Appearance: Familiars are humanoids. They can briefly transform into their connected animal, but only for a few seconds at a time. To a Vist, they have the ears associated with their animal as well as the tail (ex: fox ears and tail). Familiar types are sometimes hereditary as to species generally (such as feline, canine, etc.), but are not genetic as to the specific animals.
Abilities: Familiar magic varies based on the animal the familiar is associated with. A familiar will be able to use magic that is in some way connected to that animal. For instance, a snow leopard familiar can use ice, snow, and mist. A fox familiar, on the other hand, can likely manipulate the earth and create rain and fog. A familiar may also have some physical abilities that work automatically based on their associated animal, such as being able to jump longer, run longer, or camouflage themselves easier. Basically, their abilities relate to the natural environment of their animal and some elements of the animal itself, such as foxes living underground or snow leopards leaping on prey.
Familiars have hearth magic that corresponds to the abilities of their respective animal, so the magic will respond differently based on the individual.
Alignment: Familiars are not associated with either light or dark magic and are more neutral. They are not generally aligned with any particular species.
Lifespan: Familiars generally live 300-400 years, but can live longer. It depends on the animal they are connected with. For instance, if they’re connected to a rodent, you’ll live a shorter life, because they do, although the familiar would still live a lot longer than a rodent would. But if the familiar is connected to an animal that lives 80 years, for instance, they’ll probably live 400 or more.
Personality: Personalities for most familiars varies based on the individuals. Familiars are able to blend into human society better than some supernatural.
Known hybrid variants: None. Familiars don’t make hybrid children.
Example members: Devon and Elizabeth
Familiars appear in Blank and TME.
