"I am 13. Aren't I too weak?" Stanley said as he fell on the straws that he was sitting on.

He slept for a long time, peacefully, for the first time since he came to Depix.

When he woke up, he saw a man in a blue uniform, whom Stanley assumed to be a knight, looking at him with the same eyes as the other people.

"Get up quickly, you have to get to work." The knight said and kicked Stanley lightly.

Stanley got up and tidied his clothes, washed his face and came back to where the knight was.

"Can you tell me what I have to do? I don't know since when I regained my consciousness, I was alone." Stanley said in a low voice.

"You need to take the physical punishment which would be meant for the Young Lord." The knight said as he started to walk.

Stanley followed him and sighed.

Even after being sold as a slave, his work was to get beaten. He hoped to at least get promoted and do normal housework.

The knight led Stanley to a room with a board in the front and a long table opposite it.

On the table, a fat boy with a face uglier than Stanley's brother sat.

'How did his father manage to do that?' Stanley was sure that it wasn't a physical problem, the boy was just born like that.

"Young Lord Paier, this is the slave that Lord brought yesterday. He is meant to bear all the physical punishment meant for you." The knight said.

Paier looked at Stanley and smirked.

He threw down the cup he was drinking water from and broke it.

The cup was in pieces. Paier called Stanley," Come here and pick them up."

Stanley proceeded to walk to him, bend down and pick the pieces.

As he was picking them up, Paier put his feet on Stanley's hand and put strength in his feet, making glass stab Stanley's hand deeply.

"Come on, pick it up. What is taking you so long?" The pain made Stanley want to cry but he just was not able to.

Then, days went by, Stanley was beaten every day for some reason or the other and he was also hated by the servants of the mansion.

He slowly discovered information about the mansion.

Paier was known for raping the maids and being cruel to servants.

The Baron also liked physical abuse and the Baroness was just indifferent to everything.

One day, Stanley was beaten to a pulp on the grounds of accusation by the Butler that Stanley had impure thoughts about the maid Paier was eyeing the next.

Stanley ended up getting put in prison and staying there for a week, without food.

That was the time when he met Raia for the first time.

She had sneaked in some bread and water for Stanley.

At first, Stanley was cold and indifferent to Raia but after Raia helped Stanley for half a year, Stanley opened up to her.

Raia was 4 years older than Stanley and was kind to everyone.

Stanley treated her like an older sister, he liked her a lot as a sister and had no other thoughts about her.

Raia had been sent away by her family to work at the Baron's mansion and earn money even after the rumours about Paier.

Her family had abandoned her but she never abandoned them.

Raia always loved her family but when life in the mansion started getting too hard due to Paier, she decided to run away with Stanley.

Stanley had already made a plan to run away and was now going to run away with Raia, but on the day they decided to run, the 'Ruin Of a Baron in One Night' happened.

Back to the present, Stanley had just buried Raia's clothes and the necklace she always wore and built a tombstone on it.

He stood in front of the tombstone and for the first time in an eternity, showed emotion.

He cried. Tears ran down his face, not intending to stop.

"Hey Raia, we did not run away together in the end. I even made a mistake at the end and could not bury you. I am going to leave this Barony and set out to venture the whole world and take out as many monsters as I can." Stanley said as he fell to his knees in front of the tombstone.

Stanley went back to the mansion and looked through the ruins to find some clothes that would fit him.

In the end, he found a long blue cloak and some cheap quality adventurer's clothes.

"As she used to say, something is better than nothing," Stanley said as he changed his outfit.

Right when Stanley was about to exit, he remembered something and rushed back to where he stayed.

There, opened the bag he had made to run away. Stanley took out a bracelet from the bag and wore it.

"This is the last memory of her. Good that I did not forget this." Stanley said.

He did not have a skill like a fireball otherwise he would have blown the cursed mansion.

A completely emotionless and cold Stanley set out to complete the promise he made on Raia's tomb.
