It’s Monday and lunchtime rolls around. Mateo and I head to the library, quickly grab our barely edible lunch, and head to the table Teagan’s at. 

“Hey!” She beams with a warm smile, I set her lunch box in front. 

“Hey!... Is Leah not here today?” I ask as Mateo sits beside me. 

“She’s meeting up with Andy before coming here,” She says, munching on her homemade lunch. Lucky. I'd pack lunch off myself if I had the willpower in the morning.

“How cute,” Mateo chuckles. I roll my eyes, it doesn’t sound cute at all. I can’t imagine Andy being romantic, I’m gagging just at the thought of it!

“Your definition of cute is very different from mine, then,” I joke. 

Mateo flashes me a smirk, “Right, like how Caitlin is cute to you?” I choke on my lunch while Mateo laughs. 

“Um, who is this Caitlin?” Teagan chimes in, and her eyes light up eagerly. I hate you, Mateo. 

“No one. Ignore him,” I tell her while trying to regain composure after almost dying. 

“Oh, come on. Why don’t you tell her?” Mateo hums with evil intent. This boy is doing his best to humiliate me, huh?

“Fine, she’s a girl I met over the weekend and I just found her pretty cute–” 

“Bulllshit, you were literally making heart eyes at her!” He says, cackling like a witch. 

“What? No, I wasn’t!” I flush in embarrassment.

I notice Teagan giggling at the situation. “Aww, look at how red he is!” She gushes. 

“Yeah, after almost choking to death–” 

The little feud is cut short when I hear someone say my name. I look beside me and see her, Caitlin. Just end me. 

“Hey, Caitlin. What–What are you doing here?” I ask, clearing my throat. 

She flashes me a soft smile, “Oh, I was about to head to the Writing Lab, but I noticed you…and thought I’d say hi.” She says, gradually turning red. I turn around to see, Teagan and Mateo minding their own business... though, I knew they weren’t actually. 

“Want me to walk you to the Writing Lab?” I ask, trying to get away from these two bastards. 

“Sure!” She beams, the action made my heart flutter. Shit, I’m so screwed. I get up as we head over, I look back to see Mateo and Teagan cheering me on silently, like the dramatic people they are. It's scary just how quickly these two clicked, literally in a matter of minutes.

“About yesterday…” Caitlin brings it up. 

“Right! I wanted to apologize again about that–”

“No-no, I wanted to ask if everything was alright after you guys got home,” She interrupts. 

“Yeah. It was all good, though I hope we didn’t ruin it for you guys?” 

“Nah…I was just a little upset you had to leave so early,” she confesses. My face reddens. 

“O-Oh…” Though we had already made it to the Writing Lab, it was the only thing I could utter. 

“Well, this is my stop! It was great to see you again,” She chirps. She waves goodbye when I suddenly grow a pair of balls, 

“Wait, um, I was wondering if you wanted to exchange numbers,” I hesitate. I hear her chuckle slightly, 

“Of course,” She hums with excitement. I hand her my phone and she does the same. My hands shake as I type my number in, I’m so pathetic. We hand them back to each other and our eyes meet,

“Bye,” She blushes as she enters the room. I look at my phone to see her number. Holy shit, I just asked for her number!

I arrive back at the table, knowing very well I’m a new shade of scarlet. I notice Mateo, Teagan, and now Leah staring at me with large smirks. 

“So?” Leah hints by raising her eyebrows. I grab a seat beside them, trying to hold back my smile. 

“Something definitely happened! I know that smile!” Mateo teases, the three trying to find out what happened. However, I keep silent for a while because it’s fun messing with them. 

“Oh my god, just tell us already! Did you guys kiss–” 

“Woah, we are in a library!” I cut her off before I’m humiliated again. “We just exchanged numbers,” I tell nervously when I look up to see the three with the blankest expression. 

“Seriously? That’s all it takes to have you blushing like a lovesick boy? How disappointing,” Leah says, all three of them shaking their heads.

“We just met, what else is supposed to happen?” I question them, but neither of them are looking at me. I shake my head with a smile, I hate these people.
