strips are served! Along with maple syrup, whip cream, and fruit bowls of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and peaches!!! Enjoy!" Janette cheered as she passed each of her guests a plate with piles upon piles of food on the table.
“This looks amazing, Janette!” Charlie cheered, eager to dig in.
“Why is there an old woman on the floor?” Vaggie pointed to a white haired, rather well aged, old spirit in a 1890’s servant uniform sitting dutifully on the floor beside the table.
“Quinn is likely just upset that she couldn’t help, that’s all.” Alastor replied, humming at the taste of the french toast strips.
“It has been my job for centuries, Master Alastor.” The old woman, Quinn, replied from the floor.
Janette looked at Quinn and got up from her chair to go introduce herself.
"Hello," she said as she held her hand out for her, "my name is Janette. The house's new owner. It's nice to meet you Quinn." She said with a friendly smile.
The old servant got up and curtsied instead. “And in turn, you are my new mistress. The pleasure is mine.”
"Oh… you don't have to worry about that! We can be friends!" She did her best to curtsy with her skirt.
She gave a warm smile. “That is exactly what Lady Elenore said. A fine mistress she was… I simply like to help around the house.”
Janette smiled at the thought of her aunt Elenore. "Well we're going to have the renovation people here any minute. You can make sure that they don't break anything valuable?"
“Ah! Of course, right away mistress!” For an old ghost, she was rather sprie.
Janette giggled. "The renovation people along with my friends, who are the decoration people, are going to mostly supervise what's going to go where and such--- Oh God!!!!"
Janette suddenly clamped her hands on her head in panic.
“Janette? What’s wrong?” Alastor was beside her in an instant.
"I completely forgot about Sal!" She shrieked. "He's going to stay in his area right?!"
“I’ve already fenced his area in, no need to worry, my dear.” Alastor gave a reassuring smile.
The others were a bit confused. Then Arabella piped in.
"Sal is our "resident" pet 20 footer alligator." She chuckled at their reactions.
“Ya can keep those things as pets?!” Angeldust shrieked.
“P-pet… alligator?” If she could, Charlie would be paler than usual.
“Isn’t that dangerous?” Vaggie asked with concern.
“Cool.” Was Husk’s one worded and blunt reply.
"Question? How clean is an alligator?" Nifty asked curiously.
“Sarah bathes him daily.” Alastor replied.
“Sarah..?” Charlie questioned. “Is she another resident?”
Janette by this time was a bit calmer. "I personally haven't met her yet, mainly because she stays by the backyard pond, but yes she is. And a child at that."
“That’s so sad.. Um… why do some spirits move around and others don’t?” Charlie asked.
“Some spirits are just emotionally attached to that area. It’s like a mental prison they can’t break themselves out of. If and when they do, they will be free to move wherever they please.” Alastor explained.
“Oh..” Charlie looked down. “Spirits are pretty different from demons then, huh?”
"Well compared to the usual stories that depict demons. Then yes. But then again, there's Alastor and then there's Arabella who come from totally different backgrounds but are still demons. So we don't entirely know what's happening in the inner dimensions of the outer realms." Janette explained simply as she brought Alastor back to the table to finish their breakfast.
“Madam Janette, I have brought all the items to your room, except for- oh. Lady Quinn, may I take your plate for safe keeping please?” Rosaline asked. It was the last thing she needed before she had the 20.
“Of course, Mistress Rosaline. Here.” Quinn fetched a glass china plate with royal blue flowers decorating the rim.
“This will be all.” Rosaline gave a hasty half curtsy to the demon party before rushing off.
“Is she ok?” Charlie asked about Rosaline.
"Oh, um, since they're still technically of human nature, in terms of appearance, she's a bit afraid of demons. Most of the adults here are. The children are more open minded and fearless." Janette chuckled.
“I… suppose that makes sense. I wish I could make her feel more comfortable around us-” Charlie was interrupted by none other than Ben.
“GOOOOOOOD MORNINGGGGGGGG!!!!” The boy came running in, tackling Husker into a hug for unknown reasons. The feline didn’t know how to respond. “Oh my gosh, you’re so SOFT!”
"Uhhh, thanks kid." He then picked him up with his pointer finger and thumb. And somehow managed to successfully pry him off and set him down away from himself. Only for Ben to cling onto him again. He huffed in annoyance.
Alastor chuckled. “Look at that, you have a fan.”
"Shut the f---" he looked down at the boy while the boy cuddled in his fur. "Just shut up…!" And when the boy wasn't paying attention, gave Al the bird.
Al ignored it, glancing at Janette with a smirk. “That boy can change anyone, just you wait.”
Janette giggled. While Arabella smirked at Alastor. "Did he change you enough to wanna have little wendigos running around here~?" Arabella teased.
Alastor went red. “W-what-” He sputtered, staring at Arabella.
She smirked wider and wiggled her eyebrows suggestively towards a beet red Janette. Angeldust was at this point hollering out laughing.
“I-I’ve n-never seen ‘im th-that red before!”
Alastor stood up quickly. “I just remembered that I must tend to Selene!” He disappeared quickly.
Janette hid her face in her hands and groaned, "Arabella~ Why~????" She dragged out.
"Sorry hun, if I didn't say anything then he's never gonna do it~." She teased by nudging an elbow playfully on her arm.
“D-do, um, what?” Lial asked from between Angeldust and Vaggie, having followed Ben in.
Angel and Vaggie jumped at his sudden appearance as they weren't paying attention.
He’d flinched when the demons jumped, whispering an apology.
Arabella cooed out, "Nothing that you need to worry your little head about. Just as long as you stay away from Janette's room at night, your innocence will be spared~."
When Arabella said that, he gave a confused look. “Um… ok..?” He turned to Janette. “I was, uh, talking to Atticus earlier… he, um, he was thinking that, uh, maybe you could read him to sleep tonight? So, uh, you can finally meet… and stuff.. His book should be in your room now..”
Janette was instantly touched by the sentiment. "Of course! I'll be honored to!"
“Great!” Lial glanced over to the doorway, the others following his gesture to see someone duck out of sight. “He s-stays on the, um, main floor, uh, fourth bedroom..”
"I'll be sure to visit tonight. And---"
