Appearance:         To Vist, gryphons appear to have an eagle head and feathered wings.  When shifted, grypons have the head and front legs of an eagle and the back legs and body of a lion, along with wings.

Abilities:                Gryphons have wind abilities, but mostly in shifted form, where their wings can create wind drafts larger than would be expected for their size.  They can manipulate wind to some extent in human form.  Gryphons can also manipulate gold, so some will deliberately keep gold objects around so they can instantly turn them into molten gold to use as a weapon in combat.

                                Gryphons occasionally use gold to make hearth magic, but this is generally viewed as too expensive to bother with.

Alignment:            Gryphon magic is elemental magic.  Gryphons tend to side with dragons if they have an option to, but otherwise generally are on their own.  Their tendency to speak in riddles does not always endear them to other people.

Lifespan:               Gryphons live about 350 years.

Personality:           Gryphons cannot lie, so many gryphons try to deal with this by speaking in riddles so it’s not always clear what they’re saying.  Gryphons are also patient and content with finding one hobby to enjoy forever, but most of them enjoy activities related to reading and writing.

Known hybrid variants:      None currently known.  There have been some hybrids who have the other parent’s abilities and the gryphon parent’s limitation to only speak the truth, but no true hybrid.
