"Lord Griffin?"
I peeked my head behind the curtain in response to Eron's call. The temperature had dropped considerably and we were forced to take shelter in the nearest town. Only Sylus and myself were allowed to rest while the others stood guard outside our hotel. Eron would sleep by my side when it was time to surrender to our dreams.
"Yes?"
"You haven't fed in three days. I will offer my neck at your command." There was worry in his sweet brown eyes. How adorable.
I tucked a finger under his strong chin bringing his face very close to mine. Normally, I would simply bite him, no questions asked, but I was feeling a bit...audacious and decided to try another approach. There was no fear of being rejected because I know I never would.
Kithan may love Eron, but I know that Eron will always love me. His lustful eyes have never left mine and when the opportunity arose to brush my skin, he would take it. His love for me made him a good servant, loyal, and I know his alliance will always be with me.
A shame I could never return that love.
"Is it just your neck that you offer, or is there more that you yearn for?" My breath washed over his attractive face. Slowly those plump red lips parted and haze filmed over his eyes, which I would expect in my presence. There are those who would name me vain, but if they knew who I was then they would understand that that was simply a fact and nothing more.
"I offer everything," Eron whispered.
I wasn't cruel. Reenacting his fantasies were quite amusing and kept me entertained.
"Come with me," I told him, bringing him inside the room. Sylus was lounged one of the large beds to the right with his blood red locks spread around him. He gave Eron a lazy look before zoning off.
When Eron glanced warily at Sylus I eased his gaze over to me with a kind smile on my lips. A rarity, I know.
"Don't mind him, I'm sure he'll enjoy the show."
Eron blushed, but kept his expression stoic like the macho stud he is. I leaned him back down on to the bed, appreciating the sound of the springs bounce. Eron's eyes grew wide with anticipation.
"You know what I want," I told him simply.
He nodded his head before sliding off his clothes in a seductive manner keeping his eyes on mine.
"Sylus dear, you might want to cover your ears. Things might get a little...noisy."
* * *
"Griffin."
Sylus's voice carried out in the darkness of the hotel room with a emotionless tone that I have started to grow accustom to.
"Yes Sylus?" My fingers drifted through the soft locks of Eron's hair. The poor guy fell asleep before I could even finish. I had to do it all by my lonesome. How depressing.
"I want a pale neck."
I frowned. He's been nagging for the bitter taste lately and to be honest, it has me slightly worried. "None of the guards are available."
Sylus gave me a long look.
"You want me to bare my neck?" I gasped.
That would not happen, in fact, it can't happen. If he drinks from me he'll be able to tell that I'm a Siren. Sirens are known to have sweet blood even with pale skin. Marius made sure to keep Sylus in the dark about my origin. Sure he knows that I'm not a full blooded vampire but he doesn't know what my other half is and if he did, it would be dangerous.
"Will you deny me? Your Prince?" he challenged. How sneaky, to play the royalty card on me. Too bad it won't work.
"I would actually, seeing as I have to take care of you and if I'm blood high then I won't be able to. Your father will be very upset with me if you somehow fall victim to a mishap."
"We have three guards and we're both vampires, nothing will get past us."
"And that is where you are wrong."
"I need to feed."
"You'll just have to wait until morning," I told him.
"But I can't wait until morning, I need it now."
"Well there's nothing I can do."
"There is something you can do but you just won't do it. I'll be sure to let my father know about this," he snarled.
"Oh sure. Go ahead and tell your father that you want to drink my blood and possibly have sex with me. He'll definitely support that."
I could see Sylus scowl in the darkness before getting up from the bed and crossing the room. He stopped inches away from my face, with his blood red locks whispering against my skin.
"I get what I want."
"But not tonight," I smirked. It drove him crazy. He went storming back to his bed and didn't look at me again during that night. Even in the morning, he insisted that my presence was nonexistent. The guards were watching him warily, but I just smiled wider. It is just too fun to mess with him. He makes it so easy.
We traveled for quite a while, with Eron fretting over me and Sylus ravaging on any unsuspecting victims. I was becoming slightly concerned with his rather large appetite. Usually one body is enough, but he's been going through the dozens. The guards and I shared a few cautious looks.
"Sylus dear, don't you think you've had enough?" I asked, gently touching his shoulder. The young prince dropped the body from his arms with a loud thud and glared up at me, blood dripping from the elegant curves of his graceful mouth.
"I'm starving," he hissed.
"To be starving is one thing, but this" I gestured to the litter of dead bodies around us, "is something totally different."
Sylus narrowed his eyes at me dangerously as if daring me to challenge him. I was certainly not worried. A little bite from him matches that of a paper cut.
"I wouldn't be so ravenous if you had fed me last night."
