Sorry Sara I may have lied this should have the last heartbreaking scene *Tosses some tissues out* you might need these... also a trigger warning there is some physical abuse that happens at the very end, not detailed but enough that I thought I'd mention it.
The day came and finally Lua would get to say goodbye to his school life, normally he would be expected to start his training to become empress, shadowing the current empress and helping her with her work but they both knew it wasn’t going to happen. The Emperor had already tried to talk to Henri yet he didn’t change, and as much as it hurt him he’d already gone over with Lua about breaking off the engagement. Lua had hoped for a change of heart but seeing Marissa with a new ring he knew it was pointless. He only had to brace for the worst, going home after the graduation was going to be terrible, at least they wouldn’t ask for money back. Lua packed his things and Sheena loaded up the carriage, he was going home tonight. Things he planned on keeping had been left at the guild, his armor, money, weapons, some of his clothes, and personal jewelry were locked in a trunk safe from his mother.
He walked into the hall, his head held high, wearing a white suit wearing one of the last capes that Henri had gifted to him and the first gift he’d ever received from him, a pair of silver ear cuffs. For the first half of the graduation he was left alone with only Ethan as his company, Leon was there to whisk him away to his new home, like Lua he was already packed. He smiled and acted as if it was all okay even to his friends once the ball part started. They all danced with him once as tradition with a friend who was graduating. He was able to stomach dinner, though he was sure he would vomit it up later on the trip back home.
“Lua’aZaer Del Monique, why did you even bother to show up?” Henri said in an angry tone from behind him. This was just like the game but he was taking the place of his sister.
He turned to look at Henri and frowned a little. Marissa was right there next to him looking like she belonged looking pleased with herself. “Greetings Prince Henri Crowned Prince of the Empire, I congratulate you on your graduation today.” He said standing and properly bowing to show respect to the crown like he should if he’d just been anyone else. “You ask why I am here at the Graduation ball? Well I assumed that anyone who graduated today was more than welcome to come, and since I somehow ranked third in our class it was necessary for me to be here.” He told him. He had scored perfectly in math and had clearly been awarded for it as well as an excellency overall certificate for ranking third.
“Well it’s all over now, you are no longer welcomed here, you should have been expelled after the winter ball for all the evil deeds that you committed.” He said irritably.
“Evil deeds? I’ve not once in all my years said anything or done anything ‘evil’ to anyone.”
“There is a whole slew of misdeeds that you have done against Rissa, you and your friends, you should have been kinder to her, she is an Omega and the light magic user, she is also kind and sensitive, and yet you bullied her talking about her place in society. You used your magic to trip her and push her, you’ve even stolen her things and ruined her personal belongings. You’ve sent her multiple threatening letters over the year and yet you say you did no such thing? You disgust me.” He said the other members of the herem were there as well and they were nodding in agreement.
“First of all, the only thing I will admit to is reminding her that she was not at the time your fiancée when she claimed to be multiple times, one that almost got us into trouble with our kingdom's closest allies. Two in case you’ve forgotten I am an Omega as well but I never used that as a reason for anything I did. My genders don’t define me as weak and I have proven that again and again, and don’t use that ‘but she is female’ Bull shit with me I’ve seen female Omega’s handle themselves just fine. As for the letters? That is the biggest joke you’ve brought up yet as every single one of them had a different spelling of my name, my own name Henri. Let’s not forget the simple fact that even writing those would be a waste of ink and a stupid idea in the first place cause who thinks ‘oh let me write a threatening letter and then sign it.’” He was talking cool and evenly but everyone could hear the hurt and anger in his voice. “Let’s also talk about the whole dress thing since you’re clearly somehow hung up on that. You think that I and only I did it because she said so, I in the middle of my heat, walked out of the Omega male dorms, walked past the Alpha Male dorms, past the female Alpha dorms, all while I was in the middle of my heat, somehow got past the ever watchful dorm Mother, somehow picked out Miss De La Cove’s room broke in and ruined her dress. And then went al~l the way back past the Alpha female Dorms, the Alpha Male dorms and back to my room without anyone else seeing me but her? Yes, that completely happened just like all the times I was in another building or on another floor when Miss De La Cove tripped because somehow I sensed exactly where she was and used my magic to trip her, because that’s the kind of evil Villain I am.” A lot of people were watching and a lot of people were nodding in agreement, no one had ever seen him do any of the things he was often accused of. It was always Marissa’s word against his but Henri had always taken Marissa’s side. “I am done Henri, I am tired of all of this, I already signed the annulment agreement to break off our engagement, yet somehow I still foolishly had hope that you’d wake up, that you realized I still loved you for some stupidly foolish reason.” He took off his cape and then yanked off the ear cuffs as if they were poison and threw them at his feet. “Jokes on me, I’m just a stupid foolish Omega, but not any more. I wish you all the happiness you deserve.” He told him and with that he walked out trying his best not to cry, people parted as he marched towards the door, there was a still stunned silence that filled the room till the door slammed shut behind him. “And even with all of this I still find I love you…” he whispered to no one as he bit his lip, lifted his chin, and walked to his family’s carriage.
“Are you alright?” Sheena asked after the door was closed after they had already started moving.
