As Stanley was walking towards the Servant's quarters, he had a very big suspicion that something was weird.
There were no guards around, he had not seen even one.
When he reached the quarters, it was confirmed that there was something wrong.
The lights of the quarters were not lit. Although it was dark, it was not too late for everyone to be asleep.
"What is going on?" Stanley said as he looked around in the dark.
He was not able to see anything on the ground, the only source of light for him currently was the moon, but that was not much of a problem for Stanley.
He had lived here for the previous 3 years and knew how the place was built and where the things were kept.
As he was walking, his feet struck something and he fell.
All the wood he had gathered was scattered around and some smaller ones were even broken.
"I don't remember a bump being here," Stanley said as he rubbed his head a little.
Stanley turned to his right and looked for a candle he knew was around here.
With the help of his hand, he finally found the candle after some tries and lit it up with the matches which were right beside it.
"Now let me see what it was." Stanley brought the lit-up candle towards the bump which caused him to fall.
Stanley saw the head of the butler lying on the ground and had a scared expression on his face with his eyes wide open.
This was the first time Stanley had seen something like this and he was completely shocked and vomited right there.
"W-what the hell is going on?" Stanley trembled at the sight in front of him.
Being very scared due to the head and the dark, he hid in a corner and decided to wait until morning.
As he was hiding in the corner, he heard some footsteps.
Stanley blew the candle to let the people pass by without noticing him.
When the footsteps stopped, they stopped right in front of him.
The sound of something falling came.
Stanley looked a little towards the outside and saw a goblin with only one hand and his whole body was covered in injuries from attacks, lying on the ground and suffering from pain.
Seeing that the goblin was in a weak state and harmless, Stanley took the axe he had and swung it with full force at the goblin's neck.
The goblin's head was separated from his body.
Stanley fell to his knees right next to the goblin.
As he was there, a purple fog emerged from his hand and covered the goblin.
"What is this now? Another monster?" Stanley said as he had not noticed that it came from his hand.
The fog completely covered the goblin and slowly started to disappear.
When the fog completely disappeared, the goblin's body was nowhere to see.
It was as if the fog had completely devoured it.
For the first time, system notifications popped up.
[Mana → 6.2]
[Strength → 7.1]
Agility → 7.1]
[Used the unique skill Devouring Fog for the first time]
"Huh? What is this increase in my stats?" Stanley looked at the notifications.
He was then sure that the fog just now was the skill that he had been trying to figure out for the previous week.
"Will this work on him too?" Stanley closed his eyes and went to the place where the butler's head was.
Stanley put his hand forward in the direction of his head and a few minutes, he received a notification again.
[Mana → 6.3]
[Dexterity → 6.2]
[Stamina → 7.3]
Stanley once again vomited before he was able to think about anything else.
"So, different people. Different stats." Stanley said as he now faced a table.
He wanted to confirm if this was the same for other things.
His hand was in front of the table for a long time but in the end, he was not able to devour it.
As Stanley was concluding his observations, he heard footsteps again.
But the footsteps this time were of a monster or monster much bigger and stronger than the goblin.
He instantly went back to the corner he was previously in and curled himself as much as he could.
The footsteps were of a monster so strong and heavy that Stanley could feel his body vibrating on every step he took.
Stanley stayed there until morning.
As soon as the sun rose, Stanley got out of the corner and looked at the situation outside.
The sun's light fell everywhere and Stanley could see what he was not able to in the dark.
Dead bodies of people and monsters were everywhere.
He slowly went to every goblin and devoured them.
After devouring every monster, he devoured every human in the mansion who had previously devoured his feelings.
While standing in front of the last room, Stanley sighed and looked at his system for once to satisfy himself that if he encounters any goblin, he can kill it himself.
[Host: Stanley Hathore]
[Class: None]
[Strength: 13.4]
[Mana: 10.3]
[Stamina: 11.2]
[Agility: 10.8]
[Dexterity: 9.5]
[Health: 117]
[Unique skill: Devouring Fog (Ex-Rank)]
Now his strength and mana were at the level of a Rank-1 knight and mage respectively.
In the world he lived in, a Rank-1 mage was the weakest and Rank-9 the highest. Being a mage itself was a feat for many people since the majority was not able to sense mana their whole life.
The monsters were also classified on the same basis and goblins, whom he just devoured, were the weakest of rank-1 monsters.
Stanley opened the door and saw a goblin eating a human.
The goblin jumped on Stanley but Stanley reacted quickly and he punched the goblin in its face.
Its face was completely blown away, not leaving even bones.
"I need to control my strength in the future," Stanley said as he walked and devoured the body goblin was eating.
"This Young Lord is also devoured. Hmm? Who is that?" Stanley looked at a leg on the bed and walked towards it.
He removed the sheet of cloth which was on it.
As he saw the body, Stanley lost the little human feelings he was left with.
On the bed, Raia's body lay, naked. A green liquid surrounded her vaginal area.
It was evident what it was but it was not from a human.
"Did that goblin.." Stanley looked at the place he had killed the goblin and devoured it.
Stanley wanted to now just clean his only friend's body, clean her body and bury her in a clean place.
Right when Stanley was about to pick up her body with his hands, a purple fog appeared again, covering Raia's body.
"No, stop it. This is not what I want." Stanley tried his best to stop the fog from devouring Raia but the fog was not in his control.
The fog disappeared within seconds along Raia's body.
[Agility → 10.9]
[Health →119]
System notifications popped out along with tears from his eyes.
He did not want to devour her body. It was an insult to the dead Raia.
Now, Stanley had lost all his feelings and had become a cold person with almost no emotions at all.
He decided to go out of this mansion and kill as many monsters in this life as he could.
Stanley took new clothes from the mansion, he wore a long blue cloak covering him from head to toe and set out on a journey to get stronger.
