The monitors started whirring and Payne was staring at the centuries of artefacts on my wall.
I keyed in Destiny's name and let the algorithm do its work.
"Dude, is this really one of Medusa's snake heads?"
I looked up at him and smiled, "Yeah, I did it on a dare."
"Didn't she like, turn you into rock hard stone or something?"
"Just don't look into her eyes Payne, it really isn't that difficult. She did make me rock hard though," I turned back to my screen and he pretended to gag.
"WHY WOULD YOU FUCK HER?!"
I put my hand up, "Your question should be, why wouldn't I?"
"She's like half a snake bro and legend says she's incredibly ugly with greenish skin or something. How are you turned on by that?!"
I smirked, "That's what legend says, she's actually fucking hot man."
His eyes widened at that, "Fuck you're serious?"
I chuckled, "You have no idea, when I went inside her all her hair snakes rolled back like they've been possessed."
Payne laughed his head off and an annoying nagging thought sneaked into my mind.
She'll never compare to Destiny.
I took a deep breath and pushed that voice away. My monitor chimed and I focused on it, Payne skipping over as well.
MATCH CONFIRMED: TREVOR OSCAR & DESTINY PAIGE
I closed my eyes and sighed, what the fuck?
"What the hell man? Are you sure your machine is not rigged or something?" Payne started flipping my table and checking all the wires and shit while I stood there staring at the monitor.

Destiny's beautiful profile photo stared back at me, her eyes bright and happy.
"No wonder she could dance so well," I mumbled to myself and Payne stopped going through my huge desk.
"Are you hearing yourself Eros? I don't care what the hell is happening here but we have to pair her asap and get this shit out the window. She's just causing a whole lot of unnecessary drama for us."
I nodded, hearing the machine beep as the arrows were being made.
"Will the arrows be ready by tonight?"
I raised an eyebrow, "Why does it matter?"
He showed his phone to me, "Trevor is having a concert here tonight. It's the best time to pair Destiny with him."
My heart pounded a single painful beat, "Let's get to work then."
***
There we were, standing outside the stadium with my cases.
Thunder rumbled in the dark night sky and Payne turned to me, "You okay dude?"
I cleared my throat and nodded, "Course."
The inner turmoil within me felt so thick and heavy that I didn't even realise it was affecting the weather. I breathed in deeply and calmed myself down.
I know better. I have to do this.
Payne flirted with Destiny's Manager earlier on and passed the tickets for the concert to her. Hopefully she will take Destiny here.
Scratch that. She will take Destiny here.
We showed our passes and managed to sneak our cases past security. We got settled in our seats near the centre of the hall. There was a lot of security at the front of the stage and the back of the stadium.
It would be a bit of a problem if they see my bow.
I looked around the huge area, I didn't have a clear shot of the stage. There were way too many humans in front of me.
I got up and Payne gave me a look before raising an eyebrow, "See something you like?"
I rolled my eyes, "Get your head out your dick."
He laughed loudly and smirked, "Go on man, maybe you'll find another Medusa here."
I couldn't help the dumb smile that crossed my face, "Maybe, but work first. I need to find a place to get a proper shot. Do you know where Destiny will be sitting?"
"She'll be somewhere in front in the mosh pits. Don't forget your arrows," he threw the case containing the arrows to me and I caught it swiftly.
He sat there comfortably with a bottle of his protein shake in his hand and I shook my head, striding away to find a good position.
I made my way down, trying to get as close yet far enough for a clean shot.
The whole place darkened and the lights on the stage lit up.
It's starting.
I hurriedly found a place four rows away from the mosh pits. My eyes scanned the crowd, looking for the beautiful redhead.
Trevor came on stage and the screams from the crowd sent me over the edge. It was fucking wild.
I looked up at him, his boyish demeanour and charming smile would sweep every girl off their feet. Destiny will like that. I hope.
I really fucking hope.
Thunder rumbled in the distance and I shook my head, head in the game.
I scanned the mosh pits for her. The crazy girls were jumping and yelling, making it twice as hard to find her.
Trevor started his piece and the shrieking screams threw me back.