“No but I can pretend to be alright, I’m afraid this might be the end of our line.” He told her
“What do you mean?”
“I have a feeling my mother is going to either kill me or disown me after all I failed her. I don’t know what will happen to you but I hope you can leave that hell hole.” He told her. He pulled out a bag of coins and handed it to her. “If I’m disowned I’m leaving this country, I’m going to the Ashmoon Kingdom, I’m going to restart my life there.” He told her. “I’d love it if you could follow me, if mother lets you go or you go on your own, I want you to have some security, start your life off better elsewhere? Whatever you feel is best for you.” He pressed the bag of coins into her hand. “This is nothing to me so don’t worry about it.” He told her as she looked into the bag with surprise. He’d given her what she would make in four years working for his mother and he knew it.
“Lua you have been my young master for the last few years and you have also been a good friend. I'd love to follow you and do what I can to help you.” She told him. “I’m not just saying that cause you’ve paid me either.” She added putting the bag away.
“Well you and I both know I can’t cook to save my life and I’ll go broke in a year living in inns that will feed me too.” He admitted. "Maybe we’ll rent a little house. I'll work as an adventurer. You can find your own work or join me and we’ll work things out till we find our way as friends.”
“I’d like that, I really do like that idea.” She told him.
They rode on mostly in silence, the closer they got to home the more anxious that he felt and, like he thought he had to ask the coachman to stop only an hour away so he could puke up his dinner. Once they arrived his father took his things to his room and then sent him up the tower where he was to stay until his mother was ready to deal with him. He thankfully had changed clothes in the carriage and laid on the thin mat atop of the thin blanket that was his bed. In the morning a message was sent up with, thankfully, a loaf of bread thanks to Sheena, his mother was furious and he had one chance to redeem himself. A letter addressed to Henri, one that would potentially break his heart. He knew what she meant, it was a suicide note, if she didn’t kill him he was going to be disowned but everyone would be told that he had died either way. So he picked up the pen and paper and wrote what she wanted.
My Dear Henri,
How do I start this? I’ve come to understand my sister’s madness over losing you, except mine was reality and hers were just dreams. I let things go because in the end I was sure we were actually soulmates and somehow we could come through unscathed. I never hurt Marissa, I never raised my voice at her though I had every right to as your fiancé. I blistered my feet, I studied hard, I worked hard, all to become a worthy mate to you but it turns out that it was all in vain. Your heart changed so quickly while mine beat only for you, and now that heart lies shattered on the ground never to feel your warm touch never to be whole again. You’ll never have to worry about seeing me any more because I am leaving so I never have to cross your mind. My sister had it right to leave this empty world rather than spend our long life alone. Even if we found our soulmate somewhere down the line it would have been too late as the depression would have eaten away our souls, our joy, our reason for living, we’d never be the same. I will never be the same. Even if they say time can heal all wounds when you are this broken inside it is no longer plausible. So I am telling you my last goodbye and I really do wish you happiness and joy with the decisions you made. I will still love you eternally.
Good bye my once beloved.
Lua’aZaer Del Monique
He read it over and over again, it sounded like a suicide not with out actually saying he was going to kill himself. He sent it back down for his mother to read and approve of or not. His mother found his letter to be acceptable and the next day he was let down. He found her in her room hovering over the bassinet that held her new pride and joy, her daughter born the night of the ball. She looked at him and he felt paralyzed in fear as she came charging at him and then proceeded to beat him. She grabbed his hair and punched him and yelled at him telling him what a failure he was and how he ruined her plans. When he fell to the ground whimpering she took to kicking him while maids and his father watched on snickering. She pulled out a whip and hit him several times across his back. The last thing she did was to grab a dagger and then his hair and butchered it off. She then told him she had removed him from the family registry and he was no longer welcome there, and he was no longer a Del Monique. Then she had the maids drag him out of the house in the bloody ripped clothes he had on and then threw him off the property completely.
It took him two days to walk to town, he looked a horrid mess but he managed, his only company was his familiar who refused to leave him any longer. Normally she popped in and out as needed but now the little Fairy rabbit stayed by his side. He was thankful for the company. The first thing he did when he got into town was to take a bath and change into clean clothes. The Second was to find an inn for the night and try to eat something. The Third thing he did was finally let it all out as he laid seacurly in his room, he screamed and cried into his pillow and then cried some more till he finally fell asleep.
The Next morning he found himself a mess, his eyes were puffy, his head ached, and he still looked like a train wreck, so he went to the bathhouse again and soothed his bruised body in the hot water till he couldn’t take it any more. Getting out he got dressed into clean clothes, he was ever thankful that he’d hidden a few spare trousers and shirts outside of the house. He went to the Guild to gather his things and then he gave Silvia the letters addressed to his friends, he asked her to give them to them if they showed up and not deliver them like they normally would through the mail. His mother would be watching for him to do so, to contact his friends, she’d have the letters destroyed but if they had been given to the guild they would be safe until one of them picked them up, his bet was on Felicia who liked to come for ingredients and to sell more new potions to the guild. With that and now real money he went on a little shopping spree unsure of what to expect from the Ashmoon kingdom.
He was completely unprepared for what happened after he got there.
