Calling for Backup

Aug 10, 2022

“Of Course! One moment, I will grab her.” Getting up, I walked over to Tina’s office.

I knocked on Tina’s door before I opening it. “Hey, we got another person who just found out the Goblin Exploder 9000 has a safety.”

Tina dropped the scroll she was reading. “Oh my god, another one! I wish they would take that stupid wand off the market.” Tina said, getting up and following me to my cubical.

“Yeah, I agree, but that bad boy is really effective,” I said, pointing to the horrific scene in my bowl.

Tina’s eyes grew wide as she covered her mouth with her hand. “Oh my god, one wand did all that!?”

The man at the scene chimed in, “No…well…half of it. That’s not the point. What are you going to do about this?!” the man said as he pointed to his eye. “No one told me about that stupid safety, otherwise I would still have both my eyes!”

“Uh…Um... Well, we can give you a refund.” Tina stuttered.

The man’s face glowed red. “You think a refund will resolve me losing half of my vision?!”

“Um…er…uh” sweat started dripping from Tina’s forehead as she struggled to find the words to diffuse the situation.

I have to step in to help her. Tina was always timid when customers yelled at her.

“Hi, me again. I am actually a manager. Your situation is unique, so I thought it would be perfect training for our new manager in training. I understand all your frustrations, and I am going to try my best to relieve them. We’ll give you a full refund for the wand because we failed to explain the instructions to you properly. Now, if I could just get the coordinates to your house, I will have someone send the refund, a magical eye patch, and voucher for you to receive the 20% off for the next 3 decades. Once you fill out the voucher, just send it back so we can put it on file.”

Nodding his head as if to say, now we’re talking, he gave me his information, and then ended the call.

Handing the request to Tina, I said, “I need a manager’s signature for the voucher.”

Tina signed at the end of the paper, “Jim just doesn't know what he's talking about; you're much more qualified than me to be a Master Customer Service Wizard.” Tina said, handing me back the paper.

“It’s whatever. He has some weird vendetta against me,” I said, placing the request on my desk.

“No, it’s just not right! I’m going to talk to him.” Tina said, marching to his office.

I walked in the other direction to submit the claim. “You can do that. I’m going to go file this request.” I said as I walked away.

Kevin is working in a dead-end job in a magic call center. He can clearly handle any situation thrown his way, but for some reason, he cannot be promoted to Master Customer Service Wizard. But after an insane call with goblins raiding a town, Kevin approaches the Grandmaster Customer Service Wizard one more time to get his promotion, hopefully.
