I can't shake this off feeling I have coming from Liam.
But I did agreed to help him.
It's not Liam himself that gets my nerves all twisted .... but that shadow of his.
The fact it's a poltergeist that's haunting him is kinda freaky.
Who'd he piss off to get haunted?
Aren't poltergeists usually the spirits of bad people?
So, that means he's being haunted by a bad person?
That's actually scarier knowing that....
And he seems completely fine with it!
He doesn't flinch or seem bothered that the poltergeist is continuously glaring at him!
Actually, he did seem quite tired, but that could be just from researching too much....
Should I really be doing this?
Should I really help someone who has a poltergeist attached to their shadow?
I already have my hands full with the ghost at home .... I don't wanna deal with another one.
One that could most likely influence things around me too.
One that could actually kill me....
Now I'm just scaring myself into not wanting to go meet him....
A shiver went down my spine as I made my way down the street, across the road and towards the local library. Liam mentioned it'd be better for us to work together at the library, not the school one. As most students could easily walk by us, but here there'd be more places to find a seat to research. There would also be more books on the types of things we'd need to use as research.
That still doesn't get rid of the feeling of dread I'm feeling....
Liam seems like an alright guy, but what if I'm wrong....
What if he did something and he's being haunted for a reason?
I know I'm making up excuses, but I have a right to be scared if the guy I'm helping has a poltergeist around him!
It could affect me too!
I made my way into the library through the automatic, sliding glass doors and walked inside. My eyes scanned over the book aisles, finding the small computer corner and study section. There were two desks free, so I headed over and say down, placing my bag on the table as I did so.
It was calming.
It was why I liked the library so much .... when they didn't have rowdy kids inside....
My calm demeanor changed when the chair in front of me moved and Liam sat down with a few books in his hands. My eyes gazed over the edge of the desk to see the shadow still glaring at him, but turned its gaze to me momentarily.
I shivered and turned my attention back to him. He seemed to have noticed how I looked at his shadow, waving his hand to disregard it. "Please, pay it no attention. It's really not that scary."
Is he high?
He's being haunted by a poltergeist!
What planet is that not terrifying!?
Why is he so calm about it?
"Anyways...." He grabbed a book from the pile which I noticed as a book on 'True Crime Interviews'. "....how about we start?"
I let out a small shudder and nodded my head, grabbing a book off his pile and doing the same thing. As much as I want to get away I want that ghost gone from my home just as much, so I guess I have to do this....
Sorry if this chapter is a bit shorter or feels rushed than the previous ones. I’ll try and make the next chapter longer. This one I guess you can say is focused on Naomi’s thoughts about her current predicaments which is why it’s shorter.
Naomi Bailey just wants to live a normal life. She doesn’t want to have anything to do with anyone. That all changes when she meets a mysterious boy; who claims he can’t find his body. This leads the reluctant girl to help the boy, making the two go on a journey of mystery, friendship and … acceptance…
Updates Tuesday fortnightly now (AEST - Australian Eastern Time) between 12pm and 9pm (Changed schedule) (On HIATUS until more ideas come to me, sorry)
The cover is drawn by me, but I plan on doing a better cover in the future when I have access to a PC again.
