- Eros -
I've never felt particularly protective over anything in my whole life.
But I was going to keep this woman safe with me.
I stood in front of her as Trevor maniacally ran in looking for Destiny.
She shivered badly behind me and I felt my muscles tighten, what did he do to her?
"DESTINY PAIGE I KNOW YOU ARE HERE!" He yelled and the crowd started giving him weird looks.
He caught me staring at him and stomped over, people moved aside to let him through. He stopped in front of me, his aura was dark and ugly. Something was wrong.
He stared behind me where she was hiding and glared at me, "Let her go."
I folded my arms and stared him down, "What did you do to her?"
"That's none of your fucking business now give my wife back to ME!" He snapped and reached out for her but I blocked him off.
Wife? Since when?
Since the day you shot them idiot.
She clutched the back of my shirt tight and I put a hand out to stop the crazy man, "It becomes my business when a girl so happy starts running into my club looking like she's seen a ghost. So you better leave or I'll call the cops on you."
His eyes widened and he started laughing crazily, "COPS?! You can summon the Greek Gods down and she'll still belong to ME!"
Ah well...
He pushed me slightly but I recovered quickly, seeing him pull a pocket knife out from his jeans and thrusting it at me.
I stopped his hand mid-air as lightning flashed in the club, the colour on his face drained and I twisted his wrist till he released the knife.
Even with all the noise and music around me, I could hear Destiny's soft crying. It broke me, and I felt rage seep into my blood.
I stared down at Trevor and twisted his wrist till it broke. His cries were blanketed by the commotion as rain started pouring down on the dance floor.
I looked towards the bar and saw two of the Elite men standing there. The last one I didn't identify could manipulate the weather.
I scoffed, nice timing.
I glared down at Trevor and grabbed him up by his collar, "Get the fuck out of my face."
I kicked him in the gut and he flew a distance away, people moved away as I gestured for Payne to drag him the hell out of there.
Everyone was hollering and enjoying themselves in the indoor rain. They barely even took note of the struggle we had here.
I turned around, finally getting a proper look at Destiny. She was shaking horribly, the rain soaking through her flimsy dress.
What would make her run out dressed like this?
I held her shoulders and she cringed, her frightened eyes finding mine.
Her aura was tainted slightly black in contrast to her usual reddish orange.
"Are you okay?" I asked carefully.
She shivered and nodded, "Thank you."
I brushed her wet hair away from her face, her breathing coming in gasps.
"Let's dry you up," I held her fragile body close to me as I got us out of there and into my office near the back of the club.
***
She was shivering horribly even with my blazer around her. It made me feel some sort of way, seeing Destiny in my clothes.
My clinically white office already had the heater blasting at full speed, in hope that the warmth will soothe her.
I wasn't even slightly bothered by my wet attire, though it was slightly uncomfortable. Good thing I decided not to wear a suit today and opted for a simple navy-blue dress shirt with a pair of jeans.
I didn't know what to say, I was extremely worried. Judging from the bruises on her body, I don't think she's shivering just from the cold.
I walked over to the pantry and made a cup of hot cocoa for her. Chocolate will soothe a girl's nerves.
I was aware of her gaze on me, she was probably being wary of me. It made me wonder what made her come to me today.
I stirred the cup of chocolate in my hand and strode over to place it on the table in front of her, "Drink up, keep warm."
"Thank you," she barely whispered and picked the cup up.
I walked over to my desk just a short distance away and leaned against it. She drank quietly and I watched her body relax. Her nightgown ran up her leg and I groaned, damn she's beautiful.
She stopped drinking and held the cup to her face, the warm vapour steaming up her skin and I saw colour return to her cheeks.
The black darkness of her aura vanished and her reddish-orange returned.
That's better.
She looked at me and caught my gaze, her warm eyes making me feel more at home than I've ever been with Psyche.
"Are you going to tell me to fuck off now?" She muttered out of nowhere and I cocked my head.
"I'm sorry?"
"That's what you said to me when I danced with you, remember?"
Oh.
Well, she holds a grudge.
"I apologise for that, I wasn't thinking. I drank a bit too much that night."
She gave me a look but shook her head and drank some more, "What were you doing at Trevor's concert?"
"Is this an interrogation?"
She smirked sexily without even knowing and watched me, "Think what you like, I'm just curious."
"What about?"
"About you," she stated bluntly.
She's so fucking good.
"If I answer that, will you tell me why you came here tonight?"
Her eyes widened slightly, probably not anticipating a trial to happen.
Whatever it is, I was as curious about her as she was about me.
"Deal," she downed the last of her drink and pulled my blazer tighter around her. She lost some weight, her cheekbones were sharper than usual and her legs were slimmer as well.
I took a deep breath, not sure what I was getting myself into. But I sure as hell wasn't about to let her go without finding out what was going on with her.
And all her fucked up partners.
"Go ahead," she nuzzled into my clothing and I had to calm the growl rising in my throat.
All the fantasising about her and here she is.
"I was at Trevor's concert to watch him play," I started off and she immediately shook her head.
"No lying Eros, we made a deal."
Deal or no deal I want to fuck you till you can't fucking stand.
I pushed myself off my desk and crossed the space to sit opposite her on the sofa, she shifted away naturally.
Which was right of her to do, she still didn't trust me even though I saved her.
"I had to do something that night, it's uh- Confidential."
She cursed under her breath and threw my blazer, which was now damp, in my face.
"If you want to play games then seriously get the fuck out of here Eros, I'm not in the fucking mood to play whatever twisted mind game you're planning."
I raised an eyebrow, "This is my office. You can't chase me out of-"
"I can do whatever the fuck I like! And I'm not going to sit around trying to figure you out. GET OUT."
"What?!"
"GET OUT." The look in her eyes scared the shit out of me. She actually looked like she would kill me.
I closed my eyes to calm myself down, I need to be truthful to her. Or she's going to chop my balls off.
I looked up at her and put my hands up, to show I was surrendering so she won't shoot her mouth off again.
"Okay, I'll come clean. I swear, but I need you to be more-" I gestured around with my hands, "Open-minded."
She was stressed out but was trying to be rational, she gave me a good hard look and sighed, "I will, will you fucking tell me now Mysterious Man?"
I smirked and she glared at me, wrapping her arms around herself as she shivered.
I handed my blazer back to her and she grabbed it unhappily, covering herself.
I let my mind wander back to that night and took a deep breath, I'm going to sound crazy to her.
"Do you know how people fall in love Destiny?" Her name rolled off my tongue smoothly and I loved the way it tasted.
"Like how you sleep, slowly, then all at once," she answered simply.
How innocent.
I moved closer towards her, "In a sense yes, but it takes another important factor."
Her interest was piqued, "What other factor is that?"
I smiled, "Me."
