"You can’t run forever Tommy! I’m gonna catch you!”
Tommy hid in the bushes, trying to catch his breath. It was a bit of a normal habit for him to be pursued by a certain dutchie; mostly every time he walks through this side of the trail in order to get home.
“Ah geez, it doesn’t help that Aki flies so quickly too…”
He’d think to himself, leaning his body back against a tree bark.
“But the thing is..how do you even outrun someone who won’t even touch the ground…??”
This time he needed to think. For him, this wasn’t the first time she’d hunt him down for her own fun.
“...Actually, it shouldn’t be hard. Aki can’t stay in the air forever, so it’s more likely she’ll have to touch the ground at some point. If she’s anything like Jay, her endurance isn’t too high, so she has to get tired of flying eventually.”
In the midst of his spaced out thoughts, and almost by perfect timing, his thinking was stopped by the sound of footsteps, and he froze up, trying to stay as still as possible.
“Hm..I wonder where he could’ve gone? He’s probably not tooo far, I’d bet.”
The playful dutchie would giggle and give a quick glance over to the shrubs. Much to her advantage, dutchies like her were able to sense the aura and emotions of other beings.
“It’s almost as if..he’s close by!”
Tommy looked around nervously.
“Oh no, she knows…”
“Think..thiink…I need some way to escape. I’m not letting her deceive me this time!”
The feline had thought of the perfect solution but had to time it correctly.
Aki suddenly opened the bushes above him.
“Peek a boo! I see you!”
“Agh!”
She smirked.
“How are you gonna get yourself out of this one, kitty?”
He grumbled, then tried to move his hand out of Aki’s view.
“You know I have my own ways.”
Aki felt something cold at her feet, and much to her dismay, looking down and finding them frozen in place.
“W-What the-!?”
Tommy pounced at the dutchie, causing her to fall to the ground.
“Gotcha!”
She gasped, stifling a giggle.
“Oh nooo!”
“Guess the tables have turned on you this time, huh?”
The dutchie huffed, and wrapped him in a hug.
“Psh. For now! But I’ll have to admit though, tricking me with your water clone was a smart move!”
The cat wriggled a bit in her hug, starting to blush a little.
“Hah...I guess...I didn’t have a lot of time to think when you started chasing me, so it was a bit of an ‘in-the-moment’ sort of thing. I knew it wasn’t going to keep you distracted for long, so I simply just had to think quickly.”
“As expected of my favorite hero. It definitely worked in your favor this time! But next time, I’m not sure you’ll be so lucky. Heh heh.”
“Aye, I think we’ll both have to see about that. Though, you’re not very quiet when you try to get the jump on me.”
Aki softly laughed, helping her friend up off the ground.
“H-Hey! It’s no fun if I catch you on the spot! I do give you the chance to run away first at least. Besides, you’re very fun to chase after.”
Tommy puffed his cheeks.
“Ya know, if you just wanted a hug, you could’ve just asked!”
The dutchie shrugged.
“You’re right, I could. But then it wouldn’t necessarily be a HUG attack, now would it?”
“..I guess not, but-“
Aki looked at him with a goofy smile.
“Exactly. Now c’mon, let’s get back to the village before it gets dark.”
This comic series is, in a nutshell, going to be based on my own childhood experiences from growing up in the Caribbean with my family.
Caribbean Escapades primarily focuses on Brian and his close friend Usui. Joined by their friends, Sammy, Jinx, and Tyler, as well as their classmates, they leave their home island of St. Monusea and venture across the Caribbean for the summer; they experience new things and new people to befriend, and on occasion, old and familiar faces as well. And who knows? Maybe they'll discover new things about themselves, too!
