Edible Soap?

I was in a small town with my family and we walked into a series of connected shops. (You could walk from one shop to the next without going outside) One of the shops was advertising soap made from edible materials. Being the idiot I can sometimes be, I stood there staring at the oddly colored soap wondering if I could eat it.
