Gwang Seong’s POV
"It’s kind of you to visit us here, Mr. Gwang."
Due to the apparent lack of authority in his speech, I didn’t bother to meet his eyes. Instead, I looked around this supposed CEO's office. In contrast to his lackluster appearance, his workplace is rather intriguing. It perks and irritates me. The mismatched patterns of golden lumber and bricks ridicule the essence of a workplace. An office must be intimidating, sophisticated, and reflective of life's reality and stature. How would your employees respect you if you don’t establish your superiority over them?
"Would you want to drink something? How about a cup of tea, a soda, or maybe a beer?"
The sight of this filth exhausts my eyes. I massaged one side of my temple by placing my elbows on the chair's armrest. How could anybody work in this hell?
"Mr. Gwang, are you okay?"
I didn't react.
"Mr. Gwang?"
I remained silent and continued stroking my forehead. I sensed that he was approaching me, reaching out with his hand.
"Don’t touch me."
I finally met his eyes. My tone and penetrating gaze caused him to recoil.
'Do you see the difference between us, Mr. Rorie? One of us hardly resembles a chief executive officer, and it is not me.'
I would want to say. But, of course, I did not. I attempted to be at least courteous. Moreover, these individuals with excessively large round spectacles, a sloppy suit, and an innocent-looking feeble appearance are not to be trifled with. They are often the ones with the most menacing sides.
"I apologize if anything I said offended you, Mr. Gwang." He distanced himself from me and bowed near the sofa next to us.
"No. Go on." He then sat like the rigid toad that he is. I could see his anxiety from where I sat.
"Ms. Mikale has informed me of the purpose of your visit. You want to invest in bars, and SIGA is among the options you're evaluating?"
He said, unsure.
What a joke. Didn't he already learn about it from a friend of mine? Why would he even ask me? And as a company president, you must be confident in everything, even if it is false. Take accountability later.
I raised one of my eyebrows. This prompted him to continue speaking.
"I'm not trying to boast, Mr. Gwang. But I have someone that other enterprises don't......" He placed a call on his phone.
Hm? I lifted one eyebrow in his direction. This person had better be noteworthy if they are to be introduced to me.
Following a brief delay, someone entered the room. I made no effort to peer behind me. It is a waste of energy. They will arrive eventually.
Rorie rose to welcome the individual.
"This is Sinyeo, Mr. Gwang. He is the SIGA bar's greatest asset."
I looked up and noticed a man with long pink hair. He appears unusually small and frail for a male.
The boy with pink hair extended his hand to me. After some time, he realized that I had no intention of shaking it. He attempted a grin. Despite the fact that I can see he is rather upset by my arrogance.
Well, if you possess the same qualifications as I have, you have the right to be arrogant.
"Ahem. SIGA bar has the highest demand for Sinyeo. Is he not the most attractive?"
Sigh. I'm too exhausted to listen to CEOs trumpet about their so-called "top" gimmicks.
Is he the prettiest? Even my secretary is better looking than this guy.
Ahem. Wait. Have I stated anything?
I don't think so.
"I can see why. It's a pleasure to meet you." I aimed for a grin. I'm certain, though, that it was not a nice sight.
I abruptly heard the sound of a little alarm going off. This Sinyeo individual regarded his CEO.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Gwang, but Sinyeo appears to be required to handle a matter outside. I hope you understand."
Hmm. That is a nice feature. A system capable of alerting you if an issue exists. I would build this in my office too, if only I wasn’t so good that I kept everything in control. Ha!
I nodded slightly.
Sinyeo bowed to me, then departed.
"Anyway, Mr. Gwang. I would like to show you this graph depicting our net profit for the year. "As the data demonstrate..."
I did not care to listen to whatever praise he had for his business. Those numbers are bullshit and biased. I’ve seen companies scale their numbers up just to get in business with me.
Plus, oblivious to him, I came here for something else. I merely let him have a few minutes to talk before interrupting him.
"I’ve heard enough. I have another meeting in a few." I took a glance at my watch as I saw him flinch again. I could see he was not used to having his speech interrupted. At least I witnessed one CEO trait in him.
"Oh, yes. We appreciate your visit, Mr. Gwang. I hope you had a wonderful time while you were here. Thank you for taking the time to hear me out."
I rose from my chairs. He bowed as I smoothed out the wrinkles in my suit.
"Yes. Thank you, Mr. Rorie."
I went past him. I opened the door when something fell on my chest. I lowered my chin to examine what had struck me.
I grew irritated when I saw it was a person. How dare this low-life lie on my chest? I was about to shout and attack this person when I remembered his CEO was right behind me.
"Get. Off. Now." I tried hard to suppress my anger. It would be more difficult for me to make a scene here.
"I'm sorry, sir!" He retreated instantly.
I gave him the most enraged look I've ever given somebody. If his CEO was not present, I would have already beaten him.
"Hey, look here." I commanded him.
I want to see his face in order to add him to my mental kill list. However, I recalled that I had difficulty recalling faces.
"Who are you?"
"K-Kim Tae-ri, s-sir." He talked in a low, faltering voice.
Since I obtained what I wanted, I left them standing there dumbfounded.
What a terrible day. I can’t wait to go back to my office.
I extracted my phone from my coat pocket and contacted my secretary so he could ensure that everything was in order when I returned.
"Be prepared. I’m going in."
"Oh…. I-in what, sir?"
My face contorted. Why is everybody speaking so quietly and stuttering?
"I’m returning to the company now. I’m going into my office. Prepare the files and ensure cleanliness."
"Oh. I thought you were going in me." He murmured. I barely managed to hear what he said at the end.
"What?"
"Nothing. Noted, sir."
I dropped the call.
What is my secretary on about? And why is my cheeks feeling hot all of a sudden?
