Wait a minute! How did this guy know my name? I can’t think about that right now, seeing as I am on the verge of death. At least I know now that I wasn’t alone. That is enough for me. I open my eyes to look at the person who saved me.
He is a man who looks to be around his twenties, red spikey hair, and pale skin. And I mean really pale, almost like it’s translucent. His hair also reminds me of a Japanese cartoon I watched as a kid.
My savior isn’t alone either. To his right is a woman about the same age and the man. Her hair is a bright orange that really reminds me of flames and it covering her left eye. She has the same complexion as the mysterious man.
The other girl to the left had blonde hair tied up in a ponytail and was wearing a gold and black poncho. Unlike the other two, her skin isn’t skin white. I’m not gay, but even I have to admit that she’s really beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, that she almost looks unnatural.
The pretty blonde spoke first. “Angelus, you saved her too late.”
“NO I CAME RIGHT ON TIME,ARTEMISIA. I INTENTIONALLY LET HER GET INJURED SO I CAN HAVE SOME GOOD DATA.”
His name is Angelus? How fitting.
Now the other girl spoke. “Don’t you think that’s overdoing it? What if she died before you could save her?”
“IT WOULDN’T MATTER IF SHE LIVED OR DIE, ALEXANDRIA. THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS TO ME IS IF SHE’S COMPATIBLE WITH THE AVERASBORO IS ALL THAT MATTERS.”
What the hell are they talking about? Better question is why do I get a bad feeling from them, especially the man named Angelus. I don’t get the feeling that he is friendly like an angel should be.
Angelus raised his hand out in front of him. He held a worm-like creature in his hands, with giant, deadly mandibles and a drill in between them. It was stuff straight out of my nightmares.
My body is shaking, whether through fear or the fact that I am dying, I don’t know.
Angelus flips me over using his feet and is dangling the worm right in front of my face.
I want to scream and curse, but I lost so much blood that I can’t even do that.
I hear a voice coming from behind Angelus. Artemisia was it?
“Must you be so cruel, Angelus? Can you at least have the decency to cover her eyes?”
“HER COMFORT MEANS NOTHING TO ME.”
Angelus drops the monster worm right onto my face. From my perspective, it moved in slow motion.
If only I had not been so badly injured, I could have moved out of the way. That’s probably just me being wishful, though. As the worm gets close, all I can do is regret my decision to leave my apartment.
Once the dangerous worm hits my face, it immediately burrows into my brow. Bringing me the worst pain I have ever felt in my life.
My whole body convulses violently and the remaining blood in my body goes shooting upwards and all over the place.
The pain only lasted for a second before my body shut down and my vision went completely black.
Next, I started hallucinating some pretty odd things. Like I saw atoms and particles floating in a blue space. Cells being divided into two, then four, and then they became countless. I saw a universe being created from the big bang.
I see old gods battle with each other in an existence that I don’t really understand. Primal beast hunting and being hunted in an Ancient world.
Another version of me is accepting a Noble peace prize for curing all diseases on the planet. In another life, I am a famous actress on the red carpet for her new movie.
Not all of my different lives were perfect. For example, I was a drug addict after she failed to be a dancer. There are worse ones, but I think you get the picture by now.
One version of me wasn’t even a human being at all, but she was a sentient rock.
I don’t know how long this went on, but I have a feeling that it went on longer than I could have ever imagined.
Eventually I stopped seeing my other selves and just saw black.
