Alex’s pov
It’s been a week since I met Aiden. He seems alright. But he still refuses to believe that I’m invisible. I mean I get it’s a lot to take in so I’m going to prove it to him.
“Alex are you in here” I heard Aiden say before he walked in. I opened the door before he got a chance to. He looked startled. “How was it at your friend's house”. “It was alright, why do you ask”. He seemed confused as to why I care. “Well I’m going to prove to you that I’m invisible, now follow me”. I grabbed him by the wrist and dragged him back out of his house.
I brought him out to the busiest street. “Ok and how will you prove to me that you are invisible”. I walked over to an unsuspecting stranger, gave Aiden a look as I pushed the man to the ground. The man instantly got up and started looking for the one who had pushed him to the ground. He kept looking right through me. I just laughed as I walked up to Aiden.
“Do you believe me now”. “For now, yes”. “Good, now let’s go shopping” I say as I drag him over to the nearest shop. “What are you even wanting”. I was a little embarrassed to say,I’m not going to lie. So I mumbled out of embarrassment . “Well spit it out what is it you want”. “I wanted to get a nightlight.” I blurted out. “Why?” he asked, confused. “Because I’m scared of the dark”. I was rather embarrassed to say that. “Ok”. Really just an ok, rude.
Aiden's pov
I really want to know why he’s so embarrassed to be afraid of the dark it isn’t that big of a deal. “What kind of night light do you want?” He seemed shocked that I even asked. “You don’t mind”. Ok weird. “No, why would I care if you want one?”. “Because I’ll be 16 in two weeks”. He looked down to his feet while we were walking. “Why does it matter how old you are”. He looked up at me. “You don’t think it’s weird”. “No, why is that weird.” He looked back at his feet again. “Because my mom always said that it’s weird”. I was honestly shocked. “What do you mean, can your mom see you too”?! “Well I wasn’t always invisible”. Wait what. “What do you mean?”. He looked like he could cry at any moment. “I mean I was cursed when I was five.” We arrived at the shop and he instantly changed the subject before I could get another word in. He grabbed onto my sweatshirt sleeve and started to drag me around the place. He let go of me once we found the nightlights and he picked up one of the ones from the little kids section. He picked up a little teddy bear shaped one. “Can we get this one?” He held it out in front of him for me to see. “Dude I don’t care what one you get.” “Really?!”. “Yes really”. He looked super happy like a little kid opening Christmas gifts. He dragged me again up to the checkout lane. “I’ll pay you back”. He let go of me again and went back to looking at his new nightlight. “You don’t have to”. “What”. He looked puzzled all over again. “You don’t have to pay me back, it's on me”. “Thank you” he whispered as he looked down at his feet.
Later that night as we were getting ready to go to bed he happily plugged his night light in the closest outlet to him. He looked really happy. I won’t lie, it was kinda cute. But more importantly how is his mom able to see him and where is she now? “Hey Alex”. He looked over at me. “Yea”. I motioned for him to come sit next to me. He crawled over next to my bed and sat down on the floor next to my legs. “You know how earlier you said your mom could see you”. He looked really sad as he looked up at me. “Well I wasn’t always invisible”. He looked away from me. “Well can you elaborate on that please”. He leaned against my leg. “No”. “Umm ok well why are you here and not with your mom if she can also see you”. He didn’t answer for a second. “My mom never wanted me”. Tears fell down his cheeks and landed on my leg. “I’m sorry for asking” I said as I slipped off of my bed down onto the ground next to him. “It’s not like she can see me anymore anyway”. He said, looking at me. I pulled him into a hug. “I’m sorry I asked you to elaborate anymore”. He hugged me back tightly and we sat there as he cried.
