Ashton started to wake-up. But not to the normal ringtone he would hear every morning, in fact, it was the sound of city traffic outside his dark room. He groaned at the annoying sound and checked his phone, 'Why the hell do people in the city get traffic at 5:23—IN THE MORNING!?' he mentally screamed. He slowly got out of bed, making it whilst sliding on his slippers; he shuffled his sluggish skinny body to the window and pulled the curtains back. He quickly shut his eyes closed, although it wasn't bright, it was enough light that entered his retinas to cause his eyes to burn. After he let his eyes adjust to the light without looking directly at it, he peered out his window to see how backed-up the traffic was, and to his surprise, he couldn't see the end, it just goes on forever! Lucky for him there wasn't a tall building in front of his aunt and uncle's apartment, just a small pizzeria; he changed into a pair of light blue ripped jeans and a light pink t-shirt before opening his window and climbing onto the roof. He climbed to the top and sat down watching the sun slowly rise, 'How beautiful.' he admirably thought. He had an idea to send a photo of his view with the lovely sunrise to Clara, he took out his phone and of course used facial-id, it's WAY quicker than typing a password or pin, he opened his camera app and snapped a few photos. As he scrolled throught the photos he took, he decided that he'd send the one that captured the birds trying to land onto the pizzeria below. Since neither of them had texted the other since before Clara moved, he had to type her name into the 'search contacts' bar; he added the image and texted 'Look at the view from my aunt and uncle's place! Isn't just lovely??'. He pressed the send button and carefully placed his phone down next to him on the roof, he felt a small but refreshing breeze on his neck and face as he watched the sun gradually rise higher and higher into the lightening blue sky. After about another 5 or 10 minutes he couldn't ignore the fact that his stomach was growling like a fucking dog does at literally AIR, he climbed back into his room, closing and locking the window behind him and headed downstairs. He was still the only one awake, or so he thought; he saw a bright yellow sticky note on the fridge with even brighter yellow highlighter on the edges, it read "Dear Ashton, me and Uncle Owen had to run some errands, we also have to go into work until 6 PM tonight, there's some ramen packages in the pantry if you want to make that for dinner, if not, there's some money paperclips to the back of this note for you to get pizza from across the street. Love, Aunt Millie." He didn't mind ramen so he settled that would be what he has for dinner when the time comes; he grabbed a bowl down from the cabinet near the pantry and filled it with Frosted Flakes, his favorite, from the pantry. He shuffled his way over to the fridge grabbing the gallon of milk, carefully pouring it into his bowl after opening it. Once he finished making his cereal, he carried the bowl to the dining room table and ate while watching a Twitch streamer play Minecraft, a game he played once at Clara's back when he was 8 years old. Speaking of the drama queen, he got a text back from her, "Wooow!!! How pretty!! I don't get views like that where I live in the city, too many tall buildings!" in a separate message she texted, probably with anger, "Even if I did have a view like that here, my mom wouldn't let me go on the roof like that because I'd be 'a bad influence on Fletcher, and her would get hurt.' 🙄" Ashton laughed at this, spitting milk and a few flakes of cereal onto the table in front of him, he knew that Fletcher was Clara's younger brother, he was just an infant back when they first met at 5 years old. He replied with "Only child perks, I took them, you left them 😂". Clara only sent an emoji "😒", Ashton went back to his stream and finished his cereal, he washed his dishes, cleaned the table, and decided to make some treats for his aunt and uncle as a thank you for agreeing with his mom to let him stay here with them.

Ah, isn't it just wonderful to wake up to the annoying sound of noisy people honking the horns of their vehicles at one another? Yeah I didn't think so, because although most people in the city are used to it and don't take it to heart, Ashton, who has only moved into the city recently to stay with his aunt and uncle in their luxurious apartment, absolutely can't stand the sound. Atleast he doesn't need to rely on his phone for alarms! But what could go wrong? Lots, lots WILL go wrong! But what if moving into the city and starting at a new school wasn't so bad after meeting a certain someone in the hidden game room in East Bay Academy?
