I ran to the teleportation key and went straight to the entrance to the hospital. I walked up to an elderly lady that worked at the desk. “Can I help you deary?”
“Yes,”I sigh from all the running that I realize now was unnecessary, “Do you know where I can find Layla?”
“The Layla that had the liver problems?”
“Yes. Where can I find her.”
“I’m sorry to say this but she died earlier today. If you want you can talk to the doctor?”
I knew she died. I sigh out of slight frustration. “Yes please.”
“Ok dear. He’s down the hall. Second door to the right. Also…sorry for your loss.”
I nod at her, not sure what to say. I walk down the hall and knock on the door she told me to go to. The doctor hollars, “Come in.” I walk in and I see the doctor sitting at his desk. “Can I help you?”
“Yea.” I walk up to his desk. “Where can I find Layla?”
We both have the same tone now. Frustration and strane in our voices. He sighs and gives me a look the opposite of empathy. “That information is confidential. I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
I lean over his desk slamming my fist down, shaking his small glass of coffee, almost knocking it over. “I won’t take ‘no’ for an answer!”
“Sir leave, or I will have no other choice but to call security.” He glances behind me in the corner and I notice a camera with a red light blinking where he’s looking. I see a light switch to the side of the wall. I flip it and take it as my chance. You can tell it’s not a night vision camera so no one watching can see anything. I grab the coffee cup and throw it as hard as I can at the camera. You hear sounds of electricity and plastic and some glass breaking. “Hey,”the doctor shouts, “What in the hell are you doing!”
He stands up and flips the switch. The lights turn back on slowly with a blinding light shining in your face. He’s pissing me off. He looks up at the camera and looks back at me. “That’s it! I’m calling security! I know you lost someone but you had your chance to leave!” He goes to reach for the phone but I grab his wrist. “Let go!” I snap it. He yells and swears under his breath. “You bastard!” I look over and notice a red button that says emergency on top. We make eye contact and he rushes to push it. I teleport and block his path. He goes to shove me out of the way but it doesn’t really work out for him. I turn into my true form.
“Now I’m mad!” I grab him by his collar and lift him up, slightly choking him. He seems so small and weak at my disposal. “Where can I find Layla?!” He shakes his head no. I shake him and ask again. “Tell me!” Sounds of footsteps come near the door. Shit. Security opens the doors. Pointing guns at me. As soon as they get a good look at me their eyes fill with shock. I feel myself snicker and a sharp smile comes on my face. I look over at the doctor ignoring the securities yells to put him down and other stupid orders. “You had your chance to talk.” I open my mouth and the doctor starts to scream . I brought him to me. You hear louch cracks and squashes as his bones break and skin separates. I drop the body. His head gone and body lifeless. I spit out the hairs and wipe the blood off of my mouth. S
I look at the blood splattered on the floor and then back at the security guards. “Look like you guys have a mess to clean up.” There are two of them. Wearing their little uniforms and holding small pistols. Their faces are filled with shock and terror to scared to shoot. One shakes his head and knocks himself out of it. “Shoot!!”
The bullets feel like small little bugs that smack you in the wind. I just walk up to them. They slowly stop shooting realizing that their gun shots aren’t doing anything but leaving small holes that heal quickly anyway. I grab a gun out of one of the guy’s hands and look at it. “I like Ubel’s gun better.” I look at their name tags. Karl and Ed. The one I took the gun from is Karl. They look like they are in their mid-twenties. Apollyon would probably have fun with them. “Nice names.” They start to whimper and shake. Ed puts his gun down. “Come on! I have a family! Shoot Karl!” Karl’s face worsens like a rotten orange. I won’t kill Karl. No, he's a good person. I can sense it. I point the gun at Karl to jinx Ed out. Then I quickly shoot Ed in the face. He falls forward. Karls sighs. I unload the gun and drop it. I’ll offer him a better life than this.
“Do you have a family?”
“N-no.”
“Be careful of what you say. Only first say that Asheem sent you.”
He looks confused, that's ok. I put my hand on his shoulder and sent him to the teleportation key. I prop up Ed’s body against the wall and close the door. Everyone else was probably evacuated but it was close to the end of the day so the only people here were probably the people that I saw besides hospital patients. The elder lady probably just ran off and forgot to call the police.
I walk over to the desk and look through all the files. I hear sirens. So someone must have called. I hurry through the files not wanting to kill more people than I have to. I finally found Layla’s. I grab the file and then teleport myself away from all of this chaos. I thought of Jax’s location first in such a hurry.
Jax sits on a wooden bed reading a book. Wherever we are it’s night time already. The sea is calm tonight. I turn into my human form before he notices. He looks up from his book and looks at the folder in my hand. “Whatcha got there?”
