Appearance: In humanoid form, banshees appear to Vist to have a pale, angled face with shadowed eyes, somewhat like a skull. Additionally, they have a vine of wind around them with flashes in the wind that aren’t lightning, but something else. Banshees also have a wind/tornado form, although few of them currently know how to use it.
Abilities: Banshees are best known for their screams. Banshees have two types of screams, one that is a battle scream and can be used to temporarily or permanently paralyze someone or even kill them. The effect is based upon the length of the scream. The second type of scream is involuntary and is based on premonitions; when encountering an individual, a banshee will scream as a warning that death is coming. Sometimes, the death can then be avoided, but not always. Banshees can also break any locks with their screams.
Banshees also have wind abilities wherein they can turn into a tornado and travel, virtually invisible, at high speeds and for long distances. For those highly skilled in wind magic, they can also spawn small tornados at will while in wind form.
Banshees do not have hearth magic.
Alignment: Banshees magic is viewed as death magic, although technically they do not choose the premonition screams. Banshees are not aligned with anyone and are often ostracized by other supernaturals due to their association with death and fear that, when seeing a banshee, the banshee might see their death.
Lifespan: Banshees live about 250-300 years. Banshee origins, however, are unknown. Popular theories for their origins are that they’re born to humans whom they then kill; they’re born from dying breaths; they’re born from other banshee screams; they’re aliens from another world; or they are hybrids from harpies, although harpies (and every other supernatural) have never claimed to make a banshee child. Banshees usually appear around the physical age of four or five and have no memories of life before then.
Personality: Banshees personalities vary, but most banshees tend to be solitary by default due to the way other supernaturals treat them. Banshees rarely have close relationships with anyone, but because they are also an uncommon race, they often do not have the opportunity to associate with other banshees, either.
Known hybrid variants: Unknown. Due to their general dislike by many supernaturals, banshees don’t often get involved with other supernaturals. They also don’t tend to have children themselves.
Example members: Lola
Banshees primarily appear in Slumber.
