The group would now reach Asina in 4 days.
While they had not met any monsters at all during the journey, it made the experienced travellers worry.
No monster attacking was not something normal to happen.
Stanley currently sat in the carriage while looking at the bright sky outside and holding the bracelet he was wearing.
He then leaned back to the soft seat of the carriage and opened his 'Status Window'.
After seeing [Skills: Fireball (F-Rank)] Stanley got a little happier but that was all there was to it. F-Rank spells were only enough to kill Rank-1 monsters.
As he was looking at his system, the carriage abruptly stopped.
Despite that, Stanley did nothing and just sat back with his eyes closed.
After a while, the sound of screams started to come from the outside.
When the screams did not stop for a while, he got out of the carriage.
Stanley saw the head of the carriage driver right in front of the door. It seemed as if his head was not cut by a sharp weapon but was torn apart by raw strength.
"Poor soul must be coming to warn me. But, what monster did this?" Stanley said while looking at the head lying in front of him.
Stanley looked around and saw a few women getting pounded by some goblins. When he saw the scene, he had some bad memories come back.
'S-should I save them? Will that happen again? N-no, no one would believe me again. I am sure of it.'
While the people were battling with the goblins, Stanley was fighting with his past, and unfortunately, he was losing.
Stanley was still beside the carriage. He held his head tightly and fell to his knees.
"Hey you, come help us." One of the men who saw Stanley said.
Giving no reaction, Stanley did not move and still kneeled on the ground.
By the time Stanley regained himself, the goblins had killed all the men and were finished with the women.
Stanley looked at the goblins coming toward him and rushed to defend himself.
"Wait! How do I use the Fireball spell?" Stanley said as he clenched his fists.
Remembering how he had blown off the goblin's head to smithereens before, he got ready to kill them with his hands.
[You just need to imagine a ball of fire on your hands and then you will be able to use it]
The system's voice came as Stanley passed his hand through the first goblin's torso.
Stanley understood what the system said and imagined a fireball the size of his hand appearing and blowing away the goblins.
As he imagined, mana was collected on his hand, and a fireball the same size as a golf ball appeared.
"This is.. Smaller?" Stanley said as he looked at his first spell.
Stanley did not know this but it took people a long while before they could cast a spell successfully for the first time.
He threw the golf ball as if he was on the mound while playing baseball.
The fireball hit two goblins and ended up burning them. But, even if three goblins were dead, there were five more.
Stanley tried making two more fireballs, one in each hand but was only able to make one in his right hand.
The fireball helped Stanley kill one goblin.
Now, he started feeling a little drained and as if he was getting exhausted.
[Mana lower than 5. Not able to use spells anymore]
The system notification came.
"I learned how to fight the hard way in my previous life. Let's see if you can beat a street boxer."
Stanley said as he now came to how every strong enemy was beaten, with fists.
The four goblins came at him together and swung their arms at him. One of the goblin's sharp nails also hit Stanley's arm but Stanley did not show many reactions to the injury and quickly punched the goblin who was trying to stab him in the heart.
"One down, three left."
Stanley mumbled as he kicked towards the back without even seeing and it did hit another goblin.
"That was the most common thing on the streets. Two down."
The two remaining goblins then stopped attacking blindly and they looked at Stanley.
They both attacked Stanley in the left and right direction simultaneously.
"You know, you should not try to use your brain," Stanley said and took the advantage of his high agility, he moved forward at the last moment and avoided the two.
The two goblins ended up attacking and killing each other with their sharp nails.
Stanley then breathed heavily and sat right where he was.
With sweat flowing down his face, he drank water from the container tied to his waist.
"That was dangerous." He said as he closed his eyes.
In a while, Stanley got up, removed his gloves and started devouring the dead bodies of monsters.
After he devoured everyone, he took a sharp knife and cut himself in the same way as the goblin's hands would have and lay down right next to the carriage while losing consciousness.
This was all to show that he was injured too and it was not his fault for not saving everyone this time.
Stanley would not have needed to do that if an S.O.S was not sent out a few hours ago.
"I hope it will be alright this time." were his last words before passing out.