Psyche was in the garden, hanging the robes of royals on ropes to dry.
Her brown-red hair glowing under the sun.
My heart beating furiously as I watched her.
I can't do this. I can't do this.
Thunder roared and I felt my heart shrink further.
I have to.
I'd rather see her with someone else than for her to die in my mother's hands.
The King walked by down the riverbank as he did every other week. Psyche told me this.
I heaved tiredly, what I have to do, for you to be free.
I readied my bow and arrow before peeping back out the wall I was hiding behind.
I aimed it at the King, my heart hammering in my ears. Do it, fucking do it.
I let the arrow fly and it pierced his chest right at his heart.
He flew forward slightly, the pain going through him. His guards were at his side within seconds.
Psyche looked over curiously, her slender body bending over ever so slightly to get a better look at the King.
I strung my bow with the second cherry-scented arrow, the sourness seeping out from my heart to the very tips of my fingers.
I aimed it at the beautiful girl who once told me she loved me.
Who once laid back on the sand and watched the stars with me.
Who listened to me telling her about each star.
Who once swam with me in the lake naked, her eyes cautious and shy.
Who once daringly pulled me to her servant bedroom and let me fuck the living life out of her.
Who mouthed 'I love you' to me in a crowded hall of people during special events.
I felt the tears building up behind my eyelids and stood up straight, letting the arrow go.
It dived straight into her heart as she spun around to catch my gaze.
I let out a gasp, I'll do anything for you.
Her eyes lit up in the most gentle and kind way before her aura of passion took over.
The only girl that loved me.
Her eyes skimmed over me with a greenish hue and she turned to look at the King. Her eyes widened and she quickly ran over.
The guards were too bothered to stop her.
She reached out for him and the moment their eyes met, the moment they made physical contact, it was over for me.
My love has found hers.
She'll make a perfect Queen. The perfect companion for the King.
She'll bear and raise his children. She'll grow old with him, loving him and being loved till death do they part.
And I'll never be whole again.
I blinked hard, these visions have to stop.
I took the bow and arrow out, aiming it at Trevor.
Please treat Destiny well. Better than a Queen.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and let the arrow go. It hit him accurately and he lost his beat to the song as he stumbled forward slightly.
A few murmurs sounded around and I spotted her wavy red hair in the midst of the crowd. She glanced around, her eyes never meeting mine.
I felt a heavy stone settle in my heart as I strung the second arrow, as soon as she turned around the arrow hit her and she gasped.
I couldn't bear to look, I didn't want to see them being paired.
I slid the bow back into the case and quickly stood up to leave. The crowd was starting to get crazier and I pushed my way out to the corners of the stadium.
Just as I got there, I felt a force push me against the wall. Destiny's intense eyes gazing straight at me with her hands on my shoulders.
"What are you doing?" She mouthed.
I could hear her tiny whisper in the loud stadium.
"What I have to do," I mouthed back.
Destiny looked at me, a pained expression fluttered past before she had her strong one back on.
"What did you do?" She asked.
How could she still look so beautiful in such a position?
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Trevor hop down the stage and towards our direction.
I calmed myself down and placed a hand on her neck, my thumb stroking her soft cheek, "I hope he loves you more than I do."
Her eyes lit up and I pulled it back quickly, seeing Trevor run up to us.
She breathed hard, her eyes dilating as she tried to focus on me.
Alone.
I looked at her, my heart aching and pounding like how it did centuries ago.
She grabbed my wrist before I could leave and the sparks she gave me felt like electricity flowing through my veins.
"Let me go," I commanded but felt my tone falter at the end. She's hurting, I can't leave her.
I was pulled out of her grasp and I fought against Payne who was grabbing me.
"Let me go. Payne LET ME GO!" I snapped and glared at him.
He glared right back, "YOU KNOW THE STAKES, WE HAVE TO LEAVE NOW!"
I looked back at Destiny just as Trevor reached her and Payne took the chance to haul me out of there.
Their hands touched, their eyes met, their aura merged together and the colours meshed in an amazing display.
I hope this guy is the right one for you Destiny.
I really fucking hope so.
