Terrance wasn't like the other Alphas during rut; he still had some control over himself, but this rut wasn't like the others. He knew his mate was near but being kept away from him, and it infuriated him to no end.
"Let me out of here, K!" he growled, trying to unlock his door, but the lock was on the outside.
Kanae punched the door, making a Terrance jump back. "I need to come in and give you some stuff so relax and get away from the door!" she yelled back. "If you try to escape from this room I'll kick you so hard in the balls you'll tase the sole of my shoe in the back of your throat!"
Terrance groaned in irritation, knowing she wasn't joking. He stomped to his bed and sat down, waiting for Kanae to enter.
She did and handed him a plastic bag and waited while Terrance went through it.
"Thanks," Terrance said, grabbing the clothes out that smelled just like Mason. "Is he still here?"
Kanae rolled her eyes. "I'm not stupid, T," she said, leaning on the door. "He wasn't happy I sent him away but I know you don't want him here."
Terrance sighed and laid down, shoving his face into Mason's clothes. "Need my mate," he whined, childishly throwing his pillow off the bed. "I'm so bored."
"Usually people don't describe ruts as boring."
The Alpha scoffed. "It doesn't even hurt and I'm not deep enough in it to lose control." He paused in thought. "Unless Mason is here. Then it's harder."
Kanae nodded and pulled a water out of the cooler that Terrance kept in his room specifically for his ruts. She handed it to him and encouraged him to drink.
"It's only a week," she said kindly. "And I'll be in the living room in case you need food or something like that."
Terrance thanked her, but before she left, he stopped her once again. "Can you call Mason every other day to make sure he's alright?" he asked, worried about his mate since he wouldn't be able to see him for a week. "And to tell him I'm alright?"
"I'll do it," Kanae said, patting her friend's shoulder before taking her leave. "Maybe I'll bitch him out for not hiring me!"
"If you intimidate my mate-"
"He's such a firecracker," Kanae called from the living area. "I'm not going to be able to intimidate him."
Terrance snickered to himself before settling down to sleep. He held Mason's shirt close to his face and imagined his mate there beside him, and the thought of it lulled him to sleep.

Mason was pacing his apartment, part of him concerned, the other part bored. He was nervous that Terrance would be in pain or have a difficult time getting through his rut knowing that his mate was around but wouldn't help, and he was bored because both Terrance and Henry were in rut so he had no one to hang out with that knew who he really was.
Everyone else he was acquainted with thought he was sweet and loving; they didn't know his sarcastic side and probably wouldn't approve or know how to respond.
To fight off his boredom, Mason focused on work and cleaning up the already spotless cafe. When he had time, he'd bring things to Terrance's apartment, only to be disappointed when Kanae refused to let him in.
It was Sunday night, and Mason decided to go out to see a movie because he didn't have work the next day and both Henry and Terrance were still in rut, but thankfully nearing the end.
Mason decided to see a horror movie to give him an adrenaline rush, since he'd been bored and dull for the past few days due to his only excitement being MIA.
As he was buying his popcorn, Mason felt a sudden sense of unease. He subtly sniffed the air to see if he could pick up a scent he recognized, but nothing came to mind.
"Sir? Are you alright?" the man selling popcorn asked as Mason had suddenly tensed and was glancing around.
Mason forced a smile. "I'm fine," he said, taking his snack and handing the man his credit card. "Just thought I saw my boyfriend. He likes to sneak up on me."
The man laughed. "Enjoy the movie."
"Thanks," Mason said before taking off and finding the theatre.
He sat down and played on his phone during the commercials, silently hoping he'd get a text from Terrance to tell him that his rut was over. The text never came, but more unease did.
The movie started, but Mason didn't feel safe. It had nothing to do with the creepy music or psychotic little girl on screen either; it had more to do with the feeling that someone was watching him, waiting to make a move.
A sudden pain cut through Mason's arm and he saw a piece of paper had hit him. He lifted it, and in the glow of the movie screen, attempted to read it.
Bathroom, now.
With the short note came pictures of Terrance and some of Henry. They showed them in their apartments, pictures of the dates Terrance had taken him on, and others of them on a day to day basis.
Mason began to panic and stood up, accidentally spilling all of his popcorn. He ignored the mess and nearly ran to the bathroom, horrified that his friend and mate would be hurt if he didn't obey. He didn't see anyone in the bathroom when he arrived, which scared him even more.
Did he miss his chance to save his friend? To save Terrance?
"Who sent me that note and those pictures?" Mason asked in a shaky voice, trying to find a clue to who was threatening him.
A figure in all black walked out of the shadows, reaching the door and locking it so Mason couldn't leave. He was covered from head to toe in dark clothing, but his ankles weren't completely covered, revealing a skull tattoo on his left ankle.
"Who are you?" Mason demanded, but the figure simply held his finger to his covered lips and handed Mason a note.
Mason sighed in defeat and opened the note to read.
Follow all of the instructions you are given or else your mate and friend are to pay the pride for your actions.
It's your choice

"That bitch," Mason growled, knowing that Ezra was behind it. He glanced up at the man in black and held his hands up in surrender. "Don't hurt them. I'll listen."
The figure nodded stiffly and unlocked the door. He guided Mason to the parking lot and pointed to a car, where he was instructed to climb in the back.
The windows were all dark and as soon as he was in the car, the doors were locked and Mason couldn't get out from the inside.
There was a final card sitting on the seat, which Mason grabbed reluctantly.
Good choice.
Can't wait to see you.
