I wanted Molly's parents to be sweet, loving and supportive, but also a little overbearing sometimes. Mom is a homemaker, maybe into gardening and arts n crafts, and dad is a handyman, a carpenter. Pretty general run-of-the-mill parents, but I think it fits for a small town family!
Molly is an only child. I thought about giving her a sibling, but decided against it since it would distract from the idea of her going to this new place. If she did have a sibling it would probably be a younger brother.
