The weekend finally arrived. It was a Saturday, which means, no more school until the rest of the week.
On the weekend, Leon wakes up a bit late. While he usually would be up before five, on the weekend, he’ll wake up at 5:30 and immediately pray Subuh. After that, he brushed his face, and for a moment, he stood in front of the mirror to consider shaving his slowly growing beard.
“Hmm...” he purred, hands rubbing on what was under his chin. There was some hair he could feel growing on his face—just quite enough to make his skin feels slightly rough. However, it wasn’t too visible on his face. The only reason he’s considering it was because Leon just never liked having much beard growing.
Still, should he shave or should he not? That was the question, and after three minutes of thinking, he decided that he wouldn’t.
He took a quick shower instead and groomed his curly brown hair. And after that, he went to sweep and mop the whole house. He only swept the whole house once a week. On a daily basis, he’d only sweep the kitchen and his room, letting the rest of the house dust until the end of the week. His father had offered him to get a maid to clean up the house, but Leon preferred to not have some stranger roam freely in his private space.
After finishing all of the chores for the week, he grabbed his phone, went to the couch, and turned on the TV. Some celebrity news he doesn’t care about played in the background as he turned on his phone. He noticed that he received two notifications on his phone, and he went to check them out.
He was surprised to be receiving them. Ever since he broke off his friendship with Eli and Reynatra, his phone has been pretty silent. Besides them, he doesn’t particularly have anybody that he’d chat with daily, so—those two texts sort of got him excited.
Yeah, he’s that miserable.
His face lit up as he unlocked his phone, but he quickly got disappointed when he figured out the context of the two messages. One of them was just his father, texting Leon to inform him that he has sent Leon the money for the month. It’s a bit weird, but Leon gets his monthly money in the middle of the month.
Well, out of all the miserable things currently happening in his life, at least he won't go broke. He went and sent a quick ‘thanks’ back to his dad, and he closed out the man’s contact with a relieved smile.
He went and open the other notification. Apparently, a classmate of his made a small group chat of five and went to ask the group about when they’d be able to do their group project. “Oh,” the sound just came out of his mouth, and then he shook his head. Right, he has schoolwork to do.
The chat was busy discussing when they’d be able to do the group project. They had two choices to pick from: either today or tomorrow. Leon much prefers to do the assignment today so he’d be able to rest for the entirety of Sunday, and thankfully, the others agreed on doing the project today as well.
So, he went ahead and prepared to go there.
In the afternoon, he went to his teammate’s house, Melia. The girl sent her address to the group, and Leon was genuinely surprised to figure out that her house wasn’t that far off from his’. She lived on the same block as Leon’s, just a few streets away from his. He took a Go-Jek to her house, and as he arrived, she welcomed him in.
After everyone arrived, they begin working on the group project, and after it was done, the group chatted up a bit. Leon didn’t exactly have anything better to do, so he stayed and listened to his classmate’s conversation. They were gossiping—most of it was them badmouthing the teacher, and he laughed along.
However, besides that conversation, he didn’t quite pay much attention to what they were discussing, mostly because his head felt like it was pounding. As his classmate conversed, he laid down his head on a beanbag that the house has and chose to rest.
Melia offered up food to the group, and they gladly accepted it. Leon wanted to eat with them as well, but when he lifted his head slightly from the bag, he couldn’t raise himself. It was like the bag was holding him down. He couldn’t sit upright, and one of the members of the group looked at him and asked.
“Yo, Leon. Are you going to eat?” Tristan, the only other guy in the group, asked him.
He turned his head slightly towards their direction. He wants to eat, but he’s too tired to do so. He ended up refusing the offer instead. “Nah, sorry. Got no appetite,” he said. “Food looks great, though,” he added, trying to at least weaken the blow.
“Well, alright then,” one of them spoke in response. “Cause you’re not eating, I’ll be taking your portion then, alright?” she followed up, not exactly asking Leon for an answer, but he still gave her a thumbs-up as a confirmation.
As his classmates ate the food the house owner prepared for them, he laid his body upon the beanbag, eyes directed to the ceiling. He was exhausted, and what the hell did he do that made him this tired today? he wondered. His hand hung off the edge of the bag, too tired to fold them properly up his lap.
The house owner, Melia was approaching closer to him to open a drawer. “Hey,” he suddenly said to her, not even averting his gaze from the ceiling. “Do you mind if I sleep?” he asked.
The girl paused for a second before chuckling. “Um, why would I mind? If you’re tired, just... go ahead, sleep,” she told him. And so Leon closed his eyes, taking a quick nap to rest his head before he start to lose his mind.
