Anpu finally let go of my wrist and left it all sore and stiff. He faces towards me and gestures through yet another tunnel. Beside it was a sign: Lost Soul Dungeon. He signs for me to follow. I walk behind him as I look around. The tunnel is dark and you can barely see anything. I put my hand in front of my face to barely see it either. Suddenly I see a torch lights ahead along the wall. Dimming the fire’s soft glow. I’m put to a halt by Anpu.
“Jeez watch your step,” He grabs a torch off the wall and points it downwards,”stairs.”
We go down a long set of stairs made of dark red molten rock and soon a figure comes into view standing in front of a locked gate. A tall slim guy with light gray skin. He has fluffy teal hair and clothing. He wears black pointy shoes, baggy pants and a short unbuttoned button up. He takes some type of blue and black mask and makes it disappear. He looked at us. He looks over at Anpu and he starts to smile. His eyes are a deep purple that shines against the fire light. He stretches out his pointy wings. His wings were a mix of purples and blues. I thought only angels had wings. Then again angel wings are white and fluffy.
“Ah Anpu! Did you come to visit me, friend?”
He sighs and shakes his head. “Sure Amon.”
Amon looks over at me and back at Anpu. “Who’d you bring with ya?”
“This is Asheem,” he gestures over to me. “He’s new here.”
“You made him take your test didn’t ya?”
“Yes I did.”
“He failed?”
“No Amon unlike you he passed. You would have if you made it all a bit more interesting.”
Amon sighs and walks up to me. “Anyways it's nice to meet cha.”
Anpu puts his hand on my shoulder. “So-.. Are you gonna let us inside.”
“Wellll I can let you in Anpu but I can’t just take your word about someone else.” Amon turns his attention back to me . “If you want in I have to test you. Are you up for it?”
“Yes.”
He puts his head down and his face turns to concentration. He puts his arm out and a bunch of light blue and white orbs rush towards his hand slowly shaping into a scythe. “In order for me to see if you are truly immortal I must see how fast you heal and if you die. Have you ever experienced something that would make you believe you are immortal?” He looks up at me. His face now is serious and tuff.
“Yes I died before and was reborn as this. Now I have the ability to switch between my earth realm self and my true form.”
He nods and raises his scythe up. Then a sudden loud bang came along with a pain in my head. It fades. I turned back towards where the sound had come. Another person stands there. A tall dark gray colored man stands before me lowering a pistol. Black orbs surround him and his eyes are pure white with a small black pupil in the middle. He wears a dark colored tank top and black shorts. He also has a gray staff on his back that appears to just float there and follow him around. On his left leg he has a tattoo. A skull with long sharp lines. He walks up to me and looks at my head where the pain was.
“You’ve passed.”
Amon walks up to the guy. He stretched out his arm holding the scythe and made it disappear the same way it had come. He smiles playfully. “Ubel! Your back early. Still though, you just had to steal the moment.” He playfully pouts and messes around with Ubel. Ubel matched the simple description that Anpu gave me earlier. He looks insane to be honest by his eyes but other than that he seems pretty chill.
Ubel turns his attention back to me shrugging off Amon. “You healed pretty quickly. Not many heal that fast. You're welcome for me giving you the test, by the way. Amon’s can be very painful, I heard. His test is one that tests more than immortality. Mine is more simple.”
Amon tosses Ubel a key. “Go ahead and open the gate for them. I wanna go with them.” He leans towards Ubel and whispers something that I barely could hear. Something about a report.
Ubel walks up and lifts up the key. It appears to be an old skeleton key with a skull head before the handle. He puts his hand over the center of the gate and a lock appears with thousands of chains attached to it. He unlocks the chain holder and they disappear. He tosses the key back to Amon and then he pushes open the gate with severe force. Amon grabs my wrist. “C’mon guys let's go. Anpu hurry up!”
As soon as we enter the gate I can sense billions of souls up the path. The walls here are made of dark gray bricks that have faded by time, there are some holes where it shows the same material as outside.
Amon guides us forward swiftly and Anpu follows with no problem. We come to a sudden stop and Amon turns towards us. “Anpu…they like you. You are the god of the dead after all. Will you go to them first?”
Anpu goes first. He then drops from the ground and I notice that we stopped right on the edge of a cliff. Amon looks towards me with a smile. “Just be scared. It’s not like you’ll die anyway.” I nod. “Just don’t let them sense fear.” I don’t quite get why that was irrelevant but I step off the ledge and fall down.
Down down down. How far does this go? All you hear is the sound of the whoosh of the air you pass through. Then you hear the weee of Amon. He comes flying down past me yelling. “You're too slow! Fall faster! It’s funn!” The last words fade as he goes too far of a distance. I just decided to close my eyes and enjoy the passing breeze. I then came to a sudden stop. I open my eyes and see a different type of circle with symbols. My face less than an inch off the ground I notice that I’m levitating. I wiggle my way off it and fall on my face.
I get up and pat the dust off me. I look around. Amon and Anpu seem to be looking at something in the distance. We’re in a huge opening. I feel my ears pop and then I hear it. Screams, cries, and begs. The sounds of little children crying and mothers sobbing for their lost loved ones.
