Realizing he had picked up a serious illness, Epimethius chartered a flight back to the United States to see his personal doctor in Providence RI. Unfortunately, the sickness took hold on the flight there, taking its first victim before he could even reach the hospital. On the flight, he lost his mind, being overcome with rage and attacking the innocent flight attendant. Fortunately for her, he dropped dead at her feet, but not before showing her in his blood.
Once they landed, the nurse and mutated corpse of Epimethius were rushed to the hospital. The virus, having landed on her face, could tell that something was wrong. There were so many new smells, and so many old ones. The scent of disinfectant, chemical and foreign to her, alarmed her enough for her to forgo infecting the woman. She took flight, airborne, as the best viruses are, and explored the strange new world she had awoken into.
This hospital, unheard of in her time, reeked with unnatural smells, but she recognized many scents of pathogen species she knew so long ago. It wasn’t until she scented something new, a new pathogen she had no knowledge of, that curiosity lead her to track it.
She tracked it to a nearby ICU, where a man lay dying of an extreme fever. It seemed the doctors were just as perplexed as she was. She followed the scent to the eye of a small female human, where much to her surprise, she found her target fighting a lone blood cell. What a strange situation!
Intrigued, she watched, until the plastic eyelash they were on snapped free, plunging the male virus to his demise in a dish of the same horrid chemical she smelled before. Without a second thought, she dove after him. Plunging her claws into the liquid, searing her membrane in the process, she snatched his core, the last remnant of his dose to grated form, and flew him to the safety of a body exiting the hospital. There, through her mutations and enzyme production, she restored his body. He was saved, and wasn’t too happy.
