There were three people, and who were pushing down one of the convenience store workers.
“Where’s the money!” The biggest one of the three said to the scared worker.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The worker said back to the thug in a terrified voice. “This is my first week here.”
“Then let me show you how we greet people here.” The big one said. And as he said that he raised his fist, and it was coming down at the worker at full speed. He covered his face and waited for the blow, but it never came. He opened his eyes and saw that the fist was stopped by a tall man with shaggy hair, and a beard who was wearing rags and he did it by grabbing his wrist. It was Shībài zhě.
The thug was surprised to see someone who could stop his strength. But before he could react, Shībài zhě had lifted the man and thrown him to the ground so hard that he spit out blood.
“Woah,” David said as he saw his master pick up and throw down a man 3 times his size to the ground. “How did you do that?”
“That was Hapkido,” Shībài zhě said. “In this martial art, the size of the opponent does not matter.”
No one seemed to notice him talking to thin air as they were too busy being surprised by how he had knocked him out. Everyone except for one of the thugs, who now that David saw was not only a kid almost the same age as the twins, but he was also looking in David’s direction.
“How dare you!” The other thug said as he rushed at Shībài zhě.
This was no problem for him as he first punched the thug in the throat, then picked him up from his collar, dropped him on the ground, and stomped on his face. Then he turned his attention to the kid.
“You can leave.” Shībài zhě said.
The kid started walking towards Shībài zhě. David expected him to hug Shībài zhě for saving him from, the thugs but instead, he stabbed him. The blood dropped to the ground. At first, David thought that he was stabbed in the gut but when he looked closely, it was actually from his hand as he had stopped the knife.
“Hey, kid, who the hell are you?” Shībài zhě said as he pushed the kid back but as soon as he said that the kid threw two knives. Shībài zhě used the knife that he had just taken to deflect one of them, while the other was aimed at David and it went through him.
Both David and Shībài zhě were shocked as they looked back at the kid who started to run to the other side of the alley.
“Hey! Come back here,” David screamed as both he and Shībài zhě began chasing after him.
The kid was faster than both Shībài zhě and David, but they wouldn’t stop and kept running. The kid reached the end of the tunnel and turned left. When they came to the end, the kid was sitting on a heavy bike and had already started it.
“Wait!” Shībài zhě shouted as he grabbed the bike from behind which had just started to move.
Before David could react, the bike had already begun speeding up, taking both Shībài zhě and the kid along with it and David felt the pull that dragged him along after the bike. Despite having someone behind him, the kid started to ride in zig-zag motions to shake him off. But Shībài zhě managed to hold on and keep on moving forward to stop him. But before they could, the kid swerved the bike and drove it through a wall that led to a stairway leading downstairs. Both of them were in the air as they were plummeting to the ground. Shībài zhě had a chance to use a decorations wire to save himself but instead, he went forward and grabbed the kid. He was bracing himself for the fall as he held the kid tightly but then he heard David’s voice.
“Mr. Shībài!” He screamed as he held out his hand. “Grab my hand.”
Shībài zhě trusted him so he raised his hand and grabbed it as David, using all his strength, pulled him back towards the wire he held onto. Shībài zhě hung there as he saw the bike crash down the stairs.
“That was a close one.” He said as he got down.
He began making his way back up the stairs with the kid in his hands, who seemed shocked by the situation. He looked up at Shībài zhě and asked, “Why did you save me and not try to save yourself.”
“Because what kind of adult would I be if I let a kid die and safe myself.” Shībài zhě said in a way that David admitted looked cool.
By the time they had reached the top of the stairs, there was a huge group of people with guns, all pointed at Shībài zhě.
“Drop the kid.” The man in the front said as he held a gun to Shībài zhě’s head who despite all the guns, didn’t flinch as he said,
“Piss off.”
