Appearance: Fairies are humanoid. To Vist, they have swirling wings edged with gold magic. When their wings are visible, the wings are basically like petals and running water in wing form, aka very nature-themed. Fairies can also shrink down into a “full fae” form which is only a few inches tall, and they cannot hide their wings in this form.
Dark fae have dark purple eyes.
Abilities: Fairies have the ability to grow plants, meaning they can grow them from nothing – as long as they’re familiar with the plant they’re making – or just keep them alive regardless of climate, etc. As long as a plant isn’t dead, fairies can bring it back. In full fae form, they output magic constantly and will grow flowers in their wake, making it fairly easy to locate them.
Fairies also have healing magic. They tend to use this carefully since their magic simply heals without restoring it to the original condition, so they could heal someone with a bad break still intact or something along those lines. Related to their healing magic, fairies have calming magic. They use this most often to help calm feral shifters and help contain them before harming other people.
Finally, fairies have sunshine magic, aka can make sunshine. They photosynthesize, aka get energy from the sun, so this is basically a way to use some of the sunlight they collect. They may also glow, in some instances, which is also viewed as an aspect of sunlight magic. Fairies who live in sunnier climates have to sleep less than those in darker climates.
Fairy hearth magic tends to grow vines to trap attackers and attack them back. Fairy hearth magic is one of the strongest hearth magics and few people are willing to risk attacking a fairy house.
Dark fae have extreme destructive magic, designed to utterly obliterate anything in their path.
Alignment: Nature magic and light magic. While viewed as being very light-end oriented, fairies are also generally not as bothered by people on the other end of the spectrum simply because most supernaturals know that fairies are likely to help if they ever need it, particularly with food or medical needs. Fairies are most often allied with nymphs, dryads, unicorns, and angels.
Lifespan: The oldest recorded fairy lived about 2,300 years. Fairies could potentially live longer. Fairy magic does grow as the fairy gets older, so the older the fairy is, the more powerful, and the more likely they’ll survive even longer.
Personality: Fairies tend to be fairly happy people as long as they have their plants (and animals). Angry fairies can make things around them start to go haywire and dark fae are unable to control their destructive impulses and will destroy anyone and everyone in their path. Fairies are pretty much all vegetarian.
Dark fae do not remember themselves and are unable to stop themselves from destroying anyone and everything in their path. They will essentially kill and destroy until they are stopped. They will remember anger and pain from the moment of their transformation (which most often involves the death of a fairy child), but nothing before that moment.
Known hybrid variants: None. Based on the way fairies reproduce, fairies do not currently have a way to make hybrid children. In theory, however, a child born with an angel partner via the angel egg system or to a vampire partner via blood union could be a fairy hybrid, but this hasn’t happened yet.
Example members: The entire Woodson family
Fairies appear in TME, primarily, and in Escape and Seafoam, although fairies are also referenced in Purr and Submerged.
