This series’s main connecting theme is that it is a comedy series about the awful life choices that we have as teenagers. This is often shown with Frank and Jack (especially Frank) not wanting to be friends but not being able to get by without the other person.
It also takes cartoonish versions of people I knew in high school and uses them to tell various stories, including stories about trauma, wealth inequality, the environment, movies, sexual arousal, narcissism, bigotry or just a string of gross jokes stuck together with an almost irrelevant theme.
Enjoy the series.
