Works of Monk Alviss, the Poor Toman

**************************************

Silence, the lonely sound

Why is it so profound?

Memories , the record of the mind

Why are they so unkind?

Death, the call of each being

Why is it so sickening?

Silence, the sweet sound

Why does it not resound

Memories, the soulful photo

Why do they bring joy?

Death, the mercy of God

Why does it seem so far?

- Alviss, The Duality of Life

******************************

Is it a pain to go on?

Life is so filled with dryness.

Where do I go, when nothing pushes.

Lost in a maze of thorns.

What is safe anymore?

Rending to this mind, can it be any better?

Unable to be free.

Unable to express fully.

Why is the truth so hard?

-Alviss, Unended

Hi again, if you're lookin at this, you probably saw my other descriptions. In any case, this is my attempt at some poetry through the mind of a depressed monk. Hope this helps shape a part of the theme of Ethra and I hope you like the scheme of my second poem*. I'll release more world building excerpts after this. I need to come up with some material for works of fictions and other things.

*Instead of a rhyme scheme, I tried using questions, so as you might have noticed in the second poem, the first stanza has 1 statement then 2 questions. The second stanza has 2 questions then 1 statement, and the last stanza just reverses the first's grouping, creating 2 statements then 1 question. In theory, the sound we make when forming a question, which is almost the same every time we ask one (just try it) helps the poem's sound scheme in replace of rhyming the last word of the line. Don't quote me on that though, it's all guess work.

Explore the literature of Ethra! The Ethrian compendium is a collection of excerpts from authors and scribes who are determined, by the Guide, as important contributors to Ethrian history and culture.

(This is a personal project to help simulate a library in a fictional world. If you would like to join in and get paid, feel free to contact me!)

I will try to upload a excerpt every 3 days. Thanks for the support!

Thanks and enjoy!