I frowned at him. What a childish way to extract revenge. He must not realize that I could care less about his tummy ache that would soon fall upon him. It did more damage to himself then to me. I do not concern myself with his diet, only his life. Should he die, then I will be distraught. Should he gain weight, I could care less. Though, it'd be a damn shame.
"If that is the case then by all means, feed. Just don't gain too much weight, we want to be able to travel at a decent pace," I chirped waving for the guards to lead us back to the car.
"My appetite does not offend you?" he inquired.
An exasperated sigh left my lips as I turned with slight annoyance in my gaze. Trust his immaturity to resurface when I am stuck on a journey with him.
"I care not what you do to your own body as long as you do not die. I was told to keep you alive and that is all. You are free to gorge yourself as much as you like. You will hear no complaints from me."
Sylus narrowed his eyes at my words, clearly not the reaction that he had hoped for.
We made it to the car shortly and as Sylus slid inside the vehicle, I caught sight of him. A man with a beauty that rivaled even my own, with exquisite features I could not match a species to. He traveled with two companions and it seemed they were on quite the journey.
Gentle blonde locks and innocent violet eyes framed by thick long lashes decorated his face along with soft pink lips and elegant features. He was the shortest of his group but not by much.
In his company was a man with long wavy blonde hair that fell to his waist with assorted flowers woven inside hiding long pointed ears. His intense amber eyes had an alluring slant to them and plump lips were a delightful red. He was dressed in tight leathers that showed off his assets nicely.
The last guy was the biggest with deeply tanned skin and burly muscles. His long black hair was braided neatly so that it fell down his back gracefully. His eyes were bright and yellow, darting back and forth, assessing his surroundings, almost as if he were guarding the other men.
My eyes drifted back to the first man. He captivated me in a way that no other being has done. I felt myself wanting to be near him, to touch him, even if only a small brush.
"Lord Griffin?" Eron called, drawing my attention back to my own group. I shook my head slightly as if to clear my scattered thoughts, but slowly I began to look in the man's direction again. While I assumed I would study him unnoticed, I found myself meeting his eyes.
I fell head first into an explosion of emotions. Each one blurred into the other leaving me unsure of what I was truly feeling. It scared me, left me vulnerable.
Who is he?
The man stopped in his tracks and stared at me. The other two men stopped as well to follow his gaze.
"Lord Griffin, we have to go now," Eron whispered urgently, shooting the unfamiliar group apprehensive looks.
I raised a brow at my servant causing him to look away quickly.
"It'd be rude not to say hello," I murmured crossing the street to meet this mysterious man who held me in his grasp.
"Lord Griffin!" Eron panicked.
The closer I got, the more beautiful he became.
When I reached within hearing distance of him I began to speak. "I couldn't help but notice you staring."
The man smiled genuinely and my heart gave a small lurch. How peculiar.
"I do believe it was your eyes that laid on me first," he replied with a voice as smooth as honey. I felt places below clench deliciously.
"Touché. You just have such beautiful eyes, I could not help but stare. Excuse me if that offends you."
He shook his head and I beamed, feeling like a puppy who was praised by his master.
"My name is Noah. Noah Kismet. And you are?"
"Griffin Blackwell. A pleasure to make your acquaintance," I offered my hand and he took it in his own. His skin was so soft and smooth, like a newborn baby.
"These are my friends," the blonde one snorted, "Ezra and Wesley." The blonde one, Ezra, glared at Noah.
"A pleasure to meet you both."
"Likewise," the dark haired one replied brusquely. His eyes were fierce and protective. Doesn't look like he likes me very much, a pity.
"Lord Griffin, it is time we take our leave," a deep voice said from behind me. I glanced back at Sloan who waited patiently, not revealing a single emotion. I nodded my head at him before turning back to Noah. Desperate not to leave his presence, I pulled his arm, yanking him close with my lips right against his ear, singing a soft note that only he could hear. A small gasp left his lips and his violet eyes widened in response.
"Now you will always know where I am, and I you," I whispered to him, stepping back. Then a bit louder, "Until next time." With a small wave, I let Sloan lead me back to our car.
Sylus was glaring out the window at my new acquaintances but I paid him no mind. He was just being childish.
Noah didn't seemed upset at my sudden action or at all offended. Instead, he waved goodbye happily as our car drove off, but his companions shot me deadly looks.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Sylus hissed.
I raised a brow at him. "And who exactly do you think you're talking to? Watch your tongue, child, before I rip it from your mouth."
Sylus tried to mask his fear with a careless façade but I could see the slight quiver of his bottom lip. He should know better then to threaten me.
The rest of the ride I ignored him and everyone else. Only thing in my mind was the slight tug in my gut that let me know, Noah was not that far away.
