We started walking through the woods looking for a place to shelter us for the night at a slowed pace due to the effects of mana exhaustion.
"What is mana by the way?" I asked with a thought-filled expression
"Humpf!" it pouted back in response throwing me off for a second.
"Is this because I am not saying your name every time I talk to you?"
"Maybe," I smerked before talking
"Oh I'm so sorry Aqua will you, Aqua, pretty please tell me the secrets of mana that only you, Aqua, know!!" I said with a condescending tone
"Ok but stop doing that, Aqua can tell you don't mean it, faker!"
"Ya, sorry. Just tell me already"
"Mana is an energy that exists in all living things even plants, and when a spell is used by more intelligent creatures with more mana it gets released into the world," it said begrudgingly
"Ok, I think I understand but how does it replenish"
"Not sure, I just know that living things are constantly producing a certain amount in their body and that's all I know, I was born yesterday" I looked at the elemental in slight surprise
"Really, you're quite intelligent for your age"
"I know I am pretty great!!" Ignoring the comment I instead processed all the new information. It was all very interesting and I was about to ask another question but there was something else that took my attention, footsteps about ten feet ahead of us and a little to the left. I stopped walking, looking over to where the noise was coming from unable to see anything as bushes and other flora of the forest blocked my sight. Aqua continued for a little longer before stopping
"What's wrong Achilles" it said noticing the change in my emotions
"don't move" I commanded to Aqua, freezing it in slight shock. I also heard the footsteps stop before turning around and continuing now heading in our direction, fast too. Did it hear me talking? The creature burst out of the bushes speeding towards me, a wolf? Or it at least looked familiar to one though somewhat larger, with pure crimson eyes, and dark black fur as if made of shadows. Not wanting to waste energy, I got down to one knee placing my right hand on the forest floor in front of me.
"Don't worry Aqua I got this," I said with a smile trying to calm its nerves knowing that it was a little frightened
"achilles?" it said as it watched the wolf approaching as I stay unmoving
"Achilles?!!" the wolf was in arm's length now maw open wide full of sharp jagged teeth that could easily rip through me. My hand shot up faster than the wolf could react grabbing onto its neck. I jumped up off my knee with the wolf still tight in hand before slamming it into the ground full force leaving slight cracks in the earth and breaking the wolf's neck, why go to it when it was coming to me anyway? "Congratulations, you defeated a Low Shadow wolf lv. 8" "Congratulations, you leveled twice"

What does it mean by low, come to think of it why is Aqua low? I guess it doesn't matter right now.
"Wow, I can't believe you defeated something twice your level Achilles!!"
"I don't know, I think this wolf was just weak," I said thinking back to how the wolf attacked me without regard for my abilities probably only caring about the level difference. Must have been inexperienced or else it would have known to never underestimate the unknown
"NO way, your just super strong Achilles," it said confidently with a hint of pride
"I hope so because about seven more of them are coming this way"
"What?!!" it said as the confidence in its voice was replaced with fear.
