That night...was the worst night of my life the nightmares were never-ending and my three panic attacks through the night didn't help. It was only 8 hours but it felt like an eternity to me.

When i finally woke up i saw the old man sitting next to the nearly extinguished fire, eating some beef. "Come boy".

I walk over to the log he was sitting on right next to the fire. "My name is Gozan what is yours boy?"

"My names Soukou..." I said in a soft voice.

"Soukou hm? Interesting name."

Gozan handed me some beef and i took it gratefully.

"Thank you for the food pops"

"Say boy, what happened back there?"

Just being reminded of that tragedy nearly brought me to tears.

"I don't know...I was out playing with my brother when we turned around to see our home burning and my brother ran in there to help save my mom and dad and there was this man who had red hair and a scar going down his right cheek and-"

The man looked shocked as he cut me off "Boy did that man have a spear by any chance?!"

"Yes"

"Akaan!" The man's face looked like he had just seen a ghost.

"So he's working for those damn Polkatoins"

"Akaan..? Polkatoins...?" I said in a confused tone.

"Oh nothing boy, don't worry about it. But anyways do you happen to know anything about magic?"

Hearing the word magic brought immense excitement to me.

"Yes, I do! I love magic I've always wanted to learn...actually I was meant to start learning yesterday."

Just thinking about what happened...and the fact that I'm no longer going to learn magic it brought me to tears.

"Now now boy, theirs no reason to cry. Do you still want to learn magic?"

"Yes I do but now my moms not around anymore to teach me and I didn't bring the book..."

"Hmm boy I need you to do something for me"

"What is it...?"

"Hold out your hand boy and shout...Faiaburasuto!" As he said this a red hot flame came out of his hand it came out in the shape of a rock it was scorching hot it felt like my face would melt but before that could happen the flame launched from his hand and was about to hit the tree when he yelled Shōka! and the spell dispersed.

"Woah! Was that magic?" I said with an excited look on my face.

"Indeed it is boy, now you give it a try".

"Oh, Uhm okay ill try my best!"

"Faiaburasuto!" I shouted while holding my palm out toward the tree. As i shouted the word a light spark came out of my hand and slightly burned my palm.

"Ow..."

Gozan had an impressed look on his face as he said: "it seems you will be worth training hahaha"

"Are you saying that you'll really train me pops?!" I said while being right next to him and looking up and jumping up with excitement.

"Yes, i will boy".

"YAYYYYYY" I couldn't contain my excitement i started jumping up and down all over the place.

"Haha, well first we must figure out what your affinity is so I know what element to train you in."

I looked at him with a curious look on my face as i say: "Well how do we do that?"

"We need to go to town."

"But the town was burned down..."

"Not that town young one, another town to the east of us." He says that while pointing in presumably the direction of the town.

"Oh alright, let's get going then!"

"Indeed let us go."
