My travels bring me to a wooded area with tall trees but not so much shade. There are trees on both sides of me but a gap big enough for a football field in-between both sides. The sun is blaring down on me, but a cool swift breeze rushes over every now and then to keep me cool. I've been traveling for what feels like weeks but in reality its only been 2 days. I feel my legs getting weak as I haven't really rested and been walking through most of the night, only taking quick breaks in between. "I need to find somewhere to rest" I tell myself out loud. Just as I finish my sentence I notice a deer standing in front of me. I examine the deer and notice an arrow sticking out of its side. "Poor guy, he must be uncomfortable." I try to approach the deer but he startles and runs off.
I look and shrug my shoulders "no way I'm catching a deer". As I continue on the road I hear a shout from behind "HEY!" I swing my head around and notice 2 men standing side by side. Both men average around the same height a little taller than me, I would say around 6'2. One man had a scruffy beard and the other has patches of hair on his face almost as if he is trying to grow a beard but cant. The man on the right seems to have a more intimidating build to him, veins on his hand, seems like he works out often and the other is skinny, looks like he doesn't each much. Both men dressed in Chlamys one filled his out more than the other. "Have you seen a deer run by here?" the bigger man yells out to me. I point them in the direction I seen the deer run.
The men nod there head and run off. I turn around to find the same deer in front of me. Confused I look around for the hunters and they are no where around. "How did you get here?" I ask the deer knowing he wont respond. I attempt to approach the deer again and this time I end up getting closer and suddenly an arrow falls from the sky striking the ground in front of me. I immediately stop in my track and notice the arrow has a faint yellow glow to it. I look around nervously looking for where the arrow came from. "Wh.. who shot that arrow!?" I yell out loud. "What are you doing to these creatures?!" A voice booms from the sky. I look up and see a figure floating down.
At first they were just a shadowy figure falling from in front of the sun but once they got closer I noticed it was a woman. She glides down towards me and as the sun reflects off of her. Right away I noticed the auburn red hair following behind her. As she gets closer I realize how beautiful she is. Face looks eternally youthful, she was beautiful and vigorous. Her clothes which looked to be a dress of flowers, grass and vine revealing the top of her breast. Her legs revealed on the lower half of her beautifully flowing dress. Her eyes serious yet enticing. A bow in her hand and an arrow in the other."Wh... who are y. You?" I barely let out a legible sentence. Completely ignoring me she again ask "What are you doing to this creature?!" I look at her in awe barely able to let a word leave my lips. She looks at me obviously frustrated and puts the arrow in the bow and pulls the string back, "I'm not going to ask again."
Her tone is more serious and nerve wrecking this time. I'm finally able to let out words "I'm doing nothing to him, I simply was wishing to help by taking the arrow out." she looks at me as if she doesn't believe me. "Do you think I was born yesterday?" she examines me. "You insult me with such mockery and for that you will be punished." I cower and hunch over, as she is about to release the arrow the 2 hunters come running from the trees as the bigger one says "LEAVE MY TROPHY ALONE!" He yells out towards us. She slowly lifts her head towards them. The hunters stop in there tracks once they take a look at her. "La.. lady Artemis!" they exclaim. "We... we... we mean no harm, we are just poor hunters looking for food." The smaller hunter tries to find a way to reason. "Food? But you just said trophy."
Artemis clearly insulted by the lies yells "Do you take me for a fool?! These ground that you are trespassing on are sacred to these animals and I have a deal with you mortal never to come here!" Her face starts to get red from anger. "Not only do you trespass you insult me with your lies as well." The bigger hunter steps forward, "My lady we mean no harm, we are just nervous fools that's all." Artemis clearly exhausted from the exchange readies her bow. "I'll be fair and give you 5 seconds to leave, as now you are my game until you reach the end." Both men quickly run as fast as they can but to no avail. "1" she counts "2" she stares at the men fleeing "3" she grips her bow tighter "4" she pulls the string further back "5" she lets off a shot striking the smaller man in the back. In a blink of an eye she moves in front of the bigger man stopping him. "You are my trophy now" she whispers to me at she strikes him with an arrow point blank range in the chest. She walks back over to me as I still lay on the floor. "Get up" she tells me. I stand up facing her. "Seems you didn't lie after all" she say "I will not apologize to you but I will let you get the chance to leave these grounds unharmed." she tells me looking away from me. I look at her barely able to take my eyes off of her and I start walking. "Wait!" she yells towards me.
"You have an energy about you, and I'm intrigued." She looks at my waist and notices the sword I have sheathed. "That sword." I look down at it. "You must have something to you." she looks away from me. "Take care, I'm sure we will meet again if the sisters has any say in it." I look at the sword as she walk away from me. "I wonder what about this sword made her react to it." I say out loud. I turn around and walk away continuing on the path towards the exit. I look back as I see Artemis tending to the deer. Infatuated with her I stop myself from going back as to not push my luck. "I wonder if we will really meet again" I ask myself as I continue my way towards the end of the woods.
