Guts and Gears

That boy

That boy

“ 01001000 01100101 00100000 01100011 01100001 01101101 01100101 00100000 01100010 01100001 01100011 01101011 00100000 01100001 01100111 01100001 01101001 01101110 [He came back again.]“ The Animatronic named by her care takers as Amy stated. She was a rusted old animatronic. Her pointed ears made of rubber now seemed to sag and crumble. Her once gorgeous smile now partially wilted as wrinkles seemed to set in and her mouth sometimes didn’t open even while she spoke.

She seemed to have run off from the others who had currently been excited to see Titus had returned from another voyage for spare parts.

She made her way around the bend, a small run-down roller coaster stood decrepit and decaying with a large hare like animatronic in the booth. His arms rested over his chest as he kicked up his feet on the ticket counter.

“01010011 01101111 00111111 00100000 01000100 01101111 00100000 01001001 00100000 01101100 01101111 01101111 01101011 00100000 01101100 01101001 01101011 01100101 00100000 01001001 00100000 01100011 01100001 01110010 01100101 00111111[So? Do I look like I care?] “

He held a disheveled look to him. His yellow eyes wandering and following a young Titus as he began repairs on their oldest of models. The group seemed excited as per usual with his company. Yet, things would always die down after a few days before he would once again pack up for his travels.  The old withered Animatronic shifted in his seat as a memory surfaced.
The vaguely female animatronic named Amy pressed the rubber tips of her fingers to her lips. If she still had her mechanical skin she would be laughing, or at least jeering at the older bot.

A little. He made it home safe and sound again. I think you get worried about him.]

The viewing of blood and gun shots. The way his system had an error screen, [PROTECT CHILDREN] It screamed in bright red flashing over his hazy vision. There hadn’t been children in the park for years. Not since it was abandoned. Not since the war.

The small movement of feet and the loud sound of a crash.

“01001001 00100000 01101000 01100001 01110100 01100101 00100000 01101000 01110101 01101101 01100001 01101110 01110011 00001010[I hate humans]” He stated to the small Animatronic with their now rusty pink bow hung high between their ears.
"01001000 01100101 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01101110 01101111 00100000 01100100 01101001 01100110 01100110 01100101 01110010 01100101 01101110 01110100 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100001 01101110 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 01101101 [He is no different than them]"

She giggled, almost scoffing should her program allow for such conversation even between fellow bots. Using pre-recorded voices of human language was tricky that way.

You continue to let him come and go as he pleases. ]” She responded. Turning her head to face as the other androids tried to vocalize a jeering sound of laughter as the previously immobile animatronic stands. Testing out new parts Titus had gave him. The steel was worn and creaked softly yet it was still newer than what the rest of their body held.

“01001000 01100101 00100000 01110010 01100101 01110000 01100001 01101001 01110010 01110011 00100000 01110101 01110011 00101110 00100000 01001000 01100101 00100000 01100001 01100011 01110100 01110011 00100000 01101101 01101111 01110010 01100101 00100000 01101100 01101001 01101011 01100101 00100000 01100001 00100000 01110000 01100101 01110100 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100001 01101110 00100000 01100001 01101110 01111001 01110100 01101000 01101001 01101110 01100111 00101110 00100000[He repairs us. He acts more like a pet than anything. ]” The eldest animatronic responded.

Crossing their arms over their chest as the scene unfolded and Titus could be seen laughing with glee.

Amy's dull eyes glistened over. Treats us as though we are family. Even though we can hardly speak to him in his language. He still comes back with arts from lands beyond. ]"This time her tone was soft. Delicate. Looking tenderly at the elderly hare character Animatronic.

Who knows where he gets these parts. He should just find a city and be with his own kind.]

There was just as suddenly a loud crash.  Interupting the concersation between the two rusted bots. Old rusted and partially eaten by bacteria paint cans were hastily knocked over with melted tires from around the old roller coaster bend.  All animatronics paused. The deathly silent only partially interrupted by Titus’ soft breathing as he suddenly drew in breath.

A body was laying there. Facedown in the sand runes of the old park.

The hare finally stood slowly from his post. Gripping an old tire wrench in his hand. His gears creaked and groaned as he often didnt move unless he had too. This situation alone called for action.
It appeared as though a threat had emerged.
Yet, just as he took a step out of his booth--Titus has rushed over.
Falling to his knees as he struggled to flip the Android over.
